The Adventurer Army and the Axis Cultist arrived in the scene at the exact same time. Right in front of us is a sight to behold.
It is a purple slime monster the size of my mansion. It has large glowing yellow eyes and numerous sharp teeth. The slime floats on top of a black, bubbling, poisonous puddle of hot spring. A skeleton of human floats on top of its head.
In front of the slime is a red haired woman wearing a red cloak. She has a pair of goat-like horns at the side of her head and a cruel grin on her face. Her arms are held out as her hand gripped the neck of an innocent young woman, strangling her on top of the poison pond.
"Hahaha! So you fools have finally arrived!" The woman yelled, cackling madly as the girl began kicking her feet into the air. "Picture me impressed, I wouldn't have thought that anyone would buy your stupid ramblings! So? Are you here to save this girl?"
The Axis Cultists gasped after hearing that. They began talking to each other as realization dawned upon them. Cries of regret and panic began spreading through the crowds. Some tried to blame each other, but before things could escalate…
"Oh what is this?" the evil woman grinned and begun laughing loudly. "AHAHA!!! Oh I expected too much from any of you…" she turned towards Lynn. "Ne, brave little Cultist… Can you guess why they're here?"
The woman threw Lynn aside, away from the slime. Her body crumpled on to the ground with numerous bruises all over her body. She gritted her teeth, letting out a whimper of pain every now and then.
"They're here for ME! Wolbach! The Goddess of Wrath and Sloth!!!" Wolbach started walking towards the crowds. "The seeds of anarchy I've planted over the past decades have came to a fruition! I've turned you all into outcast! I've defiled your precious religion! I've pit you against your most precious ally, the Eris Sect!!!"
Thudding sound came from the Axis Cultist. Almost all of them dropped down as colors left their faces, others wept in fear and regret, some even started grabbing their heads and begun crying in anguish. The reality, the truth, the fact that everything they've ever known was a lie, the fact that those they've treated enemies are their friends all along.
"Ahahaha!!! Where's your Goddess now Alcanretia!?" Wolbach walked towards the downed Lynn and grabbed her by the chest. "Go ahead, pray, see if your goddess listens! See if your precious goddess listens to you anymore!!!"
Then, Lynn began to pray. Her voice weak and hurt, but she closed her eyes and started praying.
"Aqua sama… Help us… Give us mercy… For everything we've done…"
Many words of prayer were whispered by Lynn who looked more and more weak as seconds went by. The Axis Cultist, seeing this, started muttering their prayer also.
"Aqua sama, forgive us!"
"Aqua sama please guide us!"
"Aqua sama save us!!!"
"Aqua sama!!!"
The cultist cried to the heavens. It almost felt like there was no hope for them anymore. Even the adventurers started praying to Eris in hopes of saving the Axis Cultist. It went on for a few minutes, but…
"Fufufu… I think you've mistaken…" Wolbach cackled some more with glee. "I AM YOUR GOD!!!" she slammed Lynn back on the ground. "You're supposed to pray to me, WOLBACH!!! The Goddess of Sloth and Wrath!!! There is no god but me!"
"No…"
Wolbach stopped and looked at the downed girl below her. "What was that?"
"You're… not a god… Aqua sama… Aqua will… she will…"
"You'd die just like the rest of these horrible fools!" Wolbach grabbed the girl by the neck with both hands.
"Where is your god! Show me! Even if she exist, why would she even save this forsaken cult!? Hated and a burden to those around them, you arrogant cultist! Now die!!!"
A flash of light burst forth from the heavens. All the crying and unanswered prayers were silenced in an instant. All eyes were wide open at the sight before them.
A beautiful, haunting, captivating melody came from the heavens. The music echoes through the mind of everyone present, it brought hope to the hopeless, it brought relief to the anxious, it brought love to those with the broken heart.
Then, she descended from the heavens… Her hair flows gently like the calm ocean, her body shone like a reflection of the moonlight, her hagoromo sways in the wind like a pair of wings. Her face was closed, both of her hands is pressed on her mouth as she plays a musical instrument.
