Chapter 4 - Prologue: The Observer From Above

A couple hours ago, early in the morning.

"This girl has a good status."

Hecate gazed upon the digital window before her while smirking at the information within it. The sickly daughter of the village chief. She was someone who was fated to die despite being the next heir of the village.

It didn't take time for Hecate to understand the reason for the village's division despite being so small. Since the future heir would not be able to survive her sickness. The village chief would have to relinquish his position to others.

Greed for power and authority might have plunged members of the settlement to set their sights on the seat of the village chief. The chief must have also known about this. But it looks like the village wasn't his priority at the moment.

"Erste Janus, the sickly daughter of the village chief."

"Quite a beautiful lady in her 20th year. Her personality also blends well with mine. With her current situation, it might be a chance for me to gain my first follower."

Hecate squinted her eyes while her entire interest was on Erste. It wouldn't be that bad to have her as the first follower, with the help of her father's influence. It might make it easier for Hecate to conquer the Janus village.

"But, there is something bugging me."

"It's unexpected for me to see another status."

"Though, can I see my own status?"

Upon such a question, a new digital window rivaling the general operative information materialized slowly into existence. Hecate stood up after noticing the newly-emerged digital window expecting it to answer her question. And it did.

"So this is my status interface."

"Hmm, intriguing."

The edges of Hecate's lips rose as she began reading through her status of herself. The first tab was divinity, and it was 9 over 10. The one divinity lost must have been used to create her current body.

The second tab was her gender, which was the same as her former one. Though, her age was different since she was currently in her 0th year after reincarnation. The third tab was her race and species. They were Archon and Deus.

Archon was something she had already heard in the general operative information along with Deus. To explain what Archon was, it was part of a species known as Deus. With this in mind, one would expect many god-like races throughout the land.

There were also religion, authority, believers, faith, seraphs, and saint, which amount to nothing. They were entirely empty as Hecate had recently started her journey to godhood. Time will probably give meaning to the empty ones.

The next one would be the Attribute Tome. Her attribute was divided into four types. The divine mass, authority, sovereign's eyes, and primordial ego. They had no explanations within them, though their name already speaks for themselves.

The last was the Archonic Grimoire. The archonic grimoire only had the system arts and the authority arts. In the system arts, there were 4 abilities that she could use. In the authority arts, there was nothing, as she had no authority under her arsenal.

"This should be all of it regarding my status interface."

"I have a lot of questions, but that would be too boring."

"Why don't I try testing them out myself."

Hecate had a sly smile before noticing one of the dots within the village chief's house leaving. Her eyebrows rose as a result, and an aloof expression emerged on her face. She was entirely confident that the chief was trying to do something.

"The village chief seems to be planning something."

"Does he have an idea on how to save his daughter?"

If the sickly daughter of the village chief gets cured. Then the opened gate of the Janus village would become close. That would be a piece of bad news for Hecate. So what action does she need to take in this kind of situation?

Would she have to assassinate the village chief? Or cause mischief in the Janus village so that the gates would be open once again? Hecate had many thoughts, and it looks like she never noticed the malevolent ones.

"Well, time will tell."

"I'll just intervene when I have to."

Hecate decided to observe instead of immediately intervening. She has to be patient when capturing prey. Otherwise, impatience will result in failure. So with this in mind, she decided to watch everything from afar.

"He's gathering all of the hunters to form a hunting party."

"They appear to be heading to one of their hunting spots."

She watches the hunting party leave the village and enter the misty forest. After that, she loses them since the mist of the forest bothers her sovereign's eyes. This made her realize that she couldn't see everything, even on the board.

"Hehe, I guess I'm also not all-seeing."

Hecate snickered to herself as she was becoming less adequate for the expectations pointed at God. Oh well, there was nothing she could do about it. Besides, she could fake it till she makes it.

At any rate, hours have passed since then.

The so-called God was lying on the ground staring at the abyss above. She was incredibly bored since she had nothing to do other than to observe. But as if the world was giving her a favor, the hunting party came back.

"What the "

Even Hecate herself was somewhat surprised. A lot of the hunting party that had gone out of the village lost their lives. They had their bodies eaten by something. And they also seemed to be massacred, only leaving a few hunters alive.

Most bodies didn't even manage to return. Only the important ones were gotten out of the misty forest. The corpses were placed in the center of the village, and amongst them was the village chief.

"I can't believe he died."

Hecate furrowed her eyebrows in disappointment. If the chief dies along with the military power. The Janus village was obviously fated to collapse, becoming forgotten. Though, this wasn't the time to be depressed.

"A starting location is the starting point."

"I must salvage the situation."

The Janus village was the only settlement she could find in the starting location. It was a treasure chest that could throttle Hecate through the path of godhood. Obviously, she wasn't planning on giving up such a village.

