IT'S been one month since Maynard returned from Argentina. He needed to take care of his work and businesses in Argentina now that his work in the Philippines was finished.
"Are you all right, Sir Maynard?" Maynard's secretary inquired.
"Sorry, are you saying something?" he asked when he regained his composure; he had been stunned for a moment by the thought.
"Sir Maynard, it's been a month since you returned from the Philippines. You've worked immediately after you returned. Maybe you need to take a break. Don't worry, I can handle everything from here."
"All right," he said to his secretary. "Thank you, Dorothy; if anything happens, don't hesitate to call me," he said.
"Don't worry, sir; I'll take care of it."
So he left the office and went home.
When he finished investigating Mark San Andres, he returned to Argentina to take care of his own affairs.
But when he returned, his life changed dramatically. He didn't know why, but he could only think of one person as the source of his sadness.
When his cellphone abruptly rang as he was driving home. So he put on his bluetooth earphones and picked up the phone.
"Is there a problem, Sir Ronald?" he inquired from the other end of the line.
"Yes, we're returning to Argentina today, Joan and Mark and his agents are with me," said the person on the other end of the line.
"All right, sir, do you want me to do anything?" he asked again.
"Yes, I'll need some help when we arrive."
"All right, sir, I'll handle your arrival," Maynard replied.
"I appreciate it," he said.
They then came to an end of their conversation.
"Is Rui with them?" he wondered. He appeared to be happy as a result of that thought, and he hoped to see her again.
MAYNARD used his binoculars to look from a distance and saw that his boss and his companions had boarded the car. He looked around but couldn't find what his eyes were searching for.
"Why isn't she there?" He looked around again to see if the woman who had been bothering him for a few days was there, but she wasn't. "What happened, why didn't she come?" He quickly left where he was standing when he noticed the cars had left. He went straight to his office after arriving at the airport.
"How's everything here, Dorothy?" he inquired of his secretary.
"Everything is in order, Sir."
"All right, that's fine. If someone calls, tell them I'm not here. For some reason, I don't want to meet or talk to anyone right now. Can you do that for me, Dorothy?"
"No problem, Mr. Gutierrez," his secretary replied cheerfully.
"Thank you; you may now return to your work."
When the secretary left, he leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes for a moment. He is perplexed as to why Rui did not appear.
"Perhaps he's avoiding me," he said, looking sad once more.
He closed his eyes and remembered the days when he was still teasing her to get information about her boss. He just laughed when he remembered that, until his phone rang. He answered without looking up to see who was calling.
"Hello, who is this?"
The other line responds with "Hey, Arrogant!"
When he heard the voice on the other end of the line, his heart seemed to race.
"You shameless prick, you've never recognized my voice!"
"Ruianne! I'm surprised, what bad wind prompted you to call me?" he laughs still at this joke.
"Fuck you!" it yelled back angrily. Maynard simply laughed at Rui's response.
"I'm sorry, but the truth is I miss you," Maynard said. "Why were you called, is there a problem?" he inquired.
"You said you're a lawyer, right?" it inquired.
"Yeah, why did you ask?"
"I have something to consult, do you have time?" She asked.
"I can make time for you. Where are you? I'm going to see you," he cheerfully inquired. Because he will finally see the girl he has been thinking about for days.
"No need, I'm already outside your building; I just can't go in because I need to make an appointment first," the girl explained.
"Wait there, I'm going down," he said as he hung up the phone and exited the building. He was down a few moments later. He was about to leave the building when he noticed Rui leaning against his car.
"Hey, what are we going to talk about?" he inquired cheerfully.
"Come with me; let's talk somewhere other than here."
"Is what we're discussing important?"
"Yes!" he exclaimed, clutching her hand.
"Don't ask questions, just come along," Maynard said as he followed the girl he wanted and got into the car.
AT PLAZA DORREGO,
"You know this place?" Maynard ask Rui.
"When I was younger, we used to come here a lot. I like their coffee here," Rui answered as she walked into the cafe, and Maynard just followed her. They sat down and ordered.
"So, what's the important thing you're going to say, what you're saying you're going to consult, and it appears serious because you came to see me personally?" Maynard inquired.
"I have something to file a case against," she told him, which surprised Maynard.
"Who? " he inquired.
"There is such a man who just kisses me," Rui said, crossing his arms over his chest. Maynard's ears seemed to heat up with anger as a result of what he heard, so he immediately asked her.
"Who is this person?" he asked quickly, his face tense, "I will personally file a case against him. He has no right to kiss you! because—" he abruptly stopped because he couldn't continue what he was about to say.
"Because what? Mr. Gutierrez,"
"Because he doesn't have the right to kiss you because—" he paused abruptly, as if embarrassed to say it to her.
"Because?" Rui asked him again.
So Maynard took a deep breath to have the courage to say what he needed to say.
"Because only I can kiss you!" He admit it.
"Really?" Rui laughed at Maynard's words. "How come you have the right to kiss me? Tell me, when?" Rui mocked at him.
"When the first time I kiss you, I mark you as mine! so tell me, who is this stupid for having the courage to just kiss you, I will put him in jail myself!" Maynard said in raged.
"Do you really do that for me?" Rui asks.
"I'll do anything for you! Tell me who he is, because I'm already angry, and when I find out who he is, he won't go to jail, because I'll bury him alive!" Maynard raged.
But Rui laughed at his reaction.
"All right, I called him my shameless prick!" he said to Maynard with a smile. Then she noticed him stunned.
"Why, did I keep you silent?" Rui asks, her lips smirking. "Do you know that my life is not normal anymore, you are shameless prick! because of your kiss, my world is messed up, I can't sleep, I can't eat properly. I feel your lips are still attached to mine. every time I close my eyes, I imagine your face! I can't even work properly thinking about you," Rui explains. "But the truth is... I'm longing for you. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you. I miss you," Rui appeared to cry as she spoke. "If my brain were a computer, I'd delete you because I'm already struggling, because I really don't know what's going on, or what's the real score between us."
"Ruianne, I'm sorry if I messed up your life because of me, the truth is I like you, really, really like you. There isn't a day, hour, or minute that I don't think about you. If only I didn't have a job here in Argentina, I would stay in the Philippines so that I can always see you. These past few days I feel like I'm going crazy, thinking about you." Maynard didn't mind if passers-by looked at him.
"Rui, give me a chance to show you how much I like you, but I feel like it's more than that. I think I love you, Ruianne. I don't know when or how it happened, I just felt it!" He said, while holding its hand. "Rui, be my girl. I'd like you to be my girlfriend, please," he said, looking to its eyes.
"You don't have to beg, Maynard," Rui said, "because I like you too, and yes, I want to be your girlfriend." Maynard stood up from kneeling and made Rui stand up from the chair. Maynard appears to want to do something but is hesitant. So Rui approached him. "Come here, you shameless prick!" they exclaimed, and Maynard lifted the girl who was still holding her.
When he put the girl down, he kissed Rui's lips and smiled. They pressed their brows together because the young man was speechless due to his overwhelming joy.
"I was afraid you wouldn't agree," Maynard told the girl.
"I was afraid you wouldn't agree," Maynard told the girl.
"Why won't I agree? You have to take responsibility for what you did to kiss me," Rui said, pointing to the young man's lips.
"Yes, ma'am!" he exclaimed to the girl and they just laughed.
