Chapter 14 - Chapter 14

******

Few moments later,

"See I told you that you were just being worried about useless things. I told you that your grandparents would be glad to see and they did. Besides, who wouldn't accept cute and beautiful girls like you when standing in front of them. I know I would." Wendy commented with a slight chuckle after Roxanne was done explaining everything to her.

Roxanne rolled her eyes when she heard Wendy's comment. It was true that she had been worried about her grandparents accepting her by just showing in front of them. Even though she looked exactly like her mother which was enough proof that she was indeed their granddaughter.

Roxanne was not expecting them to have reacted the way they welcomed her. She was still surprised by how warmly she was welcomed, even the butler and the maids treated her respectfully.

"Yeah, you were right. I was just worried for nothing." Roxanne admitted gently.

"Honestly I'm glad that they treated you warmly even though it had been years since they saw their grandparents." Wendy said.

"It just feels a little bit...." Roxanne was suddenly interrupted by Wendy.

".....Strange?" Wendy completed her sentence for her.

"Yes. How did you know that was what I was about to say?" Roxanne asked, surprised by how Wendy was quick to catch up what she was about to say.

"If I don't know well enough based on how apart we've been, I do know one thing about you Roxanne. And that is, you always feel uncomfortable and find it strange whenever you encounter people you rarely know. Your guard is always up being around people you're meeting for the first time. Although the Wilson family are your grandparents, I know you'd have a hard time before you open up fully to them which was one of the reasons why I volunteered to follow you here in the first place." Wendy explained.

"Now does that answer your question?" She added.

"Yes, you did. And you're right even though they're my grandparents, it still feels uncomfortable around them." Roxanne confessed.

"You will be fine, at least you were accepted on your first encounter. You even hugged them which could be considered as progress. Just count me in when you're up to something dangerous. Wendy said the last part which made Roxanne furrowed her brows.

"What do you mean by something dangerous?"

" Come on, you don't think I wouldn't notice? Although you still haven't told me the reason why you decided to come to the country now. I just want you to know that whatever reasons you have or whatever you're up to just know that I've got your back." Wendy stated. She know that Roxanne had a reason for coming back to the country and also had her motives for deciding to visit her grandparents out of the blue, immediately she came back

Roxanne was a little speechless when she heard Wendy, sometimes she used to forget that her best friend was not just an ordinary looking lady. She was smarter than she looked.

"You got me there but still I can't involve you yet with whatever am up to right now." Roxanne said sharply.

"I am telling you not to ask for your permission. Furthermore, did you think I'd let you do dangerous things on your own, mother would definitely kill me if she finds out that I let you do things on your own." Wendy said. She knew that Roxanne wouldn't want to agree to her help, so she had already made the decision to refuse no matter what.

"Ah, that reminds me. Mother would be shocked and surprised if I told her that you are back in the country." Wendy added.

"Aunty would definitely be. I missed her a lot already." Roxanne said with a smile on her face when she thought of her aunty. In her past life, Amanda was one of the people that Roxanne casted aside after she met Bruce.

Wendy's mother, Amanda Miller was her mother's best friend, just like how she and Wendy are friends now. Amanda never liked Anthony from the start when Evelyn told her about him. She had always told Evelyn that Anthony was after her status and property but then Evelyn didn't reason much about it. She always told Amanda that it was because Amanda didn't spend time to know Anthony that was why she thinks that he was after her status and property.

Evelyn didn't think that Anthony was after her properties, since this was an arranged marriage there was no way he'd be interested in company shares.

It was only when she found out about Anthony's relationship with Martha which was already too late because she had already given birth to Roxanne then back did Evelyn finally realize that Anthony never loved her, he was only after her property.

Without wasting any more time Evelyn told Amanda about what happened, Amanda was the only person Evelyn told about Anthony's relationship with Martha. She was scared of what Old Walter would do if he found out about everything. So she willed all her property, company shares and other investments she has to five year old daughter. Few months after she willed her property to her daughter Evelyn died of a mysterious sickness.

Roxanne sighed when she thought about how many mistakes she had made in her past life. Just thinking about it wants to make her smack herself for being so stupid and gullible to trust Bruce of all people.

But in this lifetime Roxanne had made up her mind to amend her mistakes, she would use the knowledge of her past life to her benefit this time around.

"Thank you so much Wendy. I owe you a lot." Roxanne said she was grateful that she had a friend like Wendy. Before she hadn't realized that Wendy was only looking out for her in the past, it was already too late before she could realize her mistake. It's no longer too late now anymore for her.

"You don't have to thank me. Have you forgotten that we grew up together, I no longer see you as my best friend, we are now sisters and no matter what happens I will always have your back." Wendy stated.

"I know you do." Roxanne replied faintly.

The two best friends continued to talk some more before Wendy asked Roxanne to go to bed. She know that Roxanne was already tired based on her tone, so she decided to let her rest, she had a long and tired day already.

"Alright, see you later, bye." Wendy said.

"Hmm, bye," Roxanne said as she hung up the call.
