Chapter 78 - Chapter 73: The Incident from1995

Himiko had always been fascinated with horror stories. As a student at Good Hill's High School in Kyoto, Japan, she had heard many tales about the school's dark past. The most disturbing of these was the story of a teacher who, in 1995, had accidentally stabbed a student during class and had disappeared somewhere in the school.

It was a story that had been whispered about for years, and as a senior, Himiko was determined to get to the bottom of it. She had always been curious about the school's history, and this story seemed like the perfect opportunity to do some investigating.

One day, after school, Himiko gathered a few of her closest friends and told them about the teacher who had accidentally stabbed a student. They were all intrigued and decided to help her with her investigation. They knew it wouldn't be easy, but they were determined to find out what had happened.

Their first step was to ask around and see if anyone knew anything about the incident. They soon discovered that most of the teachers and staff who had been at the school in 1995 had either retired or moved on, and those who remained were tight-lipped about the incident.

Undeterred, Himiko and her friends continued to search for clues. They spent hours poring over old yearbooks and school records, looking for any mention of the incident. They also talked to students who had been at the school in 1995, hoping to find someone who had firsthand knowledge of what had happened.

One day, while exploring the school's gym, they stumbled upon a strange mattress hidden in a corner. It was covered in dust and cobwebs and looked like it hadn't been touched in years. Himiko and her friends were curious and decided to investigate.

As they approached the mattress, they noticed a strange smell emanating from it. It was a musty, unpleasant odor that made them all feel uneasy. They hesitated for a moment, but their curiosity got the better of them, and they decided to take a closer look.

Himiko carefully lifted the edge of the mattress, and as she did, a cloud of dust rose into the air. She coughed and waved her hand to clear the dust, and as she did, she saw something that made her blood run cold.

There, on the mattress, was a large, rusty knife.

Himiko gasped and took a step back. Her friends crowded around her, all of them staring at the knife in horror. It was old and rusty, with a curved blade and a wooden handle. They all knew immediately that it was the same type of knife that had been used in the 1995 incident.

Suddenly, they heard a noise behind them, and they spun around to see a figure standing in the doorway of the gym. It was a man, tall and thin, with wild hair and a gaunt face. He was wearing a tattered suit, and his eyes were dark and sunken.

Himiko and her friends froze, unsure of what to do. The man stared at them for a moment, then turned and disappeared down the hall.

Himiko and her friends were terrified. They knew they had stumbled onto something dangerous, and they didn't know what to do next. They quickly left the gym and headed back to their dorms, vowing to never return to that place again.

That night, as they lay in their beds, Himiko and her friends couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched. They could hear strange noises in the hallway outside their room, and the hairs on the back of their necks stood up.

Just as they were about to fall asleep, they heard a knock at the door. Himiko hesitated for a moment, then got up and opened it.

Standing in the doorway was the same gaunt man they had seen in the gym earlier. Himiko's heart raced as she took in his wild eyes and unkempt appearance.

The man stared at her for a long moment before speaking. "You shouldn't be poking around in places you don't belong," he said in a low, raspy voice.

Himiko felt a chill run down her spine. "We were just looking around," she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.

The man took a step forward, and Himiko could smell the same musty odor that had emanated from the mattress in the gym. "You kids need to learn to mind your own business," he said, his voice rising.

Himiko's friends had gotten out of bed and were now standing behind her, their faces pale with fear.

The man took another step forward, and Himiko realized with horror that he was holding a knife. It was the same knife they had seen on the mattress in the gym, and it was gleaming in the dim light of the hallway.

Himiko and her friends were frozen with fear, unable to move or speak. They could hear their own hearts pounding in their chests as the man advanced toward them.

Just when it seemed like all was lost, they heard footsteps coming down the hallway. The man hesitated for a moment, then turned and fled down the stairs.

Himiko and her friends collapsed onto their beds, trembling with fear and relief. They knew that they had narrowly escaped a dangerous situation, and they vowed to never go looking for trouble again.

The next day, they reported the incident to the school's administration, but they were met with a wall of silence. No one wanted to talk about the 1995 incident or the mysterious man they had encountered in the gym.

Himiko and her friends continued to attend classes at Good Hill's High School, but they were always looking over their shoulders, fearful of what they might uncover. They never forgot the terror they had felt that night, and the memory of the man with the knife haunted them for years to come.

As they graduated and moved on with their lives, they never forgot the lesson they had learned. Sometimes, it was best to leave well enough alone, and some secrets were better left buried in the past.
