Sasha's eyelids fluttered open, her senses gradually arousing to the delicate light separating through the drapes. Her hand instinctively reached out to the space next to her as she stirred, seeking Adam, her partner, for warmth and comfort. Like she thought of it regrettably, the bed was vacant and cool, without any trace of his presence.
She felt a tug of disappointment, a mixture of confusion and sadness swirling within her. For what reason would he say he wasn't there? Why was he silent when he left? She felt like she was being suffocated by a sense of emptiness as though the morning air had become heavy.
Hesitantly, Sasha got up, the covers sliding down her shoulders. Her feet met the cool wooden floor as she swung her legs over the bed's edge. She was preoccupied with Adam's absence, so as she got to the dining room, her steps were hesitant.
