Chapter 10 - X

"Since when did you even come back here!? I missed you so much." Allan frowned. "Why didn't you tell us about this sooner?"

"Well, it's because... I forgot." I scratched the back of my head.

'You kind of suck at lying.'  Karli thought to herself.

"Has anyone told you that you suck at lying?" Lyf giggled.

"If you weren't a girl, I would've smacked your head by now." I threatened her.

"You just came back. Don't be mean to everyone!" Karli pulled my ear and somehow began strangling me.

"Hey, get off me! I'm not paying for your stuff anymore if you don't stop!" I tried pushing her away but somehow miserably failed, but in the end, she did let go of me.

"WAIT, I'M SORRY, PLEASE FORGIVE ME!"

"Yeah, no."

"Ethan, I'm being serious right now!" Allan yelled at me as if he was mad.

"Allan? Being serious? Best joke I've ever heard." Lyf chuckled.

"Shut it, Lyf. Can't you see that he pretty much never told us anything? He never even told us the reason why he had to leave. And right now, he didn't even say he was coming back or reason why he left!" Allan clenched his fist as he looked me in the eyes furiously.

"Allan, I-."

Before I could say anything, he interrupted me and said...

"I'm done with your excuses. If we truly are friends, why won't you trust me? Or us!?" Allan walked away from me without even looking back to see how I reacted.

"He's probably having a hard time lately, Ethan. Let's give him some space for now." Lyf put her hand on her on my shoulder to try and comfort me.

"Maybe you're right." I gave her a warm smile.

As the three of us walked inside the entrance, a deafening yell was heard by us, and to my surprise, it was Hailey.

"Hi, Karli!" said Hailey as she wrapped her arms around Karli's waist.

"Oh, hey, uhm h-hi!" Karli blushed as she struggled to talk while Hailey was hugging her.

'Oh god, is my cousin gay?' I asked myself.

"Shouldn't we be inside right now? Come on, let's go to our classes. Let's meet each other again at the rooftop."

And so, everyone parted ways and went to their classes, hoping the day would be over.

Karli's POV

Hailey and I had the same class, so we happily listened to our professor even if we didn't understand a single word he said. Surprisingly, everything seemed to go well today. Well, aside from what happened earlier morning.

Our class ended early since our professor had "urgent" matters to attend to. So our class ended 2 hours earlier than it was supposed to. Hailey and I then went to the rooftop to wait for the other's class to finish and began chatting about some things.

It's been a long time ever since we had these long and funny talks since the two of us were always too busy. I missed her soft and beautiful voice.

'Should I tell her how I truly feel?' I asked myself.

"Hailey, I.. I want to tell you something." I hesitated.

"What is it?" she tilted her head.

"I.. I lik-!" fortunately, before I could finish talking, a certain someone interrupted me.

"Hey there! What are you two talking about?" Erich appeared out of nowhere with Lyf next to her side, waving at us.

'Thank goodness you guys arrived!' I thought to myself. I could've had been done for if they didn't.

"Oh, it's nothing, don't worry. What were you saying again, Karli?" Hailey asked.

"Never mind, it was nothing. Anyway, where are the guys?" I asked, trying to change the subject.

"I'm not sure. I haven't seen them since earlier morning. But I'm pretty sure that their class ended a few minutes ago." said Lyf.

"They're probably just late. Maybe they'll arrive soon." said Hailey.

"Maybe Ethan will but I'm not sure about Allan." I responded.

3rd person POV

"Why don't you go there and talk to them, Allan?" Ethan smirked.

"Since when did you even come up here?" Allan grinned. "Also, the reason why I'm not going there is to avoid you but.. it seems like you're following me like a dog."

"Seems like you don't want to see me." Ethan sighed, looking disappointed.

"I'm leaving, don't follow me, or else." Allan threatened him as he walked past him to leave.

"I'll tell you everything."

Allan's eyes widened as he stopped walking and turned his back and began to listen to every single word Ethan said.

Karli's POV

In the end, the two of them didn't arrive at all. I started to get worried since neither of them was replying to our messages.

Where could they have possibly been?

"I'm started to get worried. Ethan wouldn't leave without telling me." I panicked.

"Maybe they got scolded by their teacher!" said Erich who was trying to not make me worried even though that doesn't make it any better.

"I got a text from Allan!" Lyf said enthusiastically.

"What did he say?" I asked.

"He said that the two of them are together right now. Oh and, they're good now. I don't know how but, yeah." Lyf raised her shoulders.

"Did he say where they went?"

"They went to buy something. Don't ask me what it is 'cause I don't know either." she shrugged. "Anyway, I need to go now, bye." Lyf waved at us goodbye.

"I kind of need to go too." Erich awkwardly left the scene.

