6Chapter 26
3rd Person's POV
A day have passed since the registration, we can see Ash, Leaf and Koharu having their meal at the pokemon center's cafeteria, they decided to walk out from their hotel so they can get some Viridian fresh air.
"Ash, who will you use in the semi finals?" Leaf suddenly asked while eating.
Ash halted there for a while and smiled.
"You have to wait and see Leaf." Ash said while chuckling, Koharu can't help it but smile at the connection they both have. Leaf just huffed at him and continued on eating.
"By the way Leaf, you should've joined the league." Ash stated, Leaf stopped eating.
"Why's that?" Leaf asked.
"Because I want to see how strong you are, I mean, we always had duo battles but we didn't have one on one battles since then." Ash explained while eating up his curry.
"That may be a good idea, but I just prefer cheering you on from the stands with Koharu, I still have a long way in defeating you, brother." Leaf calmly said and continued on eating.
"I doubt that." Ash said casually, that perked her up.
"What do you mean?" Leaf asked.
"I mean, we've been together for two months now and you've learned so much from me, back to that day when your Bulbasaur was snatched, and the time you wanted to join me on a journey, we're both newbies back then." Ash explained, just finished up his curry.
That made Koharu's interest peaked in, the span of days on when she joined the journey sure is already long for her, but she didn't even asked about their past, so maybe it's a good time they hear them out.
"Yeah but remember, I'm not a wild card and I don't have the badges." Leaf said in a matter of factly tone, that made Ash realize.
"That's true though, well then, I'm not going to push you through, but maybe soon in some future tournaments, you're gonna join with me, and I'll see what my little sister have learned." Ash said and smirked at her.
"I'm not little..." Leaf said and pouted, Koharu can't help but laugh at that, and Ash soon followed.
"What will you do after this tournament Ash?" Koharu suddenly asked, but Ash thought where this one is going, so he made the move first.
"You mean what WE will do after this tournament?" Ash said and smiled at her, Leaf quickly understood what he meant and gave Koharu her usual sly smile, Koharu flustered at that.
"The answer is simple Koharu, me, you, and Leaf will continue on travelling, meet lots and lots of new pokemons, and I promised N to make you into a fine pokemon trainer." Ash explained, which is surprisingly bold of him, even for Leaf, Koharu's blush redenned even further, Ash noticed this and can't help but ask.
"Are you sick? Do you have fever?" Ash asked, worried, maybe he said something wrong.
"N-N-No, I-I'm fine..." Koharu murmured, she saw Leaf giving her a smirk and can't help it but get embarassed.
"Look! Ash's here!" A familiar voice called out, they turned their attention at the source of the voice and turns out the Alola gang saw them, Sophocles was the first one to greet them.
"Hello Ash! You've arrived!" Sophocles exclaimed happily.
"I see that you have also arrived as well, where is Gladion?" Ash asked him, but someone answered the question.
"He went to stroll by himself, probably getting ready for the tournament." It was his mother, Lusamine, she walked towards the three followed by the others.
"Good to see you Ash, Leaf and Koharu." She greeted.
"Likewise, Ma'am Lusamine." The three replied and offered them some seats for them to occupy, they gladly accepted.
"So, five days and the tournament begins..." She trailed off.
"Oh yeah, you were one of the spectators together with the champions and the elite four." Leaf realized, Lusamine chuckled and nodded at her.
"If you want, you can join us in spectating, Koharu can also come too, since she's the daughter of the Galar professor." Lusamine invited them.
"That'll be much appreciated Ma'am Lusamine, since we badly needed one." Leaf said happily.
"So that also means we can meet the other champions and elite four?" Koharu asked, nervous and at the same time, excited, Lusamine nodded in response.
"Hey Ash, did you know? Someone just beat both the Hoenn and Sinnoh wild cards in an unofficial double battle." Mallow asked, he and Leaf tensed up a bit at that.
