Chapter 51 - Protect the idol (Part 5)

Sitting in the front seat of the car he rubbed his eyes from under his glasses, it was around 5 in the morning, and he had joined Yoel to go pick up Embrace from their group apartment in Gangnam. The problem was he had some bad nightmares of his past and had only slept a little more than an hour; he sipped his latte from the cup through a straw under his mask.

He was again wearing a black sweatshirt with a hood over his head, this time with a baseball cap under the hood pulled low, reflective glasses covering his eyes, and a mask covering his lower face.

It was to preserve his anonymity, especially since he didn't plan on making friends with these people. Yoel suddenly opened the driver's car door and got into the driver's seat; after a few seconds, the other doors for the back of the suburban opened, and the members all piled into the car, taking up all the available seats.

Gyun, struggling to avoid falling asleep, was startled by a knock at the window. Glancing up, it was purple hair.

"That you sunshine?"

Glaring at her from under his glasses, he flipped her off before turning away and sipping his latte. She laughed as she moved to the car's back seat and sat in it shortly before the car set off to the Sunni Entertainment building for their practice.

-I'm already regretting this job-

Four weeks later,

Sitting on the building's rafters, Gyun's legs dangled off the edge of the metal support as he scanned the mass of fans. However, he had advised Sunni Entertainment's board of directors against holding such an event with a large group of people when he had yet to stop or discover the stalker's identity.

Regardless, it became impossible when the group discovered he was trying to cancel their fan meeting event. They vehemently opposed it, and eventually, the board would cave to their demands.

-This would be so much easier if this were a concert since we have the stage as a buffer, but they're all so close now that it would be nearly impossible to stop an attack in time, idiots; at least they've permitted me to increase security a bit.-

He munched on one of his meals- prepped chicken breasts with white rice, a side of boiled broccoli, and a dessert of a hard-boiled egg. It was tasteless, but he ate it regardless; it was filling and kept him from hunger.

Gyun looked down as the fans massed Embrace, who were currently doing a fan signing event below him. His cast had been removed two days before, and while his leg was still occasionally hurt, he could walk and run on it to an extent. The stabs and cuts had scarred over; luckily, most of the scars were on his legs and the top of his head and weren't visible most of the time.

Pressing the wireless earpiece that sat snugly in his ear, "Yoel, give me a security report."

"One minute, sir."

Gyun heard Yoel over the earpiece talking to the security guards, while Yoel was the only permanent security for Embrace. Sunni had brought in over a dozen security guards as guards to guard the event and Embrace.

It was a massive event; Embrace was currently the world's most famous female idol group, and more than two hundred fans attended it. The event would last over five hours and was already hour three. Gyun felt tired just watching the constant smiling and conversation the girls were having with each fan.

After a minute, Yoel returned over the radio, "Security on all exits is good; all guests are behaving..."

Swallowing his bite of food, he answered, "Good, keep it that way. Another hour, and we can all head home."

Yoel chuckled a little as he turned to look at the rafters where Gyun was sitting, but since he was seated above the lights that were attached to the rafters, all that was visible were Gyun's legs as the rest of his body was cloaked in the shadows of the ceiling. Yoel gave a small wave,

Gyun continued eating his food as he watched, and after a half-hour, Embrace moved to the small elevated platform that was a makeshift stage built the day before. Fans would go onto the stage for a karaoke event and sing a song on the karaoke machine with an idol. The lyrics were projected onto a screen at the back of the stage; it was meant to be a fun little event for increased fan interaction.

It was exciting; though he had no official position, the seven Embrace members accepted it as natural since Yoel had vouched for him. Throughout the past few weeks, he had been cracking down and investigating any significant complaints within the company and purging the company clean of any impurities.

Though Gyun went under the name Mr.Sung, the employees and the other idols/trainees had given him the nickname 'the monitor' since he seemed to know everything about the employees when he met them, even if it was the first time.

And if he didn't, he always had a stack of crumpled papers he carried in his sweatshirt pocket to reference from. By the end of the first week, everyone in the company or affiliated with it had heard that he was someone sent by Riptide International to sort out the company's internal corruption and help bolster its internal affairs. At the same time, a team of marketing specialists worked double time to improve Sunnie Entertainment's image.

It was an uninteresting past few weeks; he had been unable to train much due to his injuries. The most he could do was schedule his GED for the end of the month and study different martial arts styles. He had gathered the theory for most striking martial arts and melded it along with the rest of his knowledge.

Gyun lifted another forkful of chicken to his mouth; when he paused, he noticed someone with an abnormal aura around them. They were wearing a baseball cap, and Gyun couldn't see their face from the rafters but could tell they were male.

"Romero, I have a suspicious male, black baseball cap and jacket, near the karaoke stage."

After a brief second, a voice responded from the earpiece, "What do you want done with them?"

"Just get a guard into the vicinity to keep an eye on them; I'm not sure about it yet."

"Understood; we'll keep an eye on him."

An hour later,

The van drove down the road; it's tinted windows concealed the passengers; a man sat in the driver's seat, and a single bead of sweat fell from his face.

-That was dangerous; for some reason, the guards started to watch me towards the end...do they know?.... It's impossible they can't; even if they do, they have no proof.-

Though he had managed to take pictures of her, his angel, Mizuki Inoue, she was so beautiful. His hands gripped the steering wheel as he sped up his van even more, his eyes glinting from the passing streetlights.

-We were meant for each other, but she doesn't even look at me anymore?!...No!... It has to be them; those other bitches are filling her head with lies!-

"Hey, glasses"

"what?!"

"Why'd security spot you and not us?"

A group of seven shadows in the back of the van were briefly illuminated from a passing streetlight.

One of the figures snickered, "Because he's a creep."

"Shut up"
