Prologue: Worst case scenario; you'd die

Such a good day to go to a restaurant, or going out with friends to hang out. The latter was my initial plan, waking up early in the morning being excited for what comes today.

But of course, that plan is foiled.

I have 1 friend who always interrupts me in the middle of nowhere. There could be a Typhoon or a massive earthquake coming and I wouldn't be surprised if she has plans for us.

And as fate would have it, she rang me up first thing in the morning after waking up. Refusing her is like defusing a bomb when you're not an expert. You don't know what you're doing and in the worst case scenario you'd die.

And that's how I ended up here, on this bridge at the edge of town.

"What are you doing this time? And where are the others?"

The culprit to my weekend freedom was leisurely looking out at town barely behind the railing as both of her hands were occupied with binoculars. I could push her slightly and she would fall. In fact, I had the tiniest bit of interest in doing so but I resist.

"A crow said 1 of our classmates is going to confess their love to someone over there, if they succeed then that'll be huge news for us!"

'Crow' is what she calls her informants and aren't you basically stalking?

She clearly saw my disgusted face looking down on the miserable, pitiful creature, as she followed up with.

"tsk, tsk, tsk, silly Izumi. A journalist must go to greater lengths to gather intel for their story! In fact, I think we're too far away, we can't even hear them."

She backed off the railing and set out moving ever so closer to her victims. She hurried her legs with her usual speed that I'm fairly confident can rival even Olympic gold medalists.

Yes, this Athletic, high energy, sunglasses wearing girl was a "Journalist". Writing and researching stories for the school's Newspaper club

I am just a humble high school student, transferring to this town just a few weeks back. I came from the big city after my dad decided to go back to the town he grew up in,

I'd like to think that this town was boring, that there's nothing to do in such a remote part of the country, growing up in a city means you're used to having convenient day to day life services like the internet.

But there's always one thing keeping me busy here, no matter where I go...

"Hurry up Izumi! You're gonna miss this golden opportunity!"

This is how she entered my life, and how my life changed forever.
