Chapter 50
When Lauren got to combat and defense class, she looked over at the weapons rack and saw several new weapons. A sickle, nine tailed whip, and devil claws were three she recognized. "I see everyone got the note about the dark realm." Lauren said.
"Yes, well, it is our job to make sure you are ready for the task at hand. It is possible you will be meeting more Dark realm creatures or the light realm creatures that are battling with them." Hosheph said.
"Right. Professor Gavin is setting up a meeting with the light vampires as we speak."
"He will probably bring more than the vampires in on the meeting. There is a cohort of light creatures that usually come in at the same time. The light creatures would never come without the others. So I would prepare to meet more than one species. Professor Gavin likes to put people on the spot. He is the prankster of Evandalyn's cohort."
"So, he wouldn't tell me, just spring it on me? That's mean!" Lauren stated.
"No. It's a way to teach but since I know how important it is for you to succeed in this meeting, I'm telling you what he is doing. Don't think this will happen all the time. The surprise in meetings helps to build your ability to react. It's his right to use that tactic. It's my right to inform you of it." Hosheph stated pointedly. "Now, let's go through this lesson. These weapons are different from your normal weapons, not only in shape but also power source." He hands Lauren a small knife.
"It is a different feeling." Lauren observed. She then passed it back.
"All of you youngins will need to be exposed to the dark weapons and build a tolerance to the different magic. And before you ask, the magic is not evil, just different. It is the being wielding the magic that makes it bad or good. I have several friends that lived in the dark realm. If you like, I will introduce you to them later today."
"What? They live here?" Antonus asked.
"Yes. They've lived here over 50 years. Very good people."
"Sure. Let's meet up in the castle tavern." Lauren suggested.
"Very good choice, my lady. It would be a cozier atmosphere and you will still be safely in the confines of the keep. Too bad you can't meet the stuffy people Prof. Gavin is going to bring at the castle tavern. They will expect a grander scale."
"That's fine. At least meeting your friends will give me an idea of what to expect. "
"So, we all have to be ready to meet them tonight. I think we should come in and go out in small groups like we do when we come to Lauren's table in the cafeteria." Antonus declared.
"That sounds like a plan." Lauren agreed.
"Fine. I will set things up." Hosheph said.
The group left class and went their separate ways. Lauren and Antonus headed to the throne room. When they got there, Carlton and MaGayla met them. "Hello, my lady, I am happy that you are here." Carlton said as he bowed and kissed Lauren's cheek.
"You have perfect timing." MaKayla joined the conversation. "We have the top 24 in the conference room. How many do you want on the council?"
"Seven seems to be a good number. With Carlton as the head or Chancellor, i think that would be good. Who do we have for the judicial department?"
"I figured you would want to get them from the 24 in the room. Why do this more than once? Let's go meet them."
They entered the conference room and everyone stood. The four of them moved to the head of the table. A few minutes later Gerald, Tom, and Cartrell walked in and stood behind Lauren. Lauren sat on the throne, then MaGayla took the floor. "Madam Keeper and sirs, I present to you the people that will be leading all aspects of government in the realm of imagination. under the guidance of Chancellor Carlton. What I will present today are the positions we propose for each person. If for some reason a candidate is not comfortable with your position, please let our leaders know within the week, otherwise we will assume you are willing to work where you are placed. I am happy to report that while doing this process, no one seemed to have animosity towards each other. We will continue to monitor for a while to make sure things roll out smoothly." With that MaGayla began naming out everyone and their positions.
Dominic was able to keep the Historian position for the council. He loved keeping the records and didn't have to teach someone how to do his job.
Addien requested to be an assistant to the treasurer. She needed freedom to go home more now that the merfolk needed a strong leader. "Our queen is my sister and I want to be there for her.
Herman of Indus, was the vice chancellor and decided he wanted to move to a less demanding position and was made the Director of Human resources.
"It seems like everyone likes their positions." Lauren said. "I thank you for choosing to become our dream for this realm and all the other realms that will accept our help to get there. Thank you so much." Everyone applauded. "Now training and work won't start until tomorrow, so go enjoy your evening."
After everyone left, Lauren jumped up and gave each of her men a hug. "I am so happy to have all of you here. I know we'll be together tonight, but this surprise is wonderful."
"We want you to know that we will always be here for you. Carlton or Antonus only has to call us when you forget and we will be here." Gerald joked.
"I am so sorry. I don't know what it's going to take for me to get use to all of this." Lauren remarked.
"Don't worry so much." Cartrell said. It will take time and we will give it to you."
