It's a few hours after my daily class. Yunyun and I walked through the bustling streets of Axel city. She's still blushing a little after what happened during support skill and spell lesson. The amount of thief that tried to strip her naked was a little too much for the poor Crimson Demon.
"So, you want to eat something Yunyun?"
"N-no! It's okay Kazuma san, you don't have to bother…"
After walking for a while, we saw a slightly crowded kebab stall. I noticed Megumin's gaze lingering on it and I led her towards it. I waited in line like a good Axel Citizen I am while wadding through my wallet.
"How may I help, Ah! Kazuma sama, good afternoon!" the clerk said with a goofy grin.
"Yeah, two kebab please," I told him.
The owner started making the kebab while we doing some idle chat. "Say, Kazuma sama, have you hear about an exploding monster?" he asked.
"A cre*per?"
"I'm not sure that's what it's called. But some people said that around keele's dungeon there's been sighting of a masked doll that explodes on contact," he explained.
"Hee," I turned to Yunyun who just shook her head unknowingly. "I'll keep it mind, thanks for the info oji san," I told him.
"You're welcome Kazuma sama, here, for you and your," the oji san's eyes widened a little. "Ara, I thought it was Megumin sama, but apparently I was wrong."
"Ah, this is Yunyun, you could say she's a relative of hers, say hi Yunyun,"
"Hi" she said with a small wave.
"Welcome to Axel, Yunyun san! Have a nice day!"
With that, we bid the kebab stall owner farewell before continuing around the city. We saw a shooting games in a distance away from us. There's a sign written there, no archer, no using the snipe skill, and all members of Fantastic Dreamer has to pay three times the price.
"Wanna have a go Yunyun?" I asked her while taking out some copper from my pocket.
"If you don't mind…" Yunyun muttered before walking towards the shooting game. It used real bows and arrows with a round end. Most of the players were couples, with the guy shooting and gifting the prize to the lady.
The clerk who saw me was about to say something but I beat him to it.
"I'm not playing! Yunyun's playing, she's no archer and she can't use snipe."
The girl tried her best, she really did. But she missed her strike and didn't get the prize she wants. Which is… Is that the winter shogun?
"Try again," I told her when she was about to give up after her first attempt.
Yunyun grabbed the bow nervously and began to draw.
"Manage your footing, one eye on the target, which one is your good eye?"
"Huh? Umm… Both?"
"Then close your left. The point end is a bit weighed, because, of course it is," I turned to the clerk who just gave me a sheepish smile. "And the feathers are asymmetric. You want to aim slightly to the upper left of your target."
The Crimson Demon whispered 'okay' under her breath before releasing the arrow. It flew through the air and almost missed. The Winter Shogun dropped and Yunyun just got her first price. "Yay! I did it!"
The clerk sighed a little and handed her the prize. "It seems that banning you from playing isn't enough," he muttered.
"No hard feelings man," I said.
We walked through the streets once again, looking around once in a while for any game that catches her interest. I was banned from most of the games here or has to pay triple the price. But there are some who isn't from Axel and has no idea who I am.
"All right, next challenger–! Is there no one else–?"
A challenge eh? "Come on Yunyun, this sounds interesting," I said.
Following the source of that noise, I saw a crowd gathering around a spot. Most of the people in the crowd with beefy, muscular guys who obviously worked out.
"All right! I'm next!" The one who stepped up was a man with bulging muscles, who looked like an adventurer.
I recognized him as one of the adventurer in the guild. He's a vanguard, he was one of Megumin's or Darkness's student I think, maybe.
The man picked up a hammer prepared by the store owner…
"Warrgghhh!" And swung down mightily.
The hammer slammed on top of a huge chunk of adamantite. With each smash, sparks flew out of it. After the pounding by the hammer, the indestructible material was…
"Damn, this still isn't enough…"
Unharmed because you can't break adamantite without advanced magic.
The stall owner looked very satisfied after seeing that.
"My friend here failed! The prize is now 125,000 Eris! The entrance fee is 10,000 Eris! For every challenger that loses, the prize will increase by 5,000 Eris! Is there anyone else who is confident in your arm strength? Magic is fine too! This is Adamantite, if you can break this thing, you'll be known as a top-class adventurer! Come, isn't there anyone else who wants to test their might?"
Oh, really now? Well, I'm just gonna wait this out then. Or, even better…
"Oi Megumin, there's a guy here claiming to have an indestructible object, I'd like to hear your thought on that."
