When she got to the dining hall she saw the two old couples already seated on their respective seats waiting for her. A small smile spread across Roxanne's face when she saw her grandparents waiting for her, she couldn't remember the last time she sat down with her family to eat together.
Well the family she thought were her family didn't even care about her if she ate together with them or not, which didn't bother to care much because she herself was too busy and occupied with working her ass off to make the company succeed. She was to focused on the company's establishment to remember her meal, it was all thanks to her secretary in the past that always reminded her of her meal time
Dismissing the feeling and small flashback of the past away from her head, Roxanne walked towards her grandparents.
"Good morning, grandma, grandpa. I'm sorry for keeping you waiting for so long." Roxanne's voice rang out in the dining room as she greeted her grandparents and apologized for making them wait for her.
"Good morning child." Old Walter replied.
"Good morning dear. How was your night? Did you like the room that was prepared for you?" Old Madam asked as she passed Roxanne a smile. "I have ordered the head maid to prepare your room, it will be ready for you today." Old Madam added.
"The room was okay and comfortable for me, grandma. I'm sorry for making you wait for me." Roxanne said.
"It's okay we didn't wait for long, we just got here not long." Old Walter said.
Roxanne smiled when she heard her grandfather's words. 'just got here?' The maid told her that they have been waiting for her since and she was basically the one that kept them waiting.
"I have to thank grandma again for the dress."
"Oh…that. I'm glad you like the dress. I called the nearest boutique and asked the maid to go and get you a new set of clothes." Old Madam explained. She was happy that Roxanne liked the dress, this was the very first time the old lady was going to ever spend and buy something for Roxanne, her granddaughter whom she just met. She was happy that Roxanne liked what she bought for her. That's one way to buy their relationship.
"I like it, thank you." Roxanne said with a smile across her face.
"You should take your seat and let's eat before the food gets colder." Old Madam said as she gestured to Roxanne to sit down.
Roxanne nodded her head and took her seat beside her grandmother. After having breakfast with her grandparents, the maids came over and cleared the dining table.
Silence engulfed the dining hall after the maids were done clearing the table and left. The silence remained for a while before Old Walter suddenly spoke and broke the silence.
"Roxanne, your uncle would arrive here today." Old Walter informed as he looked at Roxanne.
Hearing her grandfather's statement, Roxanne raised her head to look at him for a while. Although she was told that her uncle would be arriving here after her sudden appearance, she wasn't expecting it so soon just a day after she came to the Walter Mansion.
"Okay." Roxanne replied calmly in a casual tone. She didn't ponder much on the quick arrival of her uncle, after all it was all for the better if she met her uncle earlier.
Both Old Walter and Old Madam stared at Roxanne, hoping to see some kind of reaction from her. But instead, Roxanne had a calm expression on her face. This expression confirmed their suspicions that Roxanne was not just an ordinary girl that she seemed to be. There was more to her than what they saw. If it was some other girl who heard that she would be meeting her uncle for the first time she hadn't met before, there would be some sort of nervousness on her face.
But Roxanne had neither of that expression they were expecting, rather she was looking calmer than their expectations. It was as if she was already prepared and had already anticipated the situation. The two couples couldn't help but sigh in hopelessness, ever since Roxanne had arrived since yesterday her attitude and reaction was nothing but a shocking surprise to them. The expression on her face had always left them utterly stunned.
They know nothing about Roxanne at all except for the fact that she looked exactly like Evelyn which was proof that she was their granddaughter that they have missed for years.
Roxanne was oblivious to what was going on in her grandparents head in just a short amount of time. "I will head back to my room then. Thank you for the food." Roxanne said with a small smile on her face.
"Okay dear, we will let you know when your uncle arrives." Old Madam replied. Roxanne nodded her head and got up from the seat and headed back to her room.
The relationship between her and grandparents was not yet a solid one, she was still uncomfortable around them. Moreover, she was not yet sure that she would be accepted fully into the family. Although her grandparents seemed to like her already, she wasn't sure that this uncle of hers would. There was no point in building much of a relationship with her grandparents yet when she wasn't sure if they would take her uncle's side if he decided not to accept her as his sister's daughter and his niece.
Roxanne knew that she was being overly cautious about this situation but she was that way because she didn't want to get hurt just like the way she was in the past. She can only fully open up to the Walter family when she is sure that everyone accepts her in the family. And there was one more family who she wasn't sure about yet.
She was really hoping that this uncle she was about to meet wouldn't turn out to be another issue she had to deal with again in the future. It wouldn't be so bad if he treated her the same way her grandparents treated her.
