Chapter 2 - Where Am I?

All I can see is darkness. All I can feel is pain. "Where am I? Who am I?".wait, I remember now, my name is Kevin, I'm 5'9 "with short dark black hair, I'm 19 years old and fresh out of high school. I never felt the need to work out, so I was quite skinny. My memory was quite foggy, but last I remember, I was having a fight with my brother on an old bridge near our house. I can't even remember the argument? All I knew was that it ended with me being thrown off a bridge. Now I'm here in what seems like a void floating threw nothingness. "Did I die?"

Then a new feeling hit ,cold I'm cold. My whole body feels as if it's encased in ice, and I begin to shiver. I feel gravel beneath me. It's digging into my hands and face. I feel water rushing past my legs. It's cold. I

hear the wind, as it blows through leaves still yet to be seen. Finally, I open my eyes. "Where am I?" This question is all I could muster before convulsing in pain. "Ahh! It hurts!" I could only wisper my agonies to myself as I felt my body worn and torn. I looked around using just my eyes to observe my surroundings, "yep in in a forest." It seemed such a trivial matter, but I couldn't make sense of it. I don't know how I could get to a forest from a city, but that's not the point. The point is that, "HE TRIED TO KILL ME?" I shouted in a rage, which I soon regretted due to the imediat agony I felt all over my body cause me to shake and shudder.

after a few minutes of painful shuddering, I felt I sat here long enough, I began to crawl forward, while slow, I felt it necessary to get out of the cold water, I couldn't feel my legs by now. It took all I have, but I finally collapsed on the bank, all my energy depleted in the struggle. Now that i look at myself, I wasn't in as bad a condition as I could've been, just a bunch of scrapes and a few bruises, most of them from the fight. My leg hurt, though, must have hurt it when I fell into the river.

Slowly, I pulled myself to a tree so I could get off the ground. Eventually, I found myself sitting against it. "Why is it so hard to do anything right now?" I couldn't understand how I could barely move, although it has been getting easier each time I attempt it. Now, in a more comfortable position, I looked around. From where I came from, a large stream rushed blocking off that way. Honestly, I'm surprised I survived my trip down it. In the other direction seems to be endless

trees, each one as wide as a car, and tall as a red wood. "How long was I in that river? There wasn't even a forest near where I lived much less a red wood forest?" Now I was concerned on top of being confused.

Content with my observations, I attempted to stand up. That was a bad idea as I quickly lost balance and landed hard. I groaned in contempt for my own weakness, and for the fact, I was back to where I started. After a second, I started crawling to the tree again. This time, it was quicker, weirdly so, but who am I to question it. Now back resting against the tree this time, I made sure to give myself a good rest, I feel it was around ten minutes before my next attempt took place.

Much like the crawling, this went much smoother. Although I still struggled to stand, I could do it…with support from the tree, but I was standing. With nothing else to do, I began walking up the river, trying to hop from tree to tree. "Well, home should be this way, I just need to keep going. I guess. " With that being the only resonable thing I could do, it's what I did. I kept walking, no idea for how long, but it felt like hours. For some reason, instead of tired, I actually felt energized after a few minutes, I was even able to start walking normally. While I couldn't understand it, o didn't question it yet again, "Who cares as long as I'm im not hopping from tree to tree like a child?"

I was especially happy about my regained ability when I heard a growl behind me. I could feel every muscle in my body tense, and my mind began to freeze. Quickly, I turned to see a single wolf, It was deep silver in color with piercing red eyes and razor-sharp teeth. It was only up to my waist, which was off-putting, but what caught my eye was the jagged horn on top of its head.

The wolf eyed me up and down as it slowly advanced. There was only one thought in my mind. "RUN," and so I did, I ran as fast and hard as my weak legs could carry me. The wolf was never a step behind me, even nipping at my heels from time to time. Wait, this wolf was playing with me, it could kill me at any time if it so chose. And all I could do was run. It's pathetic. Pathetic as it might be, I kept on running, I ran till I couldn't even breathe anymore, and then finally I collapsed. Instinctually curling into a ball as I began to lose consciousness once more, but instead of hearing the wolf's growl before my death, I heard it's yelp
