Chapter 63 - Chapter 63, Demonic Altar

After getting out of the artifacts' room, we headed upstairs to see what is on the top floor.

Truthfully, I am not expecting much, but I will still keep my expectations high and not be pessimistic about the whole situation. I had to go through a lot to get here. So, yeah, let's be optimistic.

I decided to start a conversation with Hayley to pass time until we arrive at the top floor as all of this silence is unusual from the chatterbox beside me.

"Hey," I called lightly.

Hearing me calling, Hayley turned her head in my direction while tilting her head questionably.

"What?"

"What are you going to do when we go back?"

"Do you even know the way back?" Hayley asked curiously.

Hearing this made me think if I should tell her that I have a way to return, or should I say that Will who sent us here should bring us back?

I thought seriously about this topic for less than a second and then answered Hayley's question with a question.

"What do you think?" I asked with a smile.

"You have a way to go back, right?" said Hayley with a smile.

"Why are you saying this?" I looked at her curiously.

"Because if you didn't have a way, then you wouldn't have asked me the question about when we return," answered Hayley with a wink.

Hearing this, I was dumbfounded for a while then laughed a little.

"Why are you laughing?" Hayley asked with a frown on her face.

Seeing her frown like this, I wanted to mess with her a little.

"Since Will, the one who sent us here, has a method to allow us to enter Hell. Then, of course, he should have a method to allow us to return," I answered her question calmly.

Hayley hearing this answer made the frown on her face become deeper, as she became confused a little because Max's answer is correct but at the same time wrong. She still didn't agree and kept looking at Max suspiciously.

Seeing her expression hasn't changed and she is looking at me suspiciously made me want to mess with her more but I decided against it for now.

"Okay, we will see later, anyway we have arrived," I said with a smile.

Hayley just turned her attention from Max to the crimson door in front of them.

After climbing the stairs for a while, what appeared before them wasn't a complete floor like the previous two floors, what appeared is a large crimson door that is filled with runes that are glowing softly with demonic energy gushing from them.

We just stood in front of the door for a few seconds, then I decided to just open the door as my expectation got elevated after seeing how impressive is this door.

Unfortunately, I can't sense anything from behind the door, like the previous ones. So, I have no clue about what I might find behind the door.

Opening the crimson door slightly, I noticed that there seemed to be demonic energy coming out from the small opening in a small amount. When I pushed the door all the way to the side.

I got blasted in the face with a terrifying demonic energy that is filled with evil and malevolence that made the previous aura they felt from that figure who made the test seem insignificant.

Feeling the intense demonic energy, I held the door's knop tighter so as not to get blasted while Hayley put her hands on my shoulders to be able to keep standing.

After spending 5 minutes standing like this, the level of demonic energy grew faint until this intense wave of energy swept out of the room and headed downstairs to the lower floors of the tower.

Checking that nothing else is amiss in the room, I heaved a sigh of relief. I was really frightened when I felt this aura suddenly gush into my face like this, but thankfully it is only a remnant aura of whatever is kept inside.

It just proves that whatever is kept inside is something that has been here for a very long time.

After shaking away my thoughts, I turned to look at Hayley who is still hugging my shoulders.

"Aren't you going to let me go or what?" I asked with a cheeky smile.

Hearing this, Hayley just pushed him away from her with a snort of annoyance.

"Hmph"

I just shook my head at her childish action and decided to head inside to see what is in the room, as it is too dark to see even with my eyes.

I just generated a small fireball above my hands, it is one of the spells that was on the first pages of the Tome of Knowledge.

I looked around me while waking inside with Hayley following behind me, but we found nothing in the room, or should I can it a large floor?

I don't know I just kept waking inside for a while until I reached a large altar that is erected at the end of the floor.

The altar is made of some strange black stones. It is filled with crimson runes that are written all over the altar.

The altar is producing a small amount of demonic energy with the same aura that just got blasted in our faces.

Apparently, because the room was closed for a long time, the aura accumulated for a long time from the alter, which resulted in the blast of demonic energy from before

Since I am not an expert in the language of runes, I have no idea what those words mean.

Even in the current age, the expertise of runemasters isn't very famous as the inheritance in this regard isn't widespread, and what is known, is that the inheritances available that belong to the runes are complete because the inheritance was cut in the past.

I turned my head to ask Hayley if she has any knowledge about runes since the dragon race should have a complete inheritance, unlike the rest of the races who faced catastrophes in the past.

Hayley was just looking around at the strange runes that are inscribed on the altar and wasn't paying any attention to me.

I just waited quietly until she finish satisfying her absurd curiosity to ask her if she knows something.

After more than 10 minutes of standing there quietly, finally Hayley finished looking around the alter and looked in my direction.

"Do you have any knowledge about runes?"

"A little," answered Hayley.

"A little, like can you understand what is written here? I mean like what is the effect of the alter?"

Until now, I can't see what is on the altar even though I am standing in front of it. It is covered in white fog which prevents me from seeing what is inside the altar.

So, I deduced that the only way to get what is inside the altar is to understand the runes inscribed on it.

If I were alone, I would probably just keep standing there, but thankfully, I have someone who is full of curiosity toward knowledge. So, I hope she has a solution to the current problem.

"Yes, I have an idea of what is needed. Although some parts of the runes aren't working and others I have no idea about their meaning."

"So?" I said with a raised eyebrow,

"I hope everything works perfectly," said Hayley with a smile.

"Then hurry up and tell me, we will know whether you are right or wrong after we try," I said impatiently.

"Okay"