In any case, the single dot on the village chief's house slowly got out of it. The sickly daughter saw all the corpses of the hunting party and slowly tread to its center. A couple of seconds later, she quietly stood in front of a corpse with a downcast expression.

The corpse was covered in silver silk, and the cold body came from none other than the village chief. The sickly daughter crouched and held the silver silk to see the corpse. What she saw afterward shook her at the very being.

Hecate continued the observation and decided to use one of her Deus system arts which was the command. She didn't know how it worked, but this was the best time to test it. So without a hint of hesitation, she activated the command.

――●――

[𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐭]

●[𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝: 𝐍𝐨𝐧𝐞]

――●――

A new small digital window materialized before her. It was the same as the create application, but it was called the command prompt instead. From how it was designed, Hecate would probably have to input her command for it to be fully operated.

"(Command! Bring the sickly daughter of the village chief, Erste Janus, here before me.)"

After giving the command, another even tinier digital window appeared in front of her. Hecate gazed at it with curiosity, wondering if the command she had given would go through.

―●―

[𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬...]

[𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐛𝐲!]

―●―

Hecate calmly waited as there was no need for her to be impatient. She stared at the digital window, waiting for a new one to appear. She expected her command to be accepted without that much of a problem. Sadly, she was wrong.

―●―

[𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐝!]

[𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝!]

―●―

The command she had given was declined for reasons about her divinity being insufficient. It was quite unbelievable, though, now that she had thought about it. She was stupid as hell. Hecate shook her head in disappointment, not at the system, but at herself.

"I'm stupid. This place is practically inside my new body. Why the hell would I bring outsiders here?"

"Anyhow, let's change the command."

With the results of the command failure, Hecate realized that bringing something physical from the world into the abyss was something that took a lot of divinity. She should be careful with the details of her command.

"(Command! Bring Erste Janus here in a projectional state, so that she could see me.)"

This was the second command she had given. Instead of bringing Erste Janus into the abyss, she simply wanted Erste Janus to be projected into the abyss. With this, the two of them could see each other, and the religion would finally start.

It didn't take time for the same to happen. Another new digital window appeared in front of Hecate. She looked at it with a widened expression, curious if it would fail like the one before it.

After a short while, no digital window emerged before Hecate. She raised an eyebrow and instead gazed at the sickly daughter of the village chief. Erste stood up, though Hecate noticed that her body was left behind.

"It seems that the command had already begun. It would have been better if there was a notification regarding the command's success."

"Otherwise, I would have been wondering for a long while before realizing it."

Hecate couldn't help but slightly chuckle before gazing at the sickly daughter once again. It would be hard for the two of them to meet in such circumstances. So Hecate decided to make it easier by deactivating a part of the board.

This resulted in every holographic image fading into digital ashes, except for the landscape of the misty forest. The sickly daughter appears to be very shocked, though this was to be expected.

Everything vanishing into ashes would be quite a terrifying scene for anyone to see. They would have been crying out their existence or frozen in existential dread. But it looks like the sickly daughter was a lot stronger than Hecate had expected.

"I need something to sit on."

Without any further delay, a throne was made for Hecate. It slowly materialized behind her and seemed to be a perfect fit for her. It was created out of nowhere, which made her wonder if it took some divinity out of her.

Anyhow, Hecate observed the abyssal throne with astonishment. She touched it with her pale fingers before sitting on it entirely. It was somewhat soft and relaxing despite looking like the throne of some demon god.

At any rate, with the entirety of the landscape being the only thing left. Only Hecate and the sickly daughter of the village chief existed in this abyss. Though, she seems to be somewhat deeply shocked while gazing at Hecate.

'What does she see?'

Hecate questioned with curiosity while gazing at the sickly daughter. As if answering her question, Hecate's perception change to the sickly daughter's. And what she saw was something she never expected to see.

Despite becoming a god, Hecate always thought of herself as a humanoid of some sort. She wasn't a horrific abomination that didn't belong to the world. Clearly, she was wrong since she wouldn't look like this if she was remotely a human.

"Wow, I look menacing."

She wasn't afraid of how her body looked, of course. She rarely cared about what she looked like to others. But still, this was something unprecedented. Hecate couldn't help but grin to herself after seeing her true form.

"I would have been shaking like a scaredy cat if I was the one that saw this body."

"Nonetheless, this makes everything better and easier."

The grin became wider and turned into a smirk. She always wondered how to make herself look presentable. After all, a God needs to be all-powerful and all-mighty. Hecate thought of acting before the sickly daughter.

Though, it looks like there was no need to do such a thing.

"This will be my debut as a Deus."

"The genesis that will be written in historical records."

This was the moment when the Archon of Malevolence was born.