"Too bad we didn't knew who defeated them, that means you have yourself some new rivals." Lana said, Ash and Leaf loosen when they said they didn't knew who their opponents was.
"Y-Yeah, I hope I can battle them too." Was all he can manage to say, he didn't want to look suspicious, and Leaf was just silent there, Koharu can't help it but giggle at them, such dishonest siblings.
"Hey Ash, after this tournament, I want to battle you too!" Kiawe declared and stood up.
"You're on!" Ash said and smirked at him, they both have this rivalry friendship.
"Set those aside, I am here as the spectator of the tournament to say to you that there might be more wild cards than the previous tournaments held last year." Lusamine stated, he tensed up a bit again, trying not to be suspiscious.
"I-I see, I shall be more formidable to them then." He lied, obviously he's also one of them, but it can be a surprise for them during the semi finals.
"Yes you should, wild cards of the champions are strong, make sure you study them." Lusamine replied, though she should cheer on Gladion more than him, but she's confident that her wild card will do fine throughout the tournament.
"Uhh mom, Gladion has called us." Lillie interjected.
"He is? Very well then, we shall take our leave for now Ash, Leaf, Koharu." Lusamine said and slightly bowed at them, they sweatdropped at the gesture, and then the gang left.
"Weird that Ma'am Lusamine had those words for you Ash." Leaf said.
"But good thing we knew that all there are more wild cards joining this tournament though, I watched the last year's conference, I only saw Tobias, the Sinnoh wild card." Koharu said, that peaked up their attention.
"What's he like?" Leaf asked.
"That man had legendaries in his sleeves, just like Ash, I saw his Darkrai and Latias on the tournament." She answered.
"That is so cool, I want to meet him too!" Leaf exclaimed excitedly.
"Maybe he'll be here in this tournament, I mean this one is popular since all of the champions and elite four in every region will be here to spectate, so clearly this will be one of the biggest tournaments ever held." Ash explained.
"I agree, but who knows?" Leaf said.
As soon as they finished up their food, they stood up from their seats and thanked Nurse Joy for everything, before heading out to the battlefield to explore what's it like.
...
"Sir, we're close on opening the wormholes!" My agent reported, my smirk grew wider and wider.
"Locate the pintpoint of where it could possibly appear." I commanded them.
"Yes sir!" They replied and focused back on their computers, I waited patiently for their result and they didn't let me down.
"Sir, it looks like it could possibly show up at Viridian City, the Indigo Plateau." He responded as he finished up analyzing things.
"And it'll take two weeks before we will successfully open up a wormhole."
Bingo.
"Ghetsis, you know the drill, get yourself ready and those Beast Balls." I said to the Plasma leader.
"Very well sir." He replied and bowed, before walking out.
"Perfect, perfect! It won't be long now! I'll be taking over that tournament!" I declared and laughed as I stared at the holographic picture of the Indigo League stadium.
...
Two legendary beasts in a deep slumber, and it was interrupted by slight disturbance.
"Who dares to disturb the ultra space dimension." Said the lion like pokemon with a huge steel mane on it's neck, it's quite large and menacing. It roared loudly in it's dimension.
And on the other part of the dimension.
"Disturbance, unnecessary disturbance, those who did this shall pay!" Said also by a somewhat bat like pokemon, it's huge, beautiful crescent wings flapped strongly and gave off some dust particles, it screeched loudly, triggered at the disturbance.
With those two being awakened, they're finding a way to escape their dimension and check out the outside world.
3rd Person's POV
It was now the day for the tournament to be held, many people from across the worlds have attended the big tournament, knowing that this tournament is rarely to happen. Also trainers from different regions have come to participate the said league.
The tournament have actually started, and no Ash can be seen until the semi finals, likewise for Gladion and the other wild cards, that made them wonder, especially Gladion, since he knew he'll be participating the league but didn't saw him in the elimination rounds, only one way to find out.
