That day, when Odette got home from college and went up to her room, to her horror, someone was inside, sitting on the edge of her bed. Whoever it was would get a solid zap with her taser.
“Who let you win? I’m going to call the police if—”
“Odette, it’s me, Edrahil.” The handsome human-looking male held his hands up in the air. “I swear, I’m not here to hurt you. I came to return your slipper and ask you for a favor.”
“Edrahil.” She squinted. “Is that really you? Where are your pointy ears?”
Edrahil smiled. “I’m using a concealing spell, so I appear to be human,” he explained.
Odette moved closer. “How did you get here? I tried to go back, but I needed both slippers for the portal to open. I tried over and over again and couldn’t undo my mistake.”
“I was at fault, too, for grabbing you. I stepped out of line, and I’m sorry.” He presented the other slipper.
Odette let out a cry of relief and grabbed it.
