Chapter 2 - Wake Up

Being a baby wasn't actually half that bad. Most fanfics described being a baby as hell. I mean sure, occasionally he got in a bad mood because of unavoidable shit-stains and lack of mobility, but it wasn't as harsh as described. The issue was that most authors aligned their characters with standard baby norms. Their baby could only walk and talk in about 1 year because that was when the average baby could walk and talk. Here's the thing. If you've been reincarnated, you're not a normal baby. It's not a lack of body development, its a lack of skill. I mean, plenty of genius babies have been recorded to walk and talk at very early ages, so why couldn't he?(I made that all up but it sounds about right perhaps maybe perchance?)

Anyways, that was besides the point. Davis actually had a few more info dumps before the story began. First, Davis had a new name, Shirofuku Daisuke. He lived in the city of Ishinomaki in the Miyagi prefecture, born from Shriofuku Hina and Aoki. Daisuke liked his parents who seemed to love him even more than his past parents, who didn't exist since he was an orphan.

Second, Daisuke had 2 older siblings, a sister and a brother. His sister was Yukie, 1 years old, while his brother was Haruki, 6 years old. It was kind of weird to have older siblings. As mentioned previously, Daisuke was an orphan in his past life, so it was cool to have people to literally look up to. On the other hand, said people were adorable toddlers who could barely speak properly. They truly were adorable though. Both of them coddled him, and although cute, sometimes it was a bit stifling. Daisuke knew that he said it wasn't that bad, but sometimes it was actually annoying to constantly fall over and feel sharp bursts of pain due to a weak and flimsy body.

Fortunately, Daisuke had something to keep him entertained. The skill tree. It was huge. He was sure that there were billions of skills that could be explored. He himself already had a few noticeable skills.

[COOKING](LEVEL 10)

[MAKE BELIEVE WITH TOYS](LEVEL 7)

[MATH](LEVEL 14)

[REACTION SPEED](LEVEL 46)(LOCKED)

[ANALYSIS](LEVEL 34)

Obviously these were only a small portion of his skills, otherwise it would be embarrassing. Daisuke had been experimenting with the skill tree for a while now, and he had made a couple of theories that he was almost certain were correct. First of all, he assumed that a skill maxed out at level 100. Why? Because it was a nice round number. Also because he wouldn't even consider that his reaction speed was any less than 46/100. Second, he had mostly discovered the milestones of a skill. Taking cooking as an example, Daisuke was at level 10, the level of competency where he could use the microwave properly and cook some bacon.

Level 20 was a level where he would be able to make a good medium rare steak.

At level 30, Daisuke would be at the level of the average American mother, and could make a PB&J sandwich in 5 seconds flat.

At level 40, he could compete with Salt Bae.

Level 50 was the point where he could be considered a professional chef, and maybe even own his own restaurant.

At level 60, he could even create minor recipes and try new things.

At level 70 he could be considered a true veteran, capable of a variety of skills and even passing down those skills to the new generation.

At level 80 he could call people an idiot sandwich.

At level 90, he could be called the greatest chef in the world, making food that could make people orga-I mean, scream with delight like in Food Wars.

And at level 100 he could even be able to possibly compete with the average asian mom on a typical Tuesday.

Finally, if you payed close attention, you would notice that his reaction speed, which was at an impressive level 46(about high college level?), was locked. This was because of numerous reasons, but the main reason was his body. Now, Daisuke wasn't that smart. In school, he maintained an A-B average, but school didn't really increase your intelligence, like, at all. But from what he knew, there were a few factors that contributed to this seal of skill.

Even with a new body, Daisuke still had the same mind. And despite popular belief, muscle memory wasn't actually tied within the body. Sure, it had to do with the nerves of the body, but all in all, it depended on the mind. So theoretically, he should maintain the same level of reaction speed. But, and this was the weird part, he actually did not have the same mind. His first statement was a lie! What he thought was that all the information of his old brain had been transferred to this new one, but the habits of his old brain had not. In conclusion, Daisuke had no fucking clue. (I actually have no idea why I just tried to explain everything TT)

Hopefully, he would be able to grind his skills enough to get to a level where he could know how his new body worked. Until then, Daisuke had to improve any useful skills that he could practice as a baby. Observation? Maybe, meditation? Maybe he could even sneak out at night and read a book from his dad's library. But he wasn't pressed for time. In fact, he had plenty of time. So maybe he would take a quick nap first...
