After my conversation with Rebecca, the three of us left the store and got into the carriage. We were now heading to the place where the Mall was being built. On the way, Rebecca kept updating me on what was being done, besides some minor problems that occurred. The trip went quite smoothly until the carriage stopped, indicating that we had arrived at our destination.
As soon as the coachman opened the door, Rebecca, Hana, and I got out of the carriage. After that, we were on our way for a few seconds before we came face to face with a huge construction site. The structure was almost fully finished, showing that it wouldn't take more than a few months to be fully complete.
But even though it was still under construction, it was easily noticeable the grandeur that this construction would have once it was fully finished. Hana seemed amazed at what she was witnessing, while Rebecca had a smile on her face.
"It seems to be going well"
I said as I looked at the details of the construction. Some people could be seen walking from place to place, carrying something. The workers didn't even seem to notice we were there, so we were practically ignored by them.
"And the first time I seen such a big construction other than for a mansion"
Said Hana to no one in particular. It seemed that her thoughts had leaked out for a second.
"Fufufu, isn't it? Ren had the idea to build this place. This will be used in many ways, and it will also be accessible for nobles and commoners alike"
Said Rebecca, looking excited for some reason. After that, the three of us walked around the place while watching the construction progress. As we didn't want to disturb the workers, we stayed watching from afar while eating some street food. Overall, it was a very quiet inspection.
"What do we do now... go back?"
Rebecca asked from beside me.
"Let's go back. We've seen what we came to see anyway"
I said, moving towards the carriage as I was followed by Rebecca and Hana. Just before we reached the carriage, I spotted a familiar face walking down the street.
"Is that Ammy?"
I said as I pointed to the person in question. Hearing my words, both Rebecca and Hana looked in the direction I was pointing.
"I think so. She told me she would be taking care of her mother today"
Said Rebecca. Hearing her words, an idea came to me. As Ammy seemed to be going to the same place we were, I thought it would be nice to give her a ride. After that, the three of us got into the carriage, and I told the coachman to stop momentarily near the girl who was walking a little further ahead. Just as I had said, after getting into the carriage, she stopped seconds after starting to walk.
"Hello, Ammy"
I said to Ammy as I put my face out the window. Ammy looked visibly concerned initially, but soon her expression turned to one of confusion.
"Come in"
I said as the door was opened by the coachman, shyly Ammy got into the carriage and sat down next to Rebecca, who was sitting in the chair in front.
"I thought my heart was going to burst out of my chest"
Said Ammy, placing a hand over where her heart is.
"When the carriage stopped beside me, I thought I had done something wrong for some noble"
Said Hana, drawing a wry smile from Rebecca.
"Sorry about that; I just thought since we were going the same way, it would be nice to give you a ride"
Hearing my words, Ammy started waving her hands, denying something she had spoken.
"Oh, I didn't mean I didn't like it, I just thought it was rather sudden... Anyway, thanks for the ride"
Said Ammy with a soft smile on her face. She seemed genuinely happy, so I didn't pay much attention. After that, the carriage drove on for a few minutes before Ammy let us know that we had already arrived at her house. I was a little curious to know what Ammy's mother was like since she talked about it from time to time.
I never tried to delve too deeply into it, so I don't know much about it. All I know is that her father died when she was young, and her hand, which had always been relatively fragile, became even more fragile when she had her and her siblings. But apparently, her mother had been getting much better thanks to the medication she was taking.
"Ammy... would it be a bother if we could visit your home? We are friends, but I have never met your mother"
I said as I turned my gaze to Ammy. Hearing my words, Ammy put a hand to her chin and started to think about something. After a few seconds, she looked at me and put a smile on her face.
"I don't think you have a problem. My mother's condition is much better to the point that she can walk on her own for a while, and she also always says she would like to meet you"
Ammy said with a soft smile on her face.
"I see, so I apologize for the intrusion"
I said as I looked at Ammy with a soft smile on my face. After that, we all got out of the carriage and stopped in front of a relatively large two-story house. The house didn't look particularly luxurious, but it was apparent that it should be quite comfortable.
As soon as we walked to the door, Ammy took a key from her purse and unlocked the door before opening it. Once we were inside, Ammy walked over to a table and placed her purse on top of it before speaking in a relatively loud but not loud voice.
"Mom, I'm home"
Said Ammy. After a few seconds of silence, another voice echoed in the room. The voice seemed to be that of an adult woman in her 30s to 35s, although it could also be younger.
"Are you there, Ammy? Hold on a second, I'll be right down"
Said Ammy's mother. After that, some noises could be heard from the second floor, and soon a woman appeared on the stairs.
