The knights outside continued to chat amongst themselves, unaware of the conversation taking place inside the commander's tent. Little did they know, their commander was speaking with Theo, the knight who had recently been demoted due to a failed mission to apprehend a dangerous individual named Levi.
"Theo, you know why you were demoted, right?" the commander asked, his tone serious.
Theo met the commander's gaze, his expression grim. "Of course, I know it," he replied with a hint of resignation in his voice.
The commander let out a laugh, a brief moment of levity in an otherwise heavy conversation. "Haha, of course, you know it," he said, the smile fading from his face. "You let him go. You know that the higher-ups want him because of his mana."
Theo sighed, knowing that the commander was right. He had let Levi slip through his grasp, and as a result, Levi had managed to evade capture. It was a costly mistake, one that had not only cost Theo his position.
