"Do. You. Really. Think. You. Can. Win. Against. Us. Alone?", the five guys who that suspicious coyote boy called 'boys' spoke one after another, bizarrely.
I couldn't help but smile at the irony, however.
"And who said I'm alone?", I said, and conjured my spell.
With a burst of wood waste, a man-sized wooden doll with a feminine figure and perfectly pointy perforating sticks for hands stood in between the five leather-wearing freaks and I.
"An. Invoker? Rare."
"Yes, and this rare invoker will wipe the floor with your ugly faces!", I said, controlling the wooden construct, and making it strike against the five with a wide swing from both arms.
The boys jumped back at the same time, and their hoods fell back, revealing horribly deformed their looks.
"DO! NOT! CALL! US! UGLY!", they screamed one after another, and jumped back towards me, each pulling a differently colored pointy stone knife.
"I do feel a bit guilty…", I said, controlling my wooden construct, and making so that all the knives dug themselves into the spell's body. "But don't go expecting me to go easy on you because of that!", I then punched one of the boys straight on his jaw.
I wouldn't be part of the Bear Mountain Volunteer Security if I couldn't handle a group of ruffians, after all.
"Raagh! Agh! Agh! Agh! Agh!", The enemies pulled yet another five knives and stabbed, swung, stroked, and charged against me, but with excellent control of my invocation and equally good control of my body, I avoided every single hit.
They weren't necessarily individually strong, but it was clear they had built their style thinking about team work, each strike was a complement to the next attack, and when they blocked, they formed an impassable wall.
And when one of them finally messed up and gave me opportunity to knock him out… it was a feint precisely elaborated by the whole five.
"Guarh…?!", I saw myself stabbed by three knives, as one of the five boys protected the who feigned vulnerability. "Doll!", I called, and my wooden spell scared the five disfigured enemies away, but I was left bleeding from my arms and legs nevertheless.
I had started that battle in disadvantage already, and then I was wounded and wouldn't be able to move like before… Things weren't looking good.
But I tightened my hands into fists, gritted my teeth and straightened my back. I had promised I would never let Mari cry for losing her subordinates again!
I got it then, if I was to defeat those five, I needed to find a way to do so at once, bringing them down one by one would not be an option. So, I looked around, looking for any clue to win that fight in; there were the bone stairs to inside the skull of the Bear Mountain, the corridor where I was fighting with the boys, and then the benches where we hid from the invaders just a few moments ago.
There wasn't much time to think, however, as the boys quickly got back to the offensive and came slashing and stabbing towards me again.
"Dammit!", I ran towards the benches, using the doll to protect myself from the myriad of attacks, feeling my magical energy quickly depleting already. "Huraagh..!" I grabbed the bench, raised it over my head, and hurled it at the five enemies pursuing me.
Only to see them easily dodging the heavy projectile.
Panting already, and made my doll turn around, run toward it, and used its spike hands to hurl myself over the wall of five enemies right to the base of the stairs.
I looked back, and saw the five men pursuing me.
"Shit!", I climbed up the stairs, already feeling my bleeding muscles failing me. The five boys were almost getting to me, when I got to the door to the treasury. And found it locked.
"It. Is. Over. For. You", the five men said creepily as they raised their daggers on my back.
"No, it is over for you", I replied. And only then, they turned around to see my doll holding the bench above its head right behind them.
"CRASH!", my doll dropped the whole thing on top of the five man, the wood splitting in a thousand fragments, and knocking down the five invaders at the same time.
I laid against the locked door, and let myself slid to the ground right as my magic energy ended, and my doll vanished in wooden magic waste, and my bleeding muscles took the better of me, letting me barely able to move.
"Hu…!", I exhaled, my heart still beating fast, sweat still dripping from my nose. "I'm done here. The rest is with you, captain…!", I said, and fell asleep right then and there.
