"Experiment failed. Soul Serum is incompatible with the test subjects and mutated them."
'Experiment? Soul serum? Test subject? What the hell is going on? I'm 100% sure that i overdosed myself to death'
Jake opened his eyes, and saw individuals in white lab coats talking to a tall figure. However, his vision was blurred by a strange green liquid.
'Oi! Help!'
He tried to call out for help but realized that he doesn't have a voice.
He looked down, only to see the cold metal floor. He realized that he's swimming inside a large glass tube.
He just shrugged and laughed bitterly.
After some contemplating, he finally pieced together his evidence and came to a conclusion that he had, indeed, reincarnated as a weird creature.
'Well, that was quiet a wasteful life. I never considered changing for the better, and here i am, in another world while my parents are probably mourning their useless son'
Just like almost everyone, he has a family consisting of his dad, mom, and his big sister. Sadly, his childhood wasn't the same as most children have.
His dad was extremely abusive and abandoned them, occasionally sending them laughable amount of money whenever he wants to.
His mom wasn't the best mother, but she was willing to do anything for her children. Although her parenting was rough and terrible, it was still far from abusive.
His sister was the most average in his family. She dropped out of high school and was pressured into working an average salary for her family at a relatively young age. Despite the hardships, she faced everything with a smile and rarely expressed her true emotions.
He, on the other hand, was a lazy and awkward person who indulged himself in gaming and doing drugs. He was isolated from other kids because his mom thought he would be spoiled. Thus, he lacked basic socializing skills and later adopted social anxiety.
'Let's not keeping thinking about that, shall we?'
A female scientist dryly coughed and asked. "Sir, should we keep experimenting?"
The tall figure shook his head and replied, "No, keep modifying the serum until it's compatible."
The female scientist nodded and asked, "What should we do with the test subjects?"
The tall figure caressed his chin and replied, "It'll be a pity if the serum killed them after training them, so keep them locked up in maximum security cells."
"Yessir!"
Jake felt uncomfortable whenever someone mentioned the soul serum. At the same time, he felt more and more curious about this seemingly important serum thing.
Suddenly, a loud 'Ding' interrupted him.
