"Thanks for the ride Dad" I said as Dad stopped the car
"No problem"
"See ya at home Dad"
"Actually you won't"
"Why not?"
"I'm heading out of town for awhile. Maybe a day or two"
"Wait but didn't I tell you I'm going out of town. So how's gonna stay with Mom?"
"Carlton your mother is an adult I'm sure she can take care of herself" he said in a deadpan tone
"That's not what I'm worried about Dad. What if that bastard tries to pull something. We just got back together as a family if both of us leave he'll have a chance to ruin our family again. Like he almost did"
"Carl...this family....thing" Dad spat out random words
"Look Dad, I don't know what you're trying to say but I'm gonna be late for class so if it isn't important I'm gonna head to class" I said
"Yeah sure. Go ahead" Dad sighed before I got out of the car. I looked back to see him take a sip of whatever was in his flask before driving off
