Since the incident that happened the previous night, I couldn't help but think about mayas condition. I was way too much to be angry about her coming here as I am trying to make sure she doesn't find out about my life.
But since my mom insisted that she should finish her studies here I have to make sure she doesn't cause trouble as usual it's not going to be an easy task but am willing to make it work.
Thankfully, she was out of danger, and we took her home. As for James, I am grateful for his quick act to have taken her to the hospital. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if anything happens to her.
The next day, the boys and I went to the hospital to get more information about maya's condition.
Knowing that she wouldn't come on her own will o made up.an excuse about a family member being in a hospital as called the school and less that twenty maya and James came to the hospital.
I asked maya about the drink she had and who gave it to her, she couldn't remember the person.
She was angry at us for questioning her as if she was being interrogated. She didn't want to accept that we were trying to look out for her. Instead, she said that we were looking for an excuse to send her away.
Before she could say anything, the doctor came back with a report and said what I didn't expect to hear.
"Am sorry, sir. I believe the patient doesn't have enough time to live if she doesn't get her treatment fast,"
We turned to look at maya, who didn't look surprised at all she just remained silent.
We all left the hospital separately as we had different things to do. I took maya home.
As we sat down,the maids bought drinks and left. Maya took her water and drank without saying anything.
"Care to explain yourself?"
"There's nothing to say. You seemed surprised about my condition. "
"So you knew and didn't bother to tell me about it?"
"You're the only one who doesn't know. Your mom knows about it,"
"WHAT?!and you didn't tell me why is that?"
"Because I knew this is how you would react, and besides, we are not that close to sharing everything. Remember, you wanted me out the second you found out about me,"
"That's true, but I am still your cousin. Whether or not I want you here, it's my decision to make, and how can you be so carefree knowing your health is getting worse?"
"How about you pretend you don't care about me as usual and let me live my life the way I want ok"
"Not on my watch maya as long as you're under my roof you will do as I say and now I understand why you did what you did just to make your last days worth wild right?"
"Finally, you do understand, but don't worry I won't be causing any trouble for you and your friends in fact I'll do whatever it takes to keep my distance away from you"
"Like I said maya not on my watch I'll make sure you get healthy and only then will you do what you want"
"Look who is talking like a parent what? Did fatherly instinct got into you now hmm? Just forget it OK?"
She then took her bag and went to her room, I couldn't help but to try not to get angry at her behaviour.
Even though she was right, I did want her to go away but now I feel like I have to keep her close and make sure she stays out of trouble.
I took out my phone and called someone to find out about the person who drugged her at the party.
Hours later the boys came back and looked around. Soon maya came out as she saw us sitting in the living room she ignored us and went to the kitchen.
"Is she still angry?" Filex asked as he pointed at her.
"She is can you believe her, she's mad about me asking her to leave when am here worried about her"
"Well she's right to get angry knowing we all heard you telling her to leave right?"
I didn't say anything knowing he was right,but I only did it because I was angry about my mom's decision without informing me first and now am angry at myself for not considering her feelings.
I don't know how to make sure that she sees how much I care about her and now am afraid that our enemy might know about her.
Soon we went to have dinner as we sat down, maya sat next to James just to get away from me not that I blame her.
Soon harith joined us as he came late from work, I asked him to take care of the things at the office as I wanted to talk to maya.
"How is everything going?"
"As usual maya and yasar bickering and now she isn't talking to us"
"Did you find out about it?" I asked harith as he sat next to me.
Maya didn't say anything at all only when we were going to bed did she say something.
By the way I sent you a picture make sure to get it for me by tomorrow then went inside her room.
As I approached my home office did I get a notification on my phone, maya sent me a pic of a bookand asked me to get it for her.
"Do you have this book?"
I showed my phone to James who was sitting in front of me. He nodded and went to get it for me.
"It looks new don't you read it?"
"You know that I read that book last year and haven't read it again since"
"Give it maya she needs it by tomorrow "
As he left the room, I took my iPad and looked at the pictures that were taken the night of the party.
From the picture, I recognised the person who was giving maya the drink and my heart skipped a bit I couldn't believe she was back.
And how did she know maya, does she know her as well what if all of these are connected to me and what will the guys think if they find out about it.
Everything about her came to my m8nd like a flash and the next thing I know was I felt weak to my stomach.
My heart raced, my body felt like I was suffocating and lost my balance next thing I knew I passed out and maya was calling my name.
As I closed my eyes,I saw maya crying out for help and I couldn't speak at all.
