Chapter 1 - Waking Up

I opened my eyes and confusion flickered in my eyes. I stood up and looked around. I was in a forest. I could tell as much from the numerous trees and bushes around me. But that wasn't all. Everything was covered in snow.

I shivered slightly at the slight breeze that passed through. I looked down and noticed I had no clothes on. Thankfully no one was around to see me, but being naked out in the cold was dangerous. I knew I had to find something to cover myself with but there was nothing around here.

As I looked around I noticed something floating around. I focused on it and realized that it was a floating pale blue dot. For some reason I felt attracted to it. Before I even realized I was already in front of it. I then noticed that there was not just one dot but many. Dozens were around me floating mindlessly.

I reached out to touch the one in front of me but I couldn't. My hand simply passed through it. I titled my head slightly to the side in confusion. I thought to myself as I looked at it.

" Gua "

I winced at my mispronunciation. I touched me throat and cleared it. I hummed for a bit before attempting again.

" Go. "

It stopped floating around before going to where I wanted it to. I smiled felt a surge of excitement surge through me. I looked at the other pale blue dots and had a thought.

" Come. "

All the blue dots around me clumped around me. My smile grew even brighter but my head felt a little fuzzy. I ignored it and kept commanding the dots to do things. They swirled around me, rustled the leaves of the trees around, I even had them make a snowman.

I groaned in pain as my head started pounding. My body felt hot, my heart was pounding in my chest, I felt dizzy, I lost my balance and fell onto the snow covered ground.

I was breathing rapidly as I laid there. I clutched handfuls of snow but I started feeling weak. My body went limp as black dots covered my vision. Soon enough I lost consciousness. I'm not sure how long I was unconscious for, but I eventually woke up.

I opened my eyes slowly. I still felt slightly weak and my head was a bit mushy. I noticed I was covered in a thin layer of snow and that I was very cold. My body felt a little numb but I didn't mind it much. I crawled out of the snow and looked around. The area was much like when I first woke up. There were a couple leaves and footprints that were almost covered up.

My stomach growled and I frowned lightly. I was hungry but I didn't have anything to eat. My throat was also feeling a little dry. All that in combination with my weak body, muddled thoughts, and cold body made me rather vulnerable. Tears threatened to fall out my eyes as I sniffled a bit.

I stood up and started walking. The blue dots were still everywhere but they were more concentrated. They formed something like a misshapen line. I followed this line since I had no sense of direction, or knowledge regarding my surroundings.

As I walked I saw various things. Mostly snow alongside trees and bushes. Some of the bushes had what seemed like berries on them. However I couldn't eat them. The blue dots seemed to panic when I tried, so I hesitantly left the berries behind.

As I continued on my steps grew slower. Although I didn't mind the cold much, it was affecting me. I could feel that in a couple more hours I would probably die. My stomach growled and I wrapped my arms around it. If not the cold then starvation and dehydration would.

It was then I saw the spots gathered around something. It seemed like a bush without anything special about it. I went over to it and inspected it a bit. Eventually I noticed a hole leading down behind it. There was a tree just a bit behind the hole. The roots were mostly hiding it.

I looked up at the tree. The bark was a dark brown while the leaves were light green. Then again it was rather hard to tell due to the snow covering everything. I stopped looking at it as I started crawling down the slanted hole. It was a bit of a tight fit, and my hands, knees, and a bit of my arms.

I didn't mind it as I eventually made it into a larger but still small chamber. I wasn't able to stand but I could fully extend my body. I noticed a small bush in the corner, but most of my attention was grabbed by something else. There was a Rabbit, covered in white fur. It stated at me from the corner. We simply stated at each other for a while.

I slowly started moving towards it. It stared at me intently as I slowly closed in on it. As I got close I was ready to grab it, but as I went for it the rabbit jumped on my head. I quickly used my hands to turn around as it jumped towards the only entrance and exit. If it got away then I'm not sure the next time I would get something to eat.

" STOP! "

As the words left my mouth I felt the surrounding blue dots surge to the rabbit. One of it's let's suddenly got stiff causing it to trip. I used the opportunity to leap towards it. I pinned it's head to the ground with one of my hands. I made sure to hold it's legs down as well as it squealed. My head hurts a bit but I ignored it as my hunger controlled my movements. I moved my hand from it's legs to its body as I lifted it up. I wrapped my hand around it's neck.

" I'm sorry. "

I forced it's head back far further than would normally be possible. I heard a crack as it's struggling came to a sudden hult. I checked it's breathing and heartbeat confirming it's death. I felt a bit sad at my actions but it was out of necessity. I looked at it wondering how I would even eat it. My eyes wondered to it's face.

I put my finger into the side of it's eye, pushing my finger to the side. I felt disgusted but the feeling and I closed my eyes halfway. I took a deep breath as I started tugging on the skin. I pinned it's face down on the ground as I constantly pulled. Eventually I managed to tear the side of the eye. A sudder went through my body at the feeling.

I kept breathing as I continued tearing away thr fur covering it's body. As my hands started to get covered in blood I stopped. I looked at what I've done and I started feeling nauseous. The smell of blood wasn't helping either. I felt like I was going to throw up so I closed my eyes. Darkness overtook my vision as I kept breathing.

' I need to do this. If I don't eat it then it's likely I'll die of starvation. Death is a natural part of life. There's nothing wrong with killing out of necessity. The soft hearted are the first to die. I need to be hard like crystals but fluid like water. Only then can I truly shine and do what I need to. '

An unrecognizable figure appeared in my head, but disappeared soon after appearing. I ignored it as I opened my eyes, much more calm then before. I continued tearing away the fur.
