Besides, it will help me to figure out exactly what sort of person she used to be. What made her change into the woman that I see today?
A few moments pass as I ponder these matters while Kather remains silent. Eventually, I realize that Kather has stopped moving forward and is looking straight ahead at nothing in particular.
I notice that she isn't paying attention to me and that she's avoiding eye contact with me. Her eyes look distant as if she is thinking about something very serious.
Something tells me that Kather wants to avoid the subject altogether. But probably because she feels rather uncomfortable talking about it. Or maybe she thinks that I might get upset the more I listen to it.
Whatever the case may be, I won't let such a good opportunity slip off my fingers. The perfect timing is now before the wedding ceremony happens as it's important to learn about our spouse's past… although she doesn't want to tell me as it seems like it.
But In fact… perhaps this is the best time to do so. In order to ensure a peaceful marriage and future together with Kather. No doubt, it will benefit us both.
That being said, I cannot deny that it does bother me slightly. Why did Kather never mention anything about this matter during our many conversations? Wasn't it supposed to come up eventually? Maybe she didn't want to bring up the past… or maybe she forgot to mention this to me?
At times, I wonder if Kather knows that I've noticed this problem. Does she suspect me? Is she worried about what I'll do? Perhaps she regrets hiding this information from me?
Maybe she wishes that she hadn't done that… but that's impossible. There must be a reason behind her actions. Surely there is something she doesn't want me to know. Otherwise, she'd have brought this up already… unless…
Unless she didn't want me to remember her past because it involves another man? Could it be possible that she dated someone else but doesn't want to tell me? Because it's freaking 10 years after all.
My mind is filled with doubts and worries.
I also start wondering if I should continue asking Kather about these things or wait another time to ask about it. And just focus on meeting Ellyn first. Once I do meet her, I should discover everything. Everything that I need to know. Because I am sure Ellyn knows something about Kather as they seem to be close to each other still in those 10 years.
Of course, I know that I should trust Kather and believe in her, but deep inside, I am afraid of the unknown.
Afraid that Kather might have lied to me. Fearful that I may end up hating her someday… if I knew the truth. So it might be better to know what really happens in these 10 years as I doubt she's just training the whole 10 years. Surely there's more to that.
Just then, I hear footsteps approaching from behind us and I turn around to see that same man from before standing beside us. His face is blankly staring at the ground as he approaches us.
Once he sees me noticing him, he turns his head toward me and asks, "Are you one of Kather's friends?"
Without answering, I walk past the man and approach Kather. Now she notices him too and glances briefly at the man before turning around and trying to walk away from Gabriel.
Still following behind her, the man calls out to her once again. "Hey! Wait a minute! Don't go anywhere." He says as he walks alongside Kather.
With great reluctance, Kather stops walking and faces the man. With a cold expression, she replies, "What do you want?"
"You're right," he answers. "I don't want anything. Only to speak with you. Nothing more than that."
Kather stares at Gabriel for several seconds. As if considering his request. However, she shakes her head and states, "No, thank you."
Now Gabriel looks frustrated, yet determined. Without saying anything, he steps closer to Kather and places a hand on her shoulder. When he does so, she becomes startled and freezes up.
Yet Gabriel doesn't release his grip. Instead, he holds onto Kather tightly enough so that she couldn't possibly move even if she tries.
Seeing that, I couldn't help myself but interfere as I am Kather's boyfriend after all. I step next to them to prevent Gabriel from hurting her. For some odd reason, he continues to hold onto her shoulders without letting go.
As soon as I stand next to him, he releases his grasp and turns around. Looking directly at me.
His gaze is intense and intimidating. Even though I am taller than him by half a foot, I felt intimidated nonetheless. Not to mention the fact that his eyes were burning red-hot. It almost seemed like he was glaring at me.
When I stare back at him, he suddenly lets out a sigh. He takes a deep breath and exhales slowly.
"You shouldn't interfere in this matter! This is about me and Kather… you're nobody so don't pry in this stuff of ours!" Gabriel said that towards me.
That's when I realize that the man was somehow aware of me. Apparently, he saw me talking to Kather earlier and recognized me. Or perhaps he knows me from somewhere. After all, I have been with Kather all day long today. But I can't keep myself shut up after hearing what he just say to me.
"Excuse me!" I said in irritation. "I'm sorry, but what did you just say? I shouldn't interfere and shouldn't pry into your this... I am Kather's future husband after all! So what makes you think that I shouldn't interfere? If there's something going on between you two, then you should tell me about it! Especially if it involves Kather!"
The moment I said that Gabriel looks at me in confusion. After a few moments of silence, he replies, "Oh, I see."
Then he starts to laugh. At first, it sounded normal. But then it grew louder and more sinister until he was laughing uncontrollably. I can even see the veins popping out of his head as he laughs hysterically.
