Chapter 137 - Mutual Friends

Alice couldn't hold the snicker that came out of her lips when he wrote glasses. Once again, something unexpected from Noah. Noah didn't seem to be a person who had a certain type of looks considering he didn't even have a preference in taste, so the image that conjured in Alice's mind didn't fit no matter how she tried.

Noah tilted his head up at her with her still standing over him and his sitting cross-legged with a hint of a smile, already knowing that she was behind him and getting all the entertainment that she needed to be able to go home for the day satisfied with life. Even that was a stretch, but if it were true, she would give it to him.

"Glasses? That was all you could come up with?" Alice laughed.

"I wrote more..."

"At least, you're keeping it generic."

Noah lifted a shoulder. "I bet that fifty percent of the guys wrote the same thing."

She huffed out a teasing breath. "You are all unoriginal."

"Oh yeah. That totally scares me."

"I didn't know that you were into girls with glasses.

"I don't need them to be in glasses," Noah said. "But I'll let you wear mine."

Alice smiled, almost about to trip on her words. "I'm good, thanks. You look better in them anyways."

Noah shook his head as Alice sat down next to him. "What you wrote is fine. It's good for it to be simple since then people would be able to match easier."

"What do you need?"

Noah didn't waste time to get straight to the point. She hummed. "I kind of need your help."

"You don't sound so sure," Noah said as he looked back to his paper.

She tugged on the sleeve of his hoodie lightly to get his attention back. "Ah, I need to buy some materials. Come with me."

Noah's eyes shifted from her over to the entire gym floor. "Let's go then."

Alice brightened. "Yes. Let's hurry. I would rather not have Madeline wait for us."

Mason slid over to them, overhearing their conversation. "You guys are dipping? Let us go too."

Alice gave him a smile. "You can go ask Madeline for a job."

"On a scale from one to ten, how likely do you think she'll let us go?"

"Maybe a seven," Alice laughed.

"What? No way," Jordan came in.

"I'm not quite too sure. Last time I heard, she had a lot on her list that's even on mine," Alice said.

"I'm taking the bait," Jordan finally said.

She laughed and waved all of them off. "Go. She'll do something with all of you guys."

To be honest, Alice couldn't guarantee that the guys would get off the hook, but she hoped that Madeline caught her drift since Alice waved slightly at Madeline to catch her attention earlier to let her know that she planned on leaving.

The boys could definitely be doing something productive for the team even away from the float. She could attest for that since they were being on their best behavior today.

Alice watched as Noah put the finished slips of paper into the wooden box that needed to be painted some sort of color under some task on the little board that was in the homeroom, updated with tasks.

It was a cute board with frills and bows. Alice was somewhat concerned and amazed at how Madeline was able to convince Mr. Baird to hang it in the classroom.

She couldn't even picture the scene which made it all the scarier. Then again, Madeline was fighting a battle that she was likely going to win because that girl was something different.

Madeline would have found a way even if Mr. Baird said no with some sort of permission of course. She was class president for a reason after all.