"I guess it's just the two of us now. What do you want to do?" Hailey asked me as she looked me in the eyes.

"Well if you want, maybe we can go out together. I saw a coffee shop nearby on my way here so maybe we can study for a bit there too while chatting with each other!" I suggested.

"Sounds fun, let's go!" and so, Hailey grabbed my hand and we began to walk towards the coffee shop.

With Ethan and Allan

"Pfft- I can't believe you forgave me so quickly by taking you to a coffee shop with kittens." Ethan laughed.

"S-shut your mouth idiot! It's embarrassing if people will hear you." Allan's face turned red.

"Hey, look at those two guys over there. Why would guys even go to a place like this." said stranger 1.

"Oh my gosh maybe they're dating!" said stranger 2 who was next to stranger 1.

"I wanna punch those girls over there." Ethan whispered to Allan with his eyes twitching.

"Let them be." said Allan who seemed to be strangely comfortable with it.

"Don't tell me you're actually gay."

"I'm not!"

As the two were arguing, Ethan noticed two familiar short women entering the cafè.

"Allan, look behind you."

"Why?" Allan turned his back to see Hailey and Karli walking inside. "Why the hell are those two here!?" he shrieked

"Huh? What was that sound? I swear I heard Allan's voice." said Karli, looking confused.

"Maybe you're just imagining things. Such a guy like him wouldn't come here." said Hailey who was beside her, holding her hand.

'Now that I think about it, Allan's actually the type of person to like cute stuff but he's probably with Ethan right now.' Karli thought to herself.  'To be honest, you're right. I'm probably just imagining things." I replied to her.

"Pfft- oF cOuRsE aLlAn wOuLd'nT bE thE tYpE oF pErsOn to gO hErE." said Ethan who was trying to mock Allan.

'Okay never mind, that was definitely Ethan. Why would those two be here anyway?' Karli wondered.

"Lower your voice! You do know that Karli has great hearing, right?" Allan whispered.

"What do you want to order?" Karli asked Hailey.

"Hmm.. I think I'll have this." she pointed at her order.

"Alright then." Karli smiled at her brightly.

"Hey Allan, does Karli have a crush on her?" Ethan asked.

"Well, yeah. I thought she already told you. And even if she didn't, it was kind of obvious." Allan responded.

"To be honest, it kind of was obvious."

Suddenly, the two of them noticed Karli and Hailey walking towards them.

"Quick, act normal!"

"We need something to cover ourselves, idiot." said Ethan.

"Give me your jacket. Wear this wig I found on the ground." Allan handed him the long wig. "Your face is built like a woman anyway, they wouldn't notice."

"Are you sure there aren't lice in here?" said Ethan, looking disgusted.

"JUST WEAR IT." he whispered at him.

The two of them panicked as the girls started to get near them, hoping they wouldn't notice.

'Please don't notice us. If they did, my life would be over!' the both of them thought.

Fortunately, the girls didn't notice them and sat at the table that was next to them.

'Phew.' the guys thought.

"So how have you been lately?" Hailey asked Karli with a warm and innocent smile.

"Not this female dog trying to act innocent!" Allan murmured.

(PS: to those uncultured people here, she isn't a dog. just search it up)

"Shhh, lower your voice dumbass." Ethan mouthed.

"Well, I've been feeling pretty good lately. However, I felt even better after I saw you again." Karli winked.

"I want to laugh so bad right now." Allan snorted while holding his mouth, trying to hold back his laughter.

"Hold it back for now." said Ethan who was also trying to hold back his laughter with his mouth covered.

"Awww, really? That's so sweet." Hailey chuckled.

As the two of them finished studying and drinking their coffee and snacks, Hailey then left the cafè but Karli didn't.

"Why the hell isn't she leaving?" Allan mouthed. "I'm starting to think she noticed us."

"Probably because I did." said Karli who suddenly appeared next to Allan.

"Eek- what are you even doing here!?" Allan screeched.

"To be honest, I think I should be the one asking you that."

"He told me that if I took him to a cafè with cats, he would forgive me." Ethan spoke swiftly that Karli could barely understand him.

"Well, that explains it." said Karli. "Also, don't run off without telling us ever again, okay? All of us were worried about you guys!"

"Sorry." the two of them said without any sign of emotion at all.

Karli sighed and left the cafè without saying goodbye.

"Didn't even wait for me." Ethan frowned.

"I guess we should probably head off now." said Allan.

"Goodbye then. Oh and, I'm sorry for not trusting you."

"I should be the one saying sorry, not you." Allan scratched the back of his head.

"Let's forget all of this instead. No matter what, we'll always be friends."

And so, before Ethan walked away, he waved at Allan goodbye and smiled at him.

'Just friends, huh?'
