One evening, Michael found himself working late and was the only person left in the building. He was ready to call it a night when he heard the elevator doors open on his floor. Thinking it might be a coworker who had returned, he stood up to greet them but nobody emerged from the elevator.
Suddenly, the doors slammed shut, and the elevator descended to the ground floor on its own. Michael stood frozen in terror, unable to explain what had just happened. As he started to leave the office, he heard footsteps behind him, growing louder and louder until they were right behind him. He spun around but saw no one.
