Did I make a mistake? Wasn't he not breathing a moment ago?... A bewildered expression appeared on Caroline's as she saw Kole coughing and struggling to wake up.
Her emotions were in a mess and she didn't have time to think why or how he returned from the dead.
Maybe she misjudged the situation in her apprehension.
She didn't know, and neither did she care.
Him being alive and breathing made her eyes shine with a brilliant luster.
Caroline merely sat by Kole's side as he recovered and then gazed upon her, seemingly entering a trance.
Her heart beating faster for some reason.
What is that? His expressions? The mesmerized glow on his face? His deep dark orbs ostensibly glazed. It is all too noticeable!... Caroline gulped a mouthful of saliva; her breathing going a little haywire, however, she quickly calmed herself.
Some things must remain unsaid.
Suddenly Caroline felt her world spin when she heard him mumble, "You are damn hot!"
She froze.
Her breathing paused.
Every cell of her body seemed to fall into a reverie.
In her daze, she muttered subconsciously, to voice out her doubts, "Brother?"
Maybe she was looking for confirmation. Maybe Kole realized what he should've done long ago after encountering the Banes.
People generally don't appreciate what they've until they lose it. She wanted him to smile and nod…
But she saw him frown and then he clutched his head as if he was in deep pain.
She didn't know what was happening, her mind was filled with the words that escaped his lips before, her heart pounding vigorously in her chest.
He must have not realized it was me after he woke from that traumatic experience of Banes…Thank Goddess, he is still alive! I couldn't hope for more… A sigh of relief filled with hidden disappointment escaped her cherry-like lips.
…
Kole clutched his head as a searing pain enveloped his brain.
It was as if his brain was thrown into a fiery pit of lava to melt slowly.
He has never felt this much pain before.
Not to mention he has not felt any pain in years. Yes, his back hurt due to old age, but it wasn't on the level of bones being broken.
This pain was something else entirely.
It was an unknown realm of pain that he has never ventured into before, or maybe it wasn't physically possible for a human to explore it.
Soon, he felt a cool sensation.
A string of memories entered his mind.
Kole… Kole Akerse… Treon Kingdom… Stormwatch…
Along with various information, Kole also felt himself developing feelings for all the people—whom he had never met before, but the previous owner of his body did.
Inheriting someone else's memories, had a huge impact on his psyche.
Kole did his best to cope with the pain, but midway through he gave up and simply fell unconscious.
He couldn't open his eyes and the sensation of his body went numb under the gurgling lava of pain in his mind.
However, he wasn't idle.
His mind was constantly churning with thoughts!
Have I been transmigrated? Does the so-called transmigration actually exist? It's real? If not, then what am I witnessing currently?... Despite feeling anxious and worried, a part of him was excited as he began analyzing the memories of his previous self.
There was indeed magic! That made him ecstatic beyond belief.
Not to mention, the current body of his was merely that of a 17-year-old. He was back to his youth!
What surprised him was his status, as the heir of Duchess Akerse!
This confused him a little when he thought about how the previous owner of this body died.
Why would such an important figure roam on streets and encounter those terrifying creatures called Banes? Shouldn't he be relaxing in a manor or something?... When Kole looked further into the string of memories, he could only chuckle.
Apparently, the previous Kole has built an interest in mysticism.
When he didn't get permission from his mother, he ventured out into the wild on his own.
For a moment, Kole fell into perplexity.
Why would his mother let him leave?
Kole could only shake those thoughts when suddenly, he felt he was already seeing the Duchess as his mother! He panicked! It hasn't been a moment before the memories merged with his, he has already started seeing things through the eyes of the previous Kole!
It took him a long while to sort out these feelings and set them aside to inspect them. Under no circumstance, Kole wanted to become someone else.
What was the point of transmigration if you become another person and live a life that they desired? Wouldn't you be living someone else's life then?
Kole retrospected himself.
The moments before his death by old age swirled in the seas of memories.
Reaffirming his desires, wants, needs, aspirations, and avarice.
He appeared in a huge blurry palace with his new appearance.
The canvas of his life—sketched in front of him, as he separated the colors of previous Kole into another canvas, that would be used as a data drive to extract memories.
He didn't know what he was doing subconsciously was a very high-level mental domain spell used by Ascendants—Mostly used to suppress any corruption and sinful thoughts.
Because of this, mental domain Ascendants like Lewis have withdrawn personalities.
They constantly reshape themselves to become the perfect being.
However, this was not the case for Kole.
He was not separating himself, but a part of someone else that got entangled with him.
As such, it was a very smooth process with no harmful side effects—or so he thought.
Slowly, Kole felt even his mind becoming tired as he operated on himself in the blurry palace. He didn't want to be influenced by another personality, therefore, he forced himself to complete the two canvases.
When the memories of the past Kole completely separated, Kole placed the new canvas in the shadows of the original one.
With a tired sigh, the world around Kole darkened as his mind fell into a swarm of oblivion.
…
Kole fluttered his eyes open. His blurry vision fell upon an extremely beautiful mature woman.
In his foggy state of mind, he subconsciously blurted, "Mother…"
