Chapter 33 - The Marshal’s Little Fairy 1

Beep. Beep. Beep.

The constant sound of low beeping gradually entered Bai Liang's ears as he slowly woke up in his next world. Without opening his eyes, it didn't take long for him to know that he was in a hospital though he was curious as to why he was being submerged in water inside a capsule.

Xue Liang: [Master, would you like to have the world's information and the body's memory now?]

'Yes.'

Bai Liang received the information and slowly processed them.

This world was leaps and bounds away from his previous world and even his first world. This was a world where men could travel beyond their planet. He had seen some movies of this setting in his first world.

This was an interstellar world. A very advanced, high-tech world where a nation owned a whole galaxy. The planet he was on now was the capital star of Vars Empire, one of the three largest nations alongside Aranos Kingdom and the Republic of Zenus.

Another main point in this world was the existence of a subspecies which were dragons and fairies. Secondary gender was determined by the person's spiritual energy type.

Dragons were combatants. They had a high level of physical ability and enhanced senses. The stronger they were, the smaller their horns were and the lesser their scales would be. Those who managed to awaken their full potential would look no different than regular humans.

Fairies were healers. Their spiritual energy had a soothing effect towards dragons whose spirits were easily agitated because of their violent nature. Contrary to dragons, the stronger they were, the larger their wings would grow though it could only be seen when they were using their powers.

Both dragons and fairies were ranked from D to S class. They also had their own attributes which were mainly water, fire, wind, and earth. Those who had attributes outside of these were called mutants.

His body right now was called Cain Starling, a fairy. From the original's memory, he seems to be a water fairy but according to Xue Liang, he was now a mutant fairy with light and dark attributes due to his soul. His restrictions were loosened until he was within the limit boundary which made the original body, who was only ranked C, to now be ranked triple S.

He was the only son of the Starling family, a common family that was just a little wealthier than average. His father was a mech engineer while his mother was a chef. Both of them were males, but in this world, babies were commonly made by genetic reproduction in a special institution.

Unfortunately, his parents died in a spacecraft incident when they were returning from visiting his mother's family on another planet. Their spacecraft was caught by a large Parasite which was the natural enemy of this world.

It was also why he was currently inside a restoration capsule. This body had been asleep for a year since the incident. The government had been sustaining the lives of the survivor to take responsibility for their failure to protect a commercial spacecraft.

As for the protagonists of this world, they were both about to enter the military, one as a dragon soldier and another as a fairy healer. They would be entering the same division and bloom their romance when they were paired because of their high compatibility and complementing attribute.

The dragon protagonist was destined to save the country from invasion by the end of the year after the next which would grant him his own unit and promote him to commander. The fairy protagonist was a crucial figure at that time since only he would be able to heal the dragon protagonist due to their mutant attribute.

Bai Liang finally opened his eyes and with Xue Liang's guidance, he touched the glass lid above him and an interface with a list of simple commands appeared. He chose to drain the water and opened the capsule after it was completed.

If he had any claustrophobia, he would've definitely woken up with a panic attack.

The doctor was notified of his capsule being opened and soon entered the ward with a few nurses. They moved him to the bed and asked if there was anything uncomfortable in his body. They also asked several questions to ensure there was no impairment in his memory.

"Doctor, what about my parents?" Bai Liang deliberately asked.

Although he already knew what happened, it would be strange for Cain to not ask about it.

The doctor knew the question would be asked sooner or later. She steeled herself and decided to bear the burden of delivering the tragic news.

"Mr. Cain, this will be difficult for you to hear," the doctor solemnly said. "but Mister and Misses Starling died on the day of the incident. They have been buried along with the other casualties at the Eternal Peace Cemetery. I am truly sorry for your loss."

Bai Liang lowered his eyes, "It's alright, doctor. Somehow, I have a feeling that that's the case. Thank you very much."

The doctor and the nurses couldn't help but feel pity for the little fairy. He had just woken up from one year of coma only to find that he had lost his family. They rather see him cry or get angry rather than toughening himself up like this.

When he lowered his eyes, his long eyelashes trembled pitifully like fearful butterfly wings. His mid-length silver hair slid by his side with a sorrowful tilt of his head, curtaining his visage from the sunlight which overcast his beauty with gloom. The small pink lips that were slightly pursed in hidden grief made those who saw it want to offer all the best things in the world to make him smile again.

Bai Liang looked at the doctor with his misty blue eyes, clenching the hearts of the doctor and all the nurses, "Doctor, about the payment…"

"Please, don't worry," the doctor hurriedly said. "Your treatment is subsidized by the government. You can rest assured and recuperate the best you can to full health."

"How long will it take for me to fully recover?" Bai Liang gazed out the window. "I want to visit my parents."

"Although the capsule gave you enough nutrients to sustain your body, you still need to eat properly for your body to function normally. Also, you will have to go through some basic rehabilitation for your muscles and nerves. It will at least take a full week."

"I understand," Bai Liang nodded. "Are there any tests I need to take today?"

The doctor smiled apologetically, "Yes, but, we will only do some simple tests after your lunch and you can rest for the day. Tomorrow will be a bit more tedious, but I will personally accompany you through all of it."

"Thank you very much, doctor."

The nurses gave him a change of clothes which was a white set of loungewear and helped him dry his hair with a hyper absorbent towel. They served him a light lunch so as to not upset his empty stomach and made him a warm herb tea afterwards to help him with his digestion.

Half an hour after he finished his lunch, the doctor returned to start the tests. He wasn't required to move from his bed and only needed to let the nurses attach some testing equipment to him and do some specific set of actions.

The doctor nodded in approval that there was no abnormality and told the nurse to bring in the last equipment. It was a black, orb-like device with blue mechanical light tracing around it. It was connected to a monitor which was currently only showing strips.

"Mr. Cain, this is a spirit testing device. There are cases that someone's spiritual grade changed after going through a comatose state," the doctor informed. "Please place your hands on the orb and pour your energy into it."

Bai Liang thought for a brief moment before slowly placing his hands on it. When he poured his spirit into it, 2 pairs of translucent light wings burst out of his back like the flare of a first-magnitude star. It was unprecedently large that it went past through the window behind him.

On top was a pair of blinding white wings while below them was the shadow beneath the light. Both had the most beautiful and intricate patterns that seemed only possible to be carved by god himself. Delicate rainbow droplets hung on the white wings like pearls of dew on fine silken webs with crystal rubies mirroring them on the black wings.

The testing device exploded within seconds and the monitor malfunctioned before shutting down. The doctor and the nurses who were dazzled and blinded in place only returned to their senses when their chests felt painful and hurriedly choked in some air.

This…

This was a miracle!!
