Chapter 6 - Counter Attack!

"Claudia! Watch out!"

When Claudia turned her head in a panic, in her sight were green rats the size of cats opened up their mouths with their sharp teeth revealed and jumped towards her.

Extreme fear swept through her heart, her body froze, without any courage to escape. The breath of death was approaching, she could even see the roaring and trembling tongue of the wood rat, and the stench from the bloody monster's mouth punched right at her nose.

Without a doubt, these woodrats would completely tear her apart in the next second.

She closed her eyes in despair, welcoming the coming of death. At this critical moment, a white hand suddenly stretched out from behind, grabbed her shoulder, and pulled her back just as the woodrat's sharp teeth were about to chomp her.

"A-Aurora…"

The expected pain did not come. Claudia tremblingly opened her eyes, finding that she was lying in Aurora's arms at the moment. The two of them fell to the ground in a strange and ambiguous posture.

"Hey Claudia… can you move out a little bit?"

Severe pain came from the wound on her chest, but Aurora could only grit her teeth and force a smile.

"Ahhh, I'm sorry, Aurora..." Claudia blushed slightly and wanted to stand up immediately, but she didn't know if it was because of the excessive shock just now. At this moment, she was limp and without any strength, and her feet moved all over her body.

Aurora could feel softness being rubbed all over her body. Although it somehow felt good, it was still a bit unbearable when it pressed on her wound. Aurora feels as if her wound had been slashed by a knife at this moment. It was so painful that her forehead was drenched in sweat.

"Are you all right?"

Gard repelled a few woodrats, rushed to the side of the two, and pulled Claudia up. After confirming that the two were not injured, he breathed a sigh of relief.

"Claudia, quickly take this miss and get on the carriage to escape, it is extremely dangerous now!"

With a few words of advice, he clenched the big sword in his hand and stepped forward again. Just now, a mercenary member was a step too slow due to exhaustion and was overwhelmed by the woodrats.

Gard needed to take over the position of this member immediately; otherwise, the defensive circle would soon be breached, and by then they would all end up as the woodrats' dinner.

Claudia bit her lips in distress as she hesitated about the course of action she should take.

On the one hand, she wanted to quickly follow Gard's order to take the injured Aurora into the carriage and escape. On the other hand, she was distraught about the safety of her companions, and her annoyance surfaced in her face.

Why was she an unarmed priest? What should she do? It would be great if she could fight together with her comrades too…

"Hey… give it to me…"

Claudia stared at Aurora with a puzzled look, as she had no idea what Aurora meant. As the silver-haired girl still looked at her blankly, Aurora patted her shoulder lightly.

"If you are a priest, you should be able to use [Cure] to heal me, right?"

Claudia nodded. Currently, her magic power could be released three times. This was one of the priest's basic spells. However, she still felt doubtful. Even if she used [Cure] to heal her body, it couldn't completely treat her wound. What was her plan?

"Very well." With her abundance of experience as a player, how could Aurora miss the questioning gaze Claudia threw at her. But still, she didn't have the time to explain her plan, ignore her doubt aside and proceeded anyway. "You will use [Cure] to heal me later on, just make sure that my injuries don't get worse during the battle."

The goldilocks-haired girl slowly walked forward, and her eyes turned solemn. There was no room for hesitation anymore, as she had already thrown herself into the battle. She stretched out her right hand facing the front, and a prompt suddenly appeared in her eyes.

[Do you wish to release Oath Sword – Flamberge Waltz?]

"Yes."

— Oh by the grace of the sacred flame, burn all of the evil to ashes!

As the sound of a hymn flowed out of her mouth flawlessly, a crimson hexagram magic circle emerged from Aurora's palm. She stretched her right hand forward and penetrated the center of the magic circle.

In an instant, a raging flame gushed out from within, and the intense heat and flaming tongue made the surrounding woodrats roar in pain and retreat several meters, which immediately relieved the pressure on Gard and the others.

Aurora frowned and slowly pulled out a long red sword from the magic circle.

Claudia and the mercenaries' eyes widened in awe at the sight of the crimson sword in Aurora's hand.

Goddess! They had never seen such a beautiful and exquisite weapon.

The crimson sword seemed to be flowing with golden magma, as if surrounded by a dragon. The long sword was engulfed in flames, as if it were the sovereign of fire, and all the fire in the world was its subject.