Everyone at the scene bows down in her presence. There's no mistaking it, this is truly it, the real goddess of Water, the goddess of the Axis Order.
The music went on for a few minutes, replacing all the grief and regret with love and forgiveness. One by one, the Axis Cultist raised their head, tears streaming down their faces.
Soon, the music stopped. The goddess put away the musical instrument and opened her eyes. A pair of blue eyes as vast as the ocean itself gazed upon the scene in front of her. Then, the goddess begun to spoke.
"Well I must say… I… uhh… Etto…"
…
"Hands off my believer Wolbach!!!"
Why did I even bother writing her a script?
Wolbach blinked a little, visibly resisted an urge to face palm, before forcing a smirk. "Release her you say? What an interesting choice of words, goddess," she stepped back and held Lynn above the poison pond. "As you wish…"
"STOP! Wait, wait! I can't revive Lynn if-"
"SILENCE!!! You don't get to demand anything from me, goddess!"
Good save there Wolbach, I will force Aqua to thank you later. I promise…
However, it seems that I've rubbed off Lynn much more than I gave her credit for. The girl whispered something to Wolbach and the evil god nodded a little.
"Oh, what is this? You have something you wanted to say to your stupid goddess?" the emotion in that sentence was honest and came from the heart. "Aqua! Why don't you come over here and listen to this child you've failed to save?"
"No, Aqua sama!"
"It's a trap!"
What seems to be a heartfelt exchange between a believer and the goddess was actually Lynn, reminding Aqua about her own lines. The goddess giggled sheepishly, hopefully it sounds like crying. Wolbach let out a groan of frustration, hopefully it sounds mocking.
"So! What will it be? Aqua sama?" Wolbach asked loudly with a mocking grin. "Your cute little follower? Or you…"
Aqua took a deep breath. She raised her staff and aimed it at Wolbach. "Now that I'm down here, no forces on this world can stop me from saving my beloved believers! Now release her!!!"
"As you wish!" Wolbach laughed and tossed Lynn into the puddle of black poison slime.
"No!" Aqua lunged after Lynn and embraced her tightly. She brought her close into her embrace and they both fell into the poison puddle.
"Aqua SAMA!!!" The crowds yelled in horror and disbelief.
"AHAHAHA!!!" Wolbach laughed victoriously as the slime behind her began to trash around in excitement. "It is the end of the Axis Order! Now, you will all bow down to me, KNEEL!!!"
But then, a voice came from within the pond…
"SACRED PURIFICATION!!!"
A beam of light shot out of the pond. It hits the slime monster and it wailed in agony as a part of its body melted away into pure water. The beam of light kept going and going, spreading outwards until it purified the entire pond.
Wolbach watched in faux disbelief as Lynn and Aqua stepped out of pond unscathed. Moreover, Lynn's condition looked even better than before she dipped into the pond.
"Wh-what is this? Impossible!!!"
Aqua opened her mouth as if she wants to say something. Then, Lynn started whispering something to her.
"You might have defiled my religion, Wolbach! Warping my sacred text and pit them against my beloved junior, but there is one thing you failed to do," Aqua stepped towards her, her fist glows a little in power. "You failed to erase the faith of my believers!!! And their faith gives me power to face you!"
Wolbach turned towards the slime. "Hans! I'll let you deal with these foolish mortals! I will deal with this retarded goddess!"
Aqua turned to the rest of us.
"Adventurers!!! Pray upon your god and they shall answer! Pray to me, pray to Eris, or anyone else! Then you shall have the power to fight this terrible creature!"
"GOD BLOW!"
"Teleport!"
The two of them vanished without a trace, leaving behind a gigantic slime monster, an army of adventurers, and an army of cultists.
I raised my sword and let my killing intent blast the enemy. "You heard our goddess! Let's destroy this fucker!!!"
"YEAH!!!"
