Alexa groaned; the darkness of unconsciousness slowly faded from her injured mind. One by one her senses began to return to her. The first sense to return to her was feeling, and the first thing she felt was pain, such immense pain, it almost felt like her body was on fire. She felt her throat constrict with her urge to scream. The second sense to return was her hearing which came blaring through her ears causing her tired mind to protest.
The sounds of her surroundings came crashing through the blissful silence, making her wince at the sudden change. Her body was unable to keep up with her brain's commands to move away from the offending sounds.
