Zou Guanting is struggling to understand why he was given such difficult work. He believes that this work will eventually cause his death, leaving him with no time to even spend with his beloved Angel.
As he walked towards the field carrying a basket, he sees Mo Hai standing by a wooden table covered with Nacrtoite and hand-carved trinkets. However, he noticed Liu Yifan standing beside her, holding a bundle of flowers.
Zou Guanting is unable to recognize some of the flowers in the bundle, but he felt that the bundle looks untidy. He spots a flower sticking out of her hair, and even though he found it difficult to admit, he felt that the flower looked good, complementing the woolen skirt and top that she wears.
Zou Guanting wondered when his Angel decided to change the way she dresses, and he felt the urge to slap Liu Yifan's hand that is reaching for Mo Hai's hair.
He then realized that they were trying to create a relationship between Liu Yifan and Mo Hai by overworking him and causing distractions.
He slammed his basket on the floor as he walked toward them. "Hai, You have such beautiful hair... It reminds me of the blooming poppies."
Mo Hai blushed and covered her face but inside she's dying of embarrassment as she was forced into a date with the prince of the village by the village head.
Her traditional upbringing meant revealing clothes revealing her legs, stomach, arms, chest are forbidden. The cold air added to her discomfort and she muttered a brief thank you.
Suddenly, Liu Yifan is pushed aside and fell into freshly made mud, ruining his clothes. Everyone gasped at the scene, leaving Liu Yifan cursing and Zou Guanting dragging Mo Hai away with him.
Liu Yifan's eyes met the golden irises of Zou Guanting, who had already turned away with Mo Hai dragging her along.
Liu Yifan had to grit his teeth and hold back a scream as he stood up, his eyes filled with hatred as he glared at Zou Guanting's back. He promised himself that someday he'll make this man pay, even if it meant killing him with his bare hands. Sometimes venting out frustration is necessary, right?
Mo Hai yelled, struggling to break free from her captor's grip as he tightly held onto her arm, ignoring her pleas. She realized they are heading towards the village gates from the same direction they came when first coming here.
People called out to them, asking Zou Guanting to release her, but he ignored their cries and kept dragging her outside.
Mo Hai's eyes welled up with tears as Zou's grip on her arm became more painful, and the skin on her feet is being scraped off against the rocky ground. In agony, she begged Zou Guanting to let go of her arm.
He finally lets go, giving her the most condescending expression anyone could ever imagine, "Why were you with him? Don't tell me you fell in love?"
Mo Hai denies the accusation "What?… I don't love him!" She questions Zou Guanting, "Why does it matter to you?"
He confesses, "Of course, it matters! I like you, and I have since the day I met you! I've given you every hint of affection that I could offer you! If anything, he doesn't love you, he's only trying to test a stupid prophecy!"
Mo Hai looks at him in disbelief, "What Prophecy?"
Zou Guanting's face contorts into a frown, his eyes narrowed into sharp slits, "You'll find out soon enough. Now come with me before they catch up with us!"
