"Subspace?" Kole furrowed his brows.
He has never heard of this. As such, the confusion on his face was evident.
Faneia nodded lightly, "Well, I can't tell you more than you should know. Subspace has the property of the maxim "Don't Hear". It can corrupt individuals who know more than they can resist."
"For now, I'll only let you know that Subspace exists, and overlaps with reality."
Kole was extremely curious, yet he suppressed his excitement. He was too tired to fight another mental battle, and Goddess knew how strong the "corruption" of Subspace could be.
With that, Faneia stepped forward, toward Kole—but in the next second, she vanished just as Kole did before.
"!!!" Suddenly, Kole felt a hand tapping on his shoulder.
His eyes widened in absolute disbelief. As he turned around, he saw Faneia standing behind him.
"And you have the power to move through… not just move, but utilize Subspace. My techniques, which I will be teaching you later are very suitable for people who have an affinity towards the Subspace."
Kole felt his worldview shatter.
Isn't it equal to "teleportation"?
As if understanding Kole's train of thought, Faneia shook her head, "You can do much more with Subspace. Teleportation is the lowest level technique one can think of…"
Lowest-level?... The more Kole listened to Faneia the wider his eyes became.
He felt like he had hit a jackpot. His expectations rose exponentially!
As Kole's confidence was increasing, Faneia poured cold water by saying, "Don't get too overconfident. Didn't I pull you back from the Subspace? If I can do that, others at my level can do that as well. Or they can simply stop you from accessing Subspace even if they can't."
"Not to mention, I haven't seen your strength. What good is it if you only know how to run?"
Kole smiled embarrassedly, "You are right, Mom. I will keep that in mind. So when can I start peeping?... Cough! Teleporting?"
In an instant, he thought of various ways he could use this power... though most, if not all were related to something obscene.
However, a strange light flashed in Kole's eyes.
Even though Kole tried hard to hide, Faneia snorted lightly as she realized Kole was hiding his abilities from her.
Apart from the feeling of 'escape' he also had the feeling to 'attack' but he didn't act on impulse.
Because he learned from his mistake by recklessly using his skills and acting on instinct.
What would have happened if Faneia wasn't here to pull him back from Subspace? What would he do, if he accidentally harms himself instead of attacking Faneia?... He needed to take a gentler approach, test, and learn.
Not to mention, he always felt Faneia was a little strange and he didn't wish to be caught off guard. Even if he knew the difference in power level was too great for an ant, like Kole to surpass; an ant would still try biting the elephant.
Although Kole has integrated himself into this world, and this family.
He firmly believed Caroline and Faneia were his family members—yet a minimum level of caution was still necessary before trusting them, entirely.
Perhaps making love can overcome the boundaries of trust… because that is when females are entirely defenseless and trust isn't one-sided. If they can put trust in me, so can I... Kole thought with a smile.
Did I jinx myself?... Kole shook his head to throw those thoughts out of his mind.
Am I really that untrustworthy? I am your mother... Faneia's pupils narrowed but she wasn't disappointed.
Despite thinking that, she understood where Kole was coming from. Sometimes, people wanted to have some secrets. It was a natural instinct.
Although she was curious, it would be too hypocritical of her to reveal her intentions.
She has never mentioned who their father was to Caroline and Kole. She never talked about her past. And she has never shown her true strength.
Whatever she revealed before was just a small part of what she truly was. As such, she didn't think she had any right to force him to reveal his secrets.
Though, I might think of a more subtle way to get my answers later… Faneia nodded internally.
She moved her gaze back to Kole, "You should be able to use Spirit Energy after your Ascendancy. Apart from a range of skills and special attributes that only some individuals have, Spirit Energy is the basis of all that is magical!
"You may have a special skill, but a person with more experience will be able to replicate something similar by creating a technique through the use of Spirit Energy.
"That is why I said, people at our level do not rely on skills and attributes. A better combination of techniques can turn the tables.
"From tomorrow onwards, your tort-... training will start." Faneia averted her gaze slightly for making a small error.
"…" Kole nodded with a dry look.
Soon, Faneia's expression turned solemn, "However, always remember the Maxim—Don't See, Don't Hear, Don't Speak. You must be feeling that you've escaped the danger of corruption.
"But it is something that will spring up again, and never leave once you've started to tread on this path.
"You should go back and rest, now." Faneia took an oil lamp from the corner of the stone chambers and started walking upstairs, "Dismiss."
Suddenly, Faneia stopped as her brows furrowed.
She muttered, "Your little friend is here…"
