Chapter 11 - Chapter 10 : Blood

Chitapo arrived finally with the Koranna tribe who could match her for speed in the water but unfortunately she was severely injured! You see,in the ancient times there was a terrifying creature and river and sky god called the Mokele-Mbembe that was a remnant of primordial wildlife. It was a long necked denizen of the Congo basin, Wagadu empire and Mundari tribe, that had the appearance of an apatosauras ( half elephant and half dragon).Together with this titan was another titan called Bida. Bida was a snake god and the Soninke version of Damballah Wedo of Vodun, Osumare of Yoruba, and Wadjet in Kemet. This serpentine worship of Bida was exported from Africa to India and it became known as Kundalini. Bida was not just a mere giant snake but she had the African science of controlling one's reptilian (r-complex) brain that governs instinctual reaction in order to make success an instinct. This meant that all her followers had a supreme killer instinct and this is why the Wagadu and Mundari were always successful in their trade and raids. These two gods were at peace with one another but when they caught on the phenamons emanating from Mami Wata as she slithered through with the Koranna tribe, there was only one way that could end! Every god was protective of their area of influence and they didn't take kindly to any trespassers and threats. So when they saw that Chitapo was slightly bigger than either of them and had the companionship of the river gypsies, Bida and the Mokele-Mbembe commanded the Mundari and Wagadu tribes to attack the trespassers with them.

Most people know the Wagadu tribe as the Ghana empire but a few know who the Mundari tribe were! The Mundari were a warrior tribe from the Sudan region that valued cow's urine like gold! They bathed with cow's urine, just to keep themselves clean. The Mundari tribe's cows were the world's most pampered cows. Mundari warriors would squat under streams of cow urine, which they saw as a natural antiseptic to fight infection and a blessing from the warrior gods such as Bida and the Mokele-Mbembe. This act was to also tinge their hair orange hence serving as an antiseptic which also protected them from the scorching heat. When they attacked Chitapo and the Koranna tribe, the Mundari and Wagadu thought it would be a white-wash because they didn't understand the power and ferocity that Mami Wata had. They tried to flank Chitapo but setting up decks of metal nets that they used to catch other big water game with but this was a cunning and enormous river god. She cut through them like butter without any need of force.

They tried using Kpinga's and Mambele's and even threw them at Chitapo but nothing could pierce through her hard thick scaly skin. A Kpinga was an African throwing weapon, that resembled a disfigured boomerang if ever it had a blood thirsty twin! It was similar to the Mambele and both were preferred by the Azande of Nubia, Mundari and Wagadu! This knife was 22 inches long with three differently shaped blades protruding out from different angles of the shaft to maximize the damage caused to the enemy. The Azande and Mundari used to give out the Kpinga knife as part of the dowry; a young man would bequeath his bride's family but in times of raids and war, it was a killing machine! One by one warrior from both sides fell. The Koranna had the advantage because of the fight was in the water and the water was their playground! Throwing and using a Kpinga under water is useless and trying to use it when there is a constant wave of water drops blinding your eyes everytime you try to kill an enemy is even more futile! So the Mundari and Wagadu forsook their gods and retreated, living them vulnerable to the open attack of Chitapo and the Koranna. You might presume the fight was over or that the odds didn't favor Bida and the Mokele-Mbembe but war customs forbade men to fight with gods hence all the Koranna could do was praise and worship Mami Wata as she faced the two river titans that were encircling her!

Bida attacked first with her fangs and sound waves that made the water waves ripple sarinated razor shap edges that cut into Chitapo's skin! The Mokele-Mbembe was a water dragon and elephant abomination hybrid! It could flap its ears like an elephant and fish would freeze before it gobbled them up. Sometimes it could blow water like fire dragon is if it was a canon gun and the force of the water would be equivalent to someone throwing ten Mount Kilimanjaro's on top of a human being! It chirped and squeaked as it communicated with Bida who hissed and dripped toxins of unimaginable levels! Finally Chitapo was hit and their cordinated attack had connected very well and deeply hurt her! However the fight had indeed came to an end before it could heat up! You see Mami Wata's skin was made of a cluster of big and closely woven piranha fish that covered her whole body! So when she was injured, the dead piranhas were eaten by those left alive thus spreading her skin and healing herself at the process but if she wanted to pill of her skin like other reptilians, then the old skin had to eat and die first! This meant the piranha would discharge from her as pores which forced her to change into a mermaid form but they would then eat up anything closeby within seconds and then attach themselves back into her. When they did this, they would then give birth to their healthy and strong young, who would then eat their parents and become the new skin!

It only took 50 seconds for the piranhas to feed on Bida and the Mokele-Mbembe.The Koranna had to stay out of water as this happened because they would have been part of the feast as well! Chitapo had won but at a huge cost of her power and Nyaminyami's since their life and future was bound and sealed together! So every time she got hurt or bled, Nyaminyami was also suffering the same effects! When Nyaminyami came out of the water crying tears of blood, it was because of the injuries that his lover was suffering in the waters against the other titans. Chitapo could not change to her giant titan nature for 30 days because of the power she had used and lost but she had gained both her foes' power and so did Nyaminyami in the process! They both could only be humans or mermaids and this made them very vulnerable! People fear size over anything else but once something they fear levels down to their size they begin to be ambitious and plan against what they know to be reckless! The Bergdams slaughtered a lot of Lozi people and white settlers but we were all fooled into a passionate bath of blood and greed by a foe who understood us better than we knew ourselves! Cohorts of white setters came in the primetime of war when everything seemed to be going badly wrong and changed history forever.

You see, these people understood exactly what Otto Von Bismarck was talking about when he spoke about blood and iron! Bombs and bullets fell out of the sky as if someone was using a hose pipe to remove some dirty sludge on the entire landscape! They were helicopters and guns that made the sound of a thousand swamps feel like a kitten's meow! Every tribe was being gunned down! We don't know how they came at this exact moment of turmoil or how they communicated until we saw the machine that they had hid from us, the Telegraph! It was a device that allowed the transmission of information by coded signal over distance and it could either transmit printed information by wire or radio wave. We all had one option and that was to run for dear life! It didn't matter who you were or what you were! At that point and time, bombs and bullets were tossing limbs and body parts all over as if it was a game. Bravery hadWsuddenly gone out of the window, belief and religion itself had been turned upside down and what was left were a mere group of Africans that had to succumb to the evader's desires or become fossils like the ancestors that came before us!

Nyaminyami and Chitapo were both weakened and wounded by the conflict before hence they could only hide amongst us! It was a reality check of what is power and who really controls it! We were all rounded up, bruised ,in pain and wounded except Chitapo and Nyaminyami who had shape shiftes into kids and scooted away into the river! Ntombenhle was alive, that Delilah! I hated her, l asked myself why and how she could survive all that bloodshed without a bruise but only l got was a kick on the mouth when she told the mercenaries to take me away since l was the leader! Everyone was tired and defeated mentally and spiritually. They had took more than our ego's and pride that day, they had took what it meant to be African, our belief, our faith and our lives! But still this wasn't enough. These people wanted our gods, they wanted to make them picture frames in museums and case studies of subjects that would never be and so they dispatched units to search the river for the two escaped kids. Nothing is as dangerous as a wounded animal and as the evaders searched for two river kids using canoes and battle boats, the river gave them the real war that they craved!
