Good Hills High School in Kyoto was known for its excellent academic reputation, attracting the best and brightest students in the region. However, the school was also infamous for its high rate of bullying incidents. In a school filled with intelligent students, there were always those who felt the need to exert their dominance over others, and the weaker students often bore the brunt of their aggression.
One such student was a shy, introverted boy named Tatsuya. He was known for his exceptional grades and his love of reading, which often made him the target of ridicule from his classmates. They would call him names, knock his books out of his hands, and trip him in the hallways, all while the teachers turned a blind eye.
Tatsuya tried his best to ignore the bullying and focus on his studies, but it became increasingly difficult as the taunts and jeers grew more frequent and vicious. He was starting to feel like he didn't belong in the school at all, and the thought of dropping out had started to cross his mind.
One day, Tatsuya found himself in the school nurse's office after being pushed down the stairs by one of his bullies. As he sat there, nursing his bruises and trying to ignore the pain, he couldn't help but feel like something was off about the nurse. She had a strange aura about her, and her eyes seemed to linger on him for just a bit too long.
"Are you feeling better?" the nurse asked, her voice low and almost hypnotic.
Tatsuya nodded, not quite trusting himself to speak. He couldn't explain it, but something about the nurse made him uneasy.
"Don't worry," she said, placing a hand on his arm. "I'm here to help you."
Tatsuya looked at her hand and then back up at her face. "H-how?" he stammered.
The nurse smiled, revealing a row of sharp, pointed teeth. "I have the power to protect you from your bullies," she said. "All you have to do is give me your power in return."
Tatsuya didn't understand what she meant, but he was desperate for a way out of his current situation. "W-what do you mean, give you my power?"
The nurse leaned in closer, her breath hot on his ear. "I am a succubus," she whispered. "And I feed on the energy of others. If you allow me to take some of your power, I can use it to protect you from your bullies. I can make them suffer, just like they've made you suffer."
Tatsuya didn't know what to think. He had always been a logical, rational person, and the idea of succubi and magical powers seemed like something out of a fantasy novel. But the nurse's eyes glowed with an otherworldly intensity, and he couldn't shake the feeling that she was telling the truth.
"I-I don't know," he stammered. "What happens if I say no?"
The nurse's smile turned into a sinister grin. "If you say no," she said, "I will have to punish you. And trust me, you don't want to know what that entails."
Tatsuya felt a shiver run down his spine. He didn't want to find out what the nurse meant by "punish," but he also didn't want to give up his power to this mysterious succubus.
"I need some time to think," he said, standing up from the bed. "Can I come back tomorrow?"
The nurse nodded, still smiling. "Of course," she said. "Take all the time you need. But remember, if you tell anyone about me or ask for help, there will be consequences."
Tatsuya left the nurse's office feeling more confused and scared than ever. He couldn't shake the feeling that he had just made a deal with a devil, but at the same time, the thought of someone finally protecting him from his bullies was too tempting to resist.
He spent the rest of the day in a daze, barely paying attention in his classes and jumping at every sound. He kept replaying the nurse's words in his head, trying to figure out what to do next.
As the day turned into night, Tatsuya found himself unable to sleep. He kept tossing and turning, his mind racing with all the different scenarios that could play out if he agreed to the nurse's deal. Eventually, he got out of bed and went to his desk, hoping that studying would take his mind off things.
But just as he was about to open his textbook, he heard a soft knock on his window. He froze, his heart pounding in his chest, and slowly turned around to face the window.
There, on the other side of the glass, was the nurse. She was floating outside his window, her eyes glowing in the darkness.
"Tatsuya," she whispered, her voice like a siren's call. "I need your answer."
Tatsuya felt a surge of fear and anger at the same time. How dare she come to his room like this, uninvited and unwelcome? But he also couldn't deny the power that she seemed to possess.
"I-I don't know," he stammered. "I need more time."
