David could not help but be gobsmacked with what he just witnessed his girlfriend doing a few moments ago. He clearly saw her being terrified after reading whatever it is that she saw on her phone, and when he stood up to see what it was, she quickly dropped it and crashed it with her shoe, and turned around to face him with a smile as if nothing happened. David could not help but wonder if something terrible has happened and it has affected his girlfriend greatly that she is trying to hide it from him with a smile because he can clearly see that the smile that is on her face is not genuine but forced.
"I am sorry you had to witness that. Actually a bug flew over at my phone so I became terrified and dropped it and accidentally crushed it with my shoe", said Amya and she started laughing, and she picked up her crushed phone and started to observe the damage. " Oh my poor phone...I guess I am going to have to buy a new one again", and she sighed and she looked sad.
David could not help but feel confused about his girlfriend's behavior, earlier she was laughing at the matter as if it was not serious but now she is looking sad about the situation. David could feel his head spin because he could not grasp the situation, he came here to propose marriage to the love of his life since he felt that it was now time they took the next big step but now it seems like his plans are falling apart. He did not plan for things to go down like this at all. He expected Amya to excitedly jump into his arms whilst screaming the word Yes! Yes! but now looking at the situation, he feels that it is never going to happen. David shook this bad feeling aside and decided to play along for now since Amya still has not given him the anwer to his question and he decided to implore the other situation later.
"Its ok my love. We can still buy a new one. But are you not forgetting something...", asked David and he took hold of Amya's hand, and looked at her in the eyes and said, " Amy....nothing in this world will make me a happier man than to have you as my wife. I have always dreamed of waking up beside you every morning, spending a lot of time with you and creating a family with you....growing old with you. And I swear that I will love you and cherish you in the way you deserve for the rest our lives. And I promise to make sure that you won't lack anything in your life but you will get everything you want. So I ask you again...Ms Amya Cora....will you marry me?"
Amya did not reply but let the tears in her eyes flow freely down her cheeks. And looking at David straight in the eyes she replied, "David....you are...the most wonderful man that I ever met. You are kind, strong, generous and also understanding....and I hope you will also understand what I am about to say now..." And she took a deep breath. David could not help but feel scared and his bad feeling started to emerge again from the pit of his stomach and unknowingly his hand started to tremble.
Amya dropped the broken phone on the ground and she took hold of David's other hand and said, "David....I don't want to lie to you. I....also fell in love with you....and I am very, very, grateful to have been given a chance to be with someone like you. Ever since my previous heartbreak...I thought that...I will never be able to fall in love again...but when you came into my life...you proved me wrong. You helped me overcome all of my fears and helped me achieve my dreams which I thought were just fantasies. I am forever grateful for that. And nothing could have also made me happier than to become your wife, build a family and grow old together but....." Amya sighed and averted her gaze from David and faced down. "A lot has happened these last couple of days...a lot...a lot of things that got me thinking...I know I shouldn't say anything but....there are a lot of things going on David....and they have placed in a corner...a corner that I don't think...I am going to escape from it..." "What are you talking about...what are you saying Amya. What is happening....who has placed you in a corner. Amya my love....please tell me the truth. What is going on...", pleaded David whilst looking at Amya with eyes filled with worry.
Amya did not know how to answer David. She was torn in the middle of telling him the truth or just keeping quiet and looking for a solution herself. But how was she going to do that, she did not know since she was stuck between a rock and a hard place. If she says yes to David, Timothy was going to be killed and if she says no to David then her family was going to be killed. What if she decides to tell David the truth, then...both of the parties will still kill her dear ones as revenge since she would have exposed them. And these people seem to want her answer to David's proposal now, so if she decides not to answer, they could still harm her dear ones and they did not deserve it, neither of them did, also including David. Amya did not realize but whilst she was fighting with her stressful thoughts, she was breathing heavily and shaking all over hysterically. David then took hold of her shoulders and shook her hard whilst yelling, "Amya!! Amya!! What is wrong with you!! Tell me whats wrong!! Please!! Why are you behaving like this!! What is going on!! Amya please say something!!" Amya did not reply but she stopped shaking and looked at David for a few moments with a tear streamed face and then she uttered in a low voice, "David...please help me...help me...save them". " Who...save who Amya...tell me!" Asked David. But Amya did not reply but she went limb inside David's arms and lost consciousness.
