Odiak glared at the man before him, who simply snorted coldly in response. Just as the dwarf was about to challenge the Will of the Universe—to argue that this time they wouldn't care about his opinion; if he could not provide assistance, they would find a way to help Kyle themselves—he noticed the old man's face grow pale.
Odiak opened his mouth to speak but was startled when the old man lost his balance. Despite the past grievances between them, he instinctively reached out to help him. It was only then that he noticed the latter was trembling. Odiak wasn't the only one who observed this; Jane noticed it too.
The two supreme elders exchanged bewildered glances.
What had just happened?
Only moments ago, this man had been hurling insults at Odiak, ready to confront the old dwarf; now he was trembling and pale, as if he had sensed a grave danger?
