Nova Diamond:
Everything around me muffled as I sit there on the couch, attempting to process what my husband had just told me.
I want a divorce
I want a divorce
I want a divorce
It kept ringing in my ears over and over again. Like a broken record player that would never stop. Finally processing it, the tears started building up in my eyes, and finally, one drops and then another right after another. I don't understand. All I have ever done was love and support him. Even on the hardest of days when I didn't have to, I did anyway. How could he? I loved him. I gave up everything for him. My career. My family. My life. I was stupid to do so. Everyone told me not to do it, but I was blinded and I turned the other cheek.
Even after the way he has treated me. Like I was nothing but scum on the bottom of his shoe. As if I was trash. He wasn't always like this. He was kind and sweet, and treated me like a queen. I guess I just wasn't his queen anymore.
I finally look up at him and ask, "is this what you want?" Internally praying and hoping that people with cameras would pop out screaming that it was all a prank. However, none of that happened and I knew this was real. I watched as he clenched his jaw and nodded. Not looking at me, he stood up while throwing the papers at me and walked away.
I don't know what could've gone wrong. Today was never supposed to be this way. I was going to tell him that I was pregnant, but I guess I won't ever be able to. Picking the papers up and a pen, I signed my name on the highlighted line at the bottom of the page. A single tear dropped on the page, messing my signature up slightly as the pen smears a tiny bit.
Not even bothering to pack up my things, I write a note:
Dear Damien,
I'm not keeping any of my things. You may do what you wish with them. Don't contact me again and I won't bother you. This is goodbye and I hope you have a great life, just the way you wanted

I rushed out of the house and drove off, speeding out of the long driveway. Away from the house where my entire life took place. I had nowhere to go. He made me cut everyone off and even went as far as destroying my phone.
Not looking back, I placed a hand on my flat tummy and made a vow. "No matter what happens, I am going to love you like no other baby. I will do my everything to make you happy. I won't keep you from your father if you want to know him later in life. This is my oath to you. I love you. I'm just sorry your father couldn't be here with us."
It's just you and me now.
