Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Ariana's POV

As I dallied down the alley; guarded by two portal sentinels in Dothraki – a realm of werewolves according to my foe-turned-friend, Elkrina, I slowly drifted beneath the blindfold tied across my face into my fantasy world of thoughts.

Something new and different has been born in me, It was like a fresh surge of invigorating blood was pumping from my heart to my entire body. Elkrina said I was an Alpha hybrid, something she'd never seen before but I had seen it dozens of times in fantasy drama and series, not knowing I was only a bite away from living the same fate as those characters. I had cried earlier not because I was scared or terrified, but because it seemed a lot for me to take in and handle especially with my parents around.

I agreed to come here on one condition, that Elkrina shape-shifts into me to perform my duties, and chores and lie to my parents about the fight and every other thing which she reluctantly agreed to. It startled me to know there were other realms apart from Dothraki and my very own Earth, to think humans were the only advanced living creatures was a lie, a blatant, undeliberate one told by schools. I couldn't wait to say it all in school, but Elkrina warned me never to tell, she even made me take an oath.

I snapped out of my thought and sharpened my senses to find out where they were taking me, but I could only hear Carrie's squeals and squeaks. I had sheltered her in her pet carrier which one of the portal sentinels carried as we journeyed along the path of uncertainty. Although I leant her name was Suki, I still call her Carrie because I racked my brain to come up with the name. Today might be my last time seeing her, and I couldn't be any prouder, I felt like a responsible pet owner and wished my parents were here to see it.

I was guarded slowly unto a rugged surface I soon recognized to be stairs. They took off my blindfold, and I shielded my eyes from the light that threatened to blind me, it took some seconds for my eyes to adjust and accommodate the deluge of light. They kept Carrie beside me and left like robots programmed to carry out a task without uttering a word.

The huge palace door in front of me was engraved with archaic but beautiful designs, and embellished with reflective baubles. I recoiled as it squeaked and swung open. A hand held my fingers and guarded me and I couldn't help but allure in the sweetness of his ultra-masculine scent; it smelt of lavender and liquorice with a squirt of male sweat.

As I stepped inside, I fixed my gaze on him as he picked Carrie. I got a glimpse of his face as he smiled at me, and in that moment, my entire defence system weakened, and an unquenchable desire ignited in me. His eyes shone brightly like rays of an early morning sun. His square jaw was perfectly balanced by a high forehead and strong cheekbones.

"Bring me my pet creature, Fabian!! A stern voice echoed, and my desire dashed past me.

I turned only to see myself standing in front of council elders and someone sitting on the throne, who l recognized to be Alpha queen – according to Elkrina's description, my perception, and the authority her voice carried. I hurried along in long quick steps, having no time to catch a full glimpse of the palace, but from the little I saw, it was replete with medieval staples.

I watched intently as my desire whose name I learnt was Fabian unlatched the carrier. He pulled Carrie out and handed her over to the queen before making his way to the door. She carried and cradled Carrie to her chest, brushing her dishevelled fur with her long fingernails. I remembered when I used to do that to her and I couldn't help but fume inside.

My breath quickened as I finally caught a clear view of her face; her fiery scarlet eyes carried the depths of a blood moon, her silver hair was beautiful upon her perfect face and fell like strands of metallic silver along her slender shoulders, she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen.