Gard also took this opportunity to drink a bottle of potion to quickly replenish his almost exhausted physical strength, but his eyes remained on Aurora. Even though he had seen many magicians summon monsters and fairies, he had never seen a weapon summoned.

Was she a magician? Or a swordsman? He didn't know.

He only knew that even though they were far away, he could still feel the terrifying heat from the flamberge and the fearless eyes of the latter, which proved that she was not an ordinary person.

"Everything is ready... Claudia, heal me with Cure! Let's start the hunt!"

Even though just a moment before she was riddled by hesitation and anxiety, facing the huge hordes of enemies with the Flamberge Waltz in her hand, her thoughts cooled down and her eyes sparkled with excitement. She seemed to be returning to the mighty Auror at the moment.

With her sword pointing forward, she raised the corners of her lips slightly as she saw the terrified woodrats. The time for counterattack had begun!

A ray of holy light fell from the sky on Aurora's body, and her aching chest improved a lot under the radiance of the holy light. She waved the Flamberge Waltz and rushed out under the exclamations of other mercenaries.

"My Goddess! She is suicidal! That's a horde of woodrats!"

The shouts of the mercenaries behind her did not affect Aurora's pace at all. She swung the long sword in his hand and killed the woodrats as if culling weeds and grasses. With every step, one woodrat split into two and the corpse fell into the ground.

The death of their companion stimulated the woodrats, who had flinched a little. Under the stimulation of the bloodlust, their eyes turned bloodshot, and they opened their jaw and rushed towards Aurora like arrows leaving the string.

"Miss, be careful!"

Gard roared with his eyes wide open, watching all the woodrats surrounding Aurora jump up and pounce on her ferociously as if she would drown in the ocean of woodrats at any given moment.

At this critical moment, a tongue of fire spewed out from Aurora's left hand while her whole body whirled sharply. The flame in her hand formed a spiral fire net along the trajectory, and the woodrats were engulfed and scorched by the flame the moment they touched it.

Aurora frowned tightly as there was a smear of bright red on the gauze on her chest. The wound was torn open in the sharp whirl just now.

At this time, another ray of holy light fell on him, and Claudia's second treatment caught up. Aurora was relieved. Her timing was impeccable.

After this round of killings, her level had also risen to level 2. A rush of energy rushed through her body, and another prompt appeared, informing her that she had gained 1 skill point.

Aurora, however, did not have the energy to investigate her current situation.

The pack of woodrats roared and looked for gaps around him. Ordinary people would already be frightened and running wildly at this time, but Aurora was extremely calm. Under the protection of whirling fire from Flamberge Waltz, these pesky woodrats did not dare to attack rashly.

Little by little, she moved forward, trying to find the leader hidden in the woodrat group.

According to the settings in the game, the leader should be on the far left of the woodrat swarm. She only had one chance to make a move, so she must be calm!

But the reality was not a game after all, and her expression suddenly became ugly when she continued to go more than ten meters deep.

There were actually three obvious gathering points in front of her eyes!

Damn it, this problem is troublesome...

Aurora once again swept away the woodrats that were ready to move in front of her with a horizontal slash. The splashed blood had dyed her entire body red.

She suppressed the anxiety in her heart while resisting the attack of woodrats and moved forward a few more steps while keeping attention to the three gathering points in front of her.

Finally, in a gathering point on the right, a small light blue flower caught her attention.

The moment Aurora noticed this little flower, she jumped up suddenly and swung the Flamberge Waltz in her hand downward in mid-air. The sword pointed towards the little flower below, stabbing hard at that position with all her weight on it.

Screeech!!

There was the sensation of the sword piercing the flesh in her hand, and a piercing scream came from the ground.

Aurora pulled out the sword, pointed her left hand down, and a beam of fire elements gathered directly and hit the ground.

Boom!

The fiery flames bombarded the ground and burned the surrounding grass into fly ash. A large amount of soil was blasted out of the ground, and a black shadow rushed out from inside, screaming.

When the dust and smoke dissipated, a rat the size of a calf appeared in front of Aurora's eyes. Its back was scorched black, and there was a hole on it that was bleeding from the outside. It must have been the penetrating wound caused by the Flamberge Waltz just now.

The small, light blue flower swayed gently on its forehead. At this moment, its bright red eyes were staring at Aurora, revealing madness and ferocity.

Seeing the huge monster in front of her, the hair on her back stood up involuntarily!