"I think he's not from around here,"
I turned to the left and saw Megumin already standing beside me. She looked at Yunyun and smirked a little. "So, had fun with my boyfriend?" she looked at the Winter Shogun doll in Yunyun's hand and narrowed her eyes. "A Winter Shogun?"
"Y-you want it?"
"Of course not, I hate that thing."
Huh, looks like Megumin's still a bit sensitive about the Winter Shogun fiasco.
The prize money was over 200,000 Eris before we knew it. The crowd was getting bigger, and the owner of the stall yelled to raise the tension higher.
"Is Adamantite too difficult for the people in this town? I came here because I heard this town took down the Mobile Fortress Destroyer! Is there no one who can break this stone? Come on, come on! Is there no other challenger?"
"Oh, sounds like a personal challenge there, what do you think Megumin?"
The explosive loli cracked her knuckles. "He's going to regret stepping foot into this town," she stepped through the crowds and those who saw her quickly stepped aside.
Whispers came from the Axel citizens when they realized who just arrived. As the main damage dealer of the Fantastic Dreamer, she known for her strength, destructive power, and overall badassery. Heck, she's known as person who can stood toe to toe with Satou Kazuma, the most powerful adventurer in Axel.
The surrounding townspeople started whispering to each other.
"Oi, oi, isn't that Megumin?"
"Megumin? That Megumin? Holy shit!
"Oh that guy's fucked!"
"Get him sensei, come on, get him!"
The stall owner tilted his head in confusion after seeing Megumin stepping in front of him. "What are you doing here little girl?" he asked. "Or are you perhaps curious about the challenge? Don't bother kid, you better save up your money for something else."
Every single Axel citizen shot the stall owner 'you are so dead' look.
Megumin took out her crystal staff and fluttered her cape. Her eyes gleamed in the Darkness, like a demon of destruction.
"I am Megumin! The Strongest Archwizard of Axel and the Master of the Strongest Spell, the Explosion Spell! I hail from the famed Crimson Demon Clan and part of Fantastic Dreamer, the Strongest Party in Axel!"
I walked towards the confused stall owner with some silver coins. "Ano, I'm this girl's boyfriend. Here's the payment, thank you,"
My extremely casual and hurried introduction elected some laughter from the townsfolk. Though, they're all watching Megumin in interest while also keeping a safe distance. None of them bothers to warn the stall owner about her.
"Whoa, that's Satou Kazuma!"
"Wait, they're dating?"
"Dude! Do you live under a rock? They've been official for weeks now!
Megumin took a deep breath. She twirled her staff in the air before slamming it down on to the ground. The explosion launched her ten feet into the air, creating some cheers from the audience.
Five magic circles appeared on the sky above her. Each one of them are bigger than the other, with the largest big enough to cover the entire street.
The air around us began to shudder and I stood in front of the nearest crowd protectively.
Megumin dived down to the ground with her staff held high. The staff glows and crackles with pure destructive power. The tip of it even have a black hole of some sort swirling around it. The magic circles spun in midair but didn't seem to shoot out anything.
Except for the fact that the magic circle is shooting Megumin from the sky to the adamantite below.
'BOOM'
A powerful shock wave powerful enough to split the earth shot out into the heavens right where her staff connects with the adamantite. No sooner after that, a beam of destructive power shot out to the heavens, like a pillar of light or an interstellar death ray.
The adamantite slowly cracked under the world breaking pressure before…
'BOOM
It shatters under the pressure and the magic rings faded away from existence. Megumin landed gently in front of the shattered adamantite and wiped her brow in exhaustion. "Phew, twas a challenge to keep this street intact through the entire process…"
Everyone just stood in shocked silence at the display of power they just witnessed. The stall owner, at loss of words, could only gulp and watched Megumin in fear and awe.
"Now…" Megumin walked towards the stall owner, cracking her knuckles along the way. "You better pay the promised money and I will let that little girl comment pass…"
The stall owner took out a huge bag of money and handed it to her. "Y-yes, I'm sorry," he said before skipping town.
Megumin then turned towards me with her eyes closed and a sweet smile on her face. "I win some money Kazuma kun!" she exclaimed.
"Good work Megumin chan," I pet her head a little before holding her hands.
Just like that, we continued our way through the street like a pair of totally normal couple. I mean, this isn't a big deal right? We were just playing around.
