Chapter 9 - Telling My Parents

As the both of us held hands while walking down the meadow which the both of us used to play together at.

My mind was thinking about something…

I still can't believe that I am dating Kather right now… All of this happened so suddenly that it almost felt like a dream.

How do I tell my parents about this stuff? I just hope that thing could go as Jack does as he notices the relationship between me and Kather. Because somehow I am afraid my parents don't like Kather at all.

As we both had some status differences after all.

But still, I need to deliver this news to them, since I am leaving for the front lines in just a few days. Because I somehow successfully entered a unit already.

I suppose I should be asking Kather's opinion on this since this is a matter regarding both of us.

"Um, Kather? Do you think I should tell my parents about us… Because you do know-" I couldn't even finish my sentence as Kather cut me off completely.

"We should! They are your parents after all… it's necessary for them to know about us." Kather paused for a bit, "How about tonight! The sooner the better you know!"

"Tonight?!" I paused, "Aren't you going to be busy, you are the captain of the heavy infantry unit after all." I said that to Kather.

"I am not going to lie that I am not overloaded with work, as indeed I am… But I'm sure it could be delayed, this is a special day for me and I couldn't let work stuff ruin it." Kather said that as she smiled at me.

"If that's what you want, then how about tonight's dinner? I would pop the news to them, I just hope that my parents will be okay with me being with you." I said.

"Why? I am sure everything would be fine… your parents know me as I used to come over to your house every day when we were children." Kather said that she doesn't seem to be worried at all about this matter.

It's because of that issue that I am worried. The status between us… Am I worthy to be with you? Even my parents would question that Kather could deserve someone a lot better than me. Yet she chooses to fall in love with me.

I can't say that to her even if that is the reason why I am worried right now. Saying that would just ruin her mood surely.

Even if I am not worthy now… I still have the time to prove and become someone who's worthy. As long as I keep trying my hardest but even if I fail, I wouldn't need to worry since Kather would always love me for who I am. The same could be said about me loving her, no matter what happens… I will always love her.

As our love isn't superficial.

"Yeah, I guess I am overthinking about stuff. I shouldn't be worrying about that." I said that trying to act like I am over it already.

"Yep, you always overthink about stuff… It will be fine." Kather said.

..

.

I told my parents earlier that Kather is going to be here for dinner. So that my mom could cook something extra and special…

They were quite shocked at the news and quickly got on to the preparations. They didn't bother to ask me about how Kather is able to be here in this village. Because they know asking about it would just delay the preparations since it's nearing nighttime already.

So they were in a rush to prepare everything that needed to be done. I told them not to overdid stuff but they simply replied that it was necessary since Kather might not like simple stuff like us.

Well that's understandable since my parents are aware that Kather isn't like us. Even if she lives in this village once, her house isn't like a farmer's house at all. It's way better than us and she even had a maid back then that her father hired.

Plus it's always like this when I was still a child back then.

.

When it's nighttime already…

There was a knock on the door as I opened it up knowing that it was probably Kather. My parents told me to open the door while they are finishing up the food.

The moment I opened the door, I then saw Kather without her captain armor.

With the most adorable smile on her face and also her cute dress. I couldn't help but smile back when I noticed how cute she was in all of that. But her face quickly changed into a frown which surprised me.

"What's wrong?" I ask her with concern. I don't really know why but it is obvious then something isn't right here.

"Why didn't you pick me up?" She pouts slightly and puts on a fake pout, as if she was really upset about not being picked up by me.

I rolled my eyes and laughed softly, "I'm sorry that I've been busy making sure the dinner is okay. I promise that next time I will remember to do so." I said that as she simply smiled widely and nodded.

Kather then leaned in towards me and gave me a soft kiss on the lips which made my heart beat fast. When she pulled away from me she grinned cheekily, before taking my hand and told me to take her towards the dining room. Where my family gathered there right now.

When my parents saw Kather, they immediately stood up from their seats and my mother hugged her tightly.

"I haven't seen you for a long time and you sure have grown to be a beautiful lady." My mother commented and my father laughed lightly as he also said the same stuff.

As my parents began their conversation about old times, I took this moment to sneak off to check on the food that was in the kitchen. To see whether it was okay for me to serve it or not.