The nurse smiled, her teeth glinting in the moonlight. "I can give you all the time you need," she said. "But remember, your bullies won't wait for you to make up your mind. They will continue to torment you until you do something about it."
Tatsuya knew she was right. He couldn't keep living like this, constantly looking over his shoulder and dreading the next attack. But he also couldn't bring himself to trust the nurse, no matter how much she promised to help him.
"I'll...I'll think about it," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
The nurse nodded, and then disappeared into the night. Tatsuya was left alone with his thoughts, more confused and scared than ever before.
The next day at school, Tatsuya found that things had only gotten worse. His bullies had escalated their attacks, now openly taunting him in front of other students and even throwing things at him in class. He could feel their eyes on him wherever he went, and he knew that he couldn't keep living like this.
At lunchtime, he found himself drawn to the nurse's office once again. He knew that he had to make a decision, one way or another.
When he entered the room, the nurse was waiting for him. She looked at him expectantly, her eyes boring into his.
"Well?" she said.
Tatsuya took a deep breath, and then said, "I'll do it. I'll give you my power."
The nurse smiled, a cruel, knowing smile. "Excellent," she said. "Now, just hold still. This won't hurt a bit."
Tatsuya felt a sharp pain in his chest, and then everything went black.
When he woke up, he was lying on the bed in the nurse's office. He felt different somehow, like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders.
The nurse was standing over him, looking pleased. "There," she said. "Now, let's get to work."
For the next few days, Tatsuya watched as his bullies started to suffer. They would trip and fall for no reason, or get caught cheating on tests.
Some even seemed to be losing their minds, muttering to themselves and staring off into space.
At first, Tatsuya felt a sense of satisfaction at their misfortune. But as the days went on, he began to feel uneasy. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was not right, that he had made a deal with a monster.
Then, one night, he woke up to find the nurse standing at the foot of his bed. Her eyes were glowing, and her skin seemed to be pulsing with a sickly green light.
"Tatsuya," she said, her voice low and menacing. "You've been holding back on me. I know you've been telling people about our deal."
Tatsuya felt a cold sweat break out on his forehead. "I haven't told anyone," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
The nurse leaned in closer, her breath hot on his face. "Don't lie to me," she said. "I can smell the fear on you. And I can feel your power slipping away."
Tatsuya didn't know what to do. He had never felt so helpless in his life. He wanted to scream, to run away, but he was frozen in place.
The nurse reached out and grabbed him by the throat, her fingers like steel. Tatsuya gasped for air, feeling like he was being crushed from the inside out.
"You made a deal with me," she said, her voice rising to a scream. "And now you will pay the price."
Tatsuya felt his vision start to fade, as if he was being pulled away from reality. But then, he remembered something. Something that the nurse had said to him in their first meeting.
"I know your secret," he gasped. "I know what you are."
The nurse hesitated for a moment, her grip loosening slightly. "What are you talking about?" she said.
Tatsuya took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. "You're a succubus," he said. "A demon who feeds on the energy of others."
The nurse's eyes widened, and for a moment, Tatsuya thought he had made a terrible mistake. But then, she started to laugh.
"You're smarter than I gave you credit for," she said, her voice returning to its seductive tone. "But it doesn't matter. You're mine now, Tatsuya. And there's no escape."
Tatsuya felt a surge of anger, and with it, a surge of power. He pushed the nurse away from him, feeling a rush of energy flowing through his body.
"You're wrong," he said, his voice strong and sure. "I may have made a mistake in trusting you, but I won't let you control me anymore. I'm taking back my power."
The nurse looked at him, her eyes blazing with fury. "You will regret this," she said.
And then, she was gone. Tatsuya was left alone in his room, feeling stronger and more alive than he had in years. He knew that he had a long road ahead of him, that he would have to face his bullies and the consequences of his actions.
But for the first time in his life, he felt like he had the strength to do it. And he knew that he would never make a deal with a demon again.
