When Ray'ven finally awoke, it was to less panic. While asleep, her memories came through fully. She remembered agreeing to do the ritual for Kowali, and she remembered Bluebeard's betrayal. Not only that, but she remembered her meeting the God of Death, of the promise she made to him. She still did not understand what that meant and it terrified her. While she could see why her Uncle would erase her memories, she could not help but feel that he had violated her, could not help but wonder, what other memories could he have possibly taken from her. The very thought caused her stomach to twist painfully.
Opening her eyes at the feel of someone lying next to her, she came face to face with Sam. He was still asleep, but his brows were furrowed together, his arm draped around her waist protectively. Had he stayed with her the whole night? It was only the two of them there. Had Kowali abandoned her after she regained her memories?
