Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: The Borg

Are you fucking kidding me!? I couldn't cut off his leg and the sword got stuck in his bone.

"Oh no!" The boar start running away with his sword stuck in his leg.

I must not let go of the sword.

The boar drags me 5 meters until the sword detaches from his leg.

Did he run away?

As I stand up I come eye to eye with a borg, it looks like a wild boar but it is much bigger, tougher, its tusks are longer and the easiest way to differentiate it from a wild boar are its horns, it has 2 horns that are next to its ears and are extended over the eyes.

Do I have any chance to get rid of him?

Never mind the odds, even with a missing leg he's still faster than me.

The Borg looks at me while pounding the ground with his front legs.

It seems he doesn't want to let me get away.

I'm running out of time, it coming at me fast.

I'm going in front of a tree, when it's about to hit me I'll dodge it.

If he gets his horns caught in it I can easily kill him.

10 meters, 7, 5, 2, half a meter!

What the! It stopped before it hit the tree!

It's coming at me! I can't run away.

He bit my left leg, I can feel his fangs piercing the flesh and bone of my leg.

"Aaa!" It's starting to gnaw on my bone!

"Let meee go!!" I kick him four times with my heel in his nose but to no avail.

The Borg takes off running, dragging me with him.

If I don't free myself as soon as possible, I'll end up fainting from blood loss and blows.

I grab the hairs on his back with my right hand, lift my whole body off the ground, and stick the tip of my sword into his left eye until I touch the bone of his forehead.

"Oinkkk!"

He still doesn't want to let me go.

Damn it!

I strike his belly with the hilt of my sword three times and hear a crack.

"Oinkkkk!"

It worked, he let me go. He still has the guts to fight after I cracked his skull.

He's kicking again, what do I do?

If I try to do what I did before, I'm guaranteed to die.

I get down on my knees, stick the tip of the sword into the ground with the blade pointed at the borg coming towards me.

The Borg went into the sword blade with his nose but still keeps pushing.

I've been pushed more than a meter, if it doesn't stop I'll end up with my back against the tree and the horns will pierce my chest.

I touched the tree with my back. Just give up!

"Oinkkkk!"

He can't anymore, he go back!

I pull the sword out of his nose that split in half.

I throw myself on my belly and stuck the sword into his throat, but I don't have enough strength left to penetrate his skin.

I thrust the hilt of the sword into the ground and to my luck the borg start to runs forward.

The sword pierces his neck and heart, and the borg falls to the ground.

I take the sword out of his throat and stand up.

"Huh?" When I step with my left foot I lose my balance.

I didn't feel any pain so I forgot that my leg is only held by my armor and the skin that remained uneaten.

If I didn't have the armor, I would probably lose my leg.

I lean my back against a tree and take the armor off my left leg.

It's no good, if I lose any more blood, I won't last.

I straighten my leg, take the silk with which I wrapped the candy and wrap it around the leg.

I take a straight stick from beside me, place it on my leg and tie it with the straps of the armor piece I took off.

"Ahh." No! I'm getting sleepy.

"Ahh." I can't fall asleep here, if another b...

-Some time later-

"Teo!!"

"I found him Andersen."

"Teo, Teo! Wake up!"

"I woke up!"

"What happened? Why are you covered in blood and your leg is bandaged?"

"I fought with the borg and he bit my leg. I bandaged it up because it was broken, and all that was holding it together was the armor and part of the skin."

"All right, all right. I'll look at your leg.

Tell me if it hurts."

Hendi carefully unties the straps and removes the stick.

"Does it hurt?"

"No, but why did you come after me?"

"Well, Hendi got worried after hearing the borg scream so many times.

At first we didn't think you were fighting with him, but as his screams became more and more frequent we got worried."

"I'm so relieved. Your leg is fine Teo, it's a little bruised but that'll go away in a week."

"What?? I know I had my bone destroyed after the borg bit me."

"That doesn't matter anymore. Let's just be glad we don't have to amputate your leg."

I can't take my eyes off the bruise. Did I dream about the time he bit me?

I lift my head and glance at the borg's eye.

His skull is broken around the eye, there's no way I could have imagined everything.

I remain speechless and stare blankly.

I am no longer aware of anything going on around me, my mind tries to find an explanation for it but without success.

"Still, it's incredible that you managed to kill a borg by yourself.

Even I would have had trouble fighting him using only a sword."

"Are you serious Andersen?"

"You realize I wouldn't lie to you. The blow that ended it was that one in the neck, you stabbed him right through the heart."

His words feed my ego.

It's no good! I was on the verge of death.

If I let myself be driven by ego next time I really will die.

"Andersen, let's go get the wagon.

Teo, if you go straight ahead you'll get to a stream.

Go there to wash off the blood."

I get ready to walk in the direction Hendi showed me, but before that I kick with my left foot into the ground 3 times.

"If you still want to hunt, try looking for something smaller.

Everything ends once you die, Teo."

Hendi was very serious when she said that.

I don't want any more of that either, at least I'll be praised by my father, maybe I'll get a reward too.

Turns out it wasn't that far.

Near the stream I find a rock on which the sun is beating, big enough to stretch my clothes.

I take my armor, shirt, sword, talisman and the rinnng, I pull the ring but I still can't get it off.

Since I put it on my finger, I haven't been able to get it off.

That is, at least I can't lose it.

-10 minutes later-

I finish washing the clothes and the talisman, place them on the stone and now it's my turn.

Before I forget, i put the candy on the armor.

A place where the water is deeper.

"Hmm." I carefully follow the area through which the stream passes and a little further down it disappears.

I wonder what's in there?

I go to check and find a bump in the ground, it's over 2 meters.

The stream flows like a waterfall and all the water gathers in one area, the perfect place to bathe in.

"Uhh." How refreshing is the water in this suffocating heat.

-20 minutes later-

It's time to get out, I still want to hunt something.

I go to the stone and put on my shirt, armor and the talisman, after that i put the candy in my pocket.

Where should I go?

I go after the stream, I have a better chance of encountering animals, and I'll know how to get back if I go too deep into the woods.

I walk and come across a rabbit who drinks water, today I'm really lucky.

With small steps I approach him, another 2 meters and I got him.

"Damn!" He start to running away.

I follow him for over a minute and he still doesn't slow down.

Still ahead is a tree much bigger than 10 put side by side.

If he keeps going forward, there's no way he'll escape.

He suddenly jumps into a bush next to the tree and I can't see him anymore.

Must be in the bush.

I ripped off part of the bush but no trace of him.

"Where is he?" He had nowhere to run.

I pull the rest of the bush aside and find the hiding place.

There's a hollow in the tree so large that I can fit in it.

I get down on my knees and go into the hollow.

It looks like a ladder leading up.

With every step I take the light becomes weaker and weaker.

In a short time I become unable to see anything, and my hearing and sense of touch are the only things that help me.

"How long have I been crawling through the hollow?"

Is the tree really that long? And why is it so quiet?

All I can hear is my heartbeat and the drops of sweat dripping off me.

Maybe I'd better get back.

No! I'll go a little further.

I have to get to the top eventually.

A ray of light begins to shine my way.

"Finally!" I have to hurry, I don't want to stay here anymore.