There have been many events in the elimination round, a guy named Calem have actually sweeped the round towards quarter finals and semi finals, with his team consisting of Chesnaught, Talonflame, Aegislash, Absol, Pyroar and Noivern, pretty much a team full of Kalos Pokemon, though in those rounds, he just showed off his Chesnaught and Talonflame, so he did some research and knew his other team.
It had Ash's slight attention but just dropped it off.
Ash, Leaf and Koharu had taken the time to rest themselves up for the time they'll show up, especially Ash, he did some final adjustments and trainings with him and his pokemons, just to ensure everything is suited just fine.
Quarterfinals is also the same, but yet, much events happened, but no wild cards have been spotted, because as we said, they'll show up in the semi finals.
And by now, everyone's favourite, the semi finals of the tournament, where wild cards are being shown right now, it was now day three of the tournament, and Ash had himself ready for the upcoming battles, the wide screen's have set off some new revealed faces with fancy borders beside the frame, means that the trainers with it are wild cards. The graph shuffled their frames, and the time it stopped, he quickly found his frame and beside it, was the Calem guy he had his attention before, that'll be pretty interesting for him, since he got the advantage of knowing his pokemons, or is that how wild cards work?
"Ash, are you ready?" Asked the younger girl of the group.
"I'm confident Leaf, thank you for asking." Ash replied with a smile and petted her sister's head, that didn't make her huff, but instead, she thought that maybe he needed to do that before the round.
"Good luck out there Ash." This time, it was Koharu, Ash can't help it but also smile at her.
"I'll be needing that one Koharu." Ash said and gave off his toothly grin. Koharu flustered at that, she admired him that much, and she noticed that she had his hat all the time, and thought of an idea.
"And by the way Ash," Koharu trailed off and wore off his cap and put it on him, it fitted perfectly.
"You'll need that one too." Koharu said and gave him a sweet smile, Ash was slightly speechless at that and again gave off his usual signature grin.
"I'll be heading out." Ash said and waved, before walking off. They also waved back and proceeded to the VIP box Lusamine was talking about.
"By the way Koharu, you did a great job there, that was bold of you." Leaf suddenly said while walking.
Koharu's response was just her getting herself flustered.
...
"Ladies and gentlemen, we have here our long awaited branch of this tournament! The semi finals round!" The announcer boomed throughout the big battlefield, almost triple the size of a football field. Crowd's shouts, yells, claps, and cheers are roaring throughout it.
"Now, just a quick reminder for this and the future rounds, wild cards from all over the world, who have proven worthy of joining this tournaments with the approval of the important people here in this tournament, or should we also include, the champions themselves, will be joining us in this time around."
"Semi finals will be quite longer than expected because we have more wild cards than the previous tournament, and without further ado, let's reveal the matchups!" The announcer yelled and all of them focused their attention on the big screen of the stadium, it then showed to people on screen.
"This is fantastic everyone! First matchup and we have ourselves a wild card already!" Yelled the announcer as he noticed one of the contenders had the familiar frame border.
"It is a battle between the wild card of Kanto, Ash Ketchum, and the trainer who sweeped the elimination rounds and quarterfinals with just his Chesnaught and Talonflame!" The announcer yelled. And with that cue, Ash on the left side showed up and walked towards the battlefield, on the opposing side, he saw a rather tall guy with a pair of goggles on his head, he wore a dark blue jacket with white streaks on it, and blue jeans, he also had a mega bracelet on his wrist containing a key stone in it, so Ash though that his Absol can mega evolve.
"Now this is the very first time we heard the word 'Kanto wild card,' basically we all knew that Lance over there has his pride of not having any wild cards since, what made him do that? We can find out in this battle!"
...
At the private stand, there we can see most of the important people of the regions, champions, elite fours, regional professors, the Aether foundation, and many more. Everyone is looking at Lance, and can't believe what they just heard.
"That is your wild card?" Cynthia was the first one to ask, she pointed at at Ash's being.
"Wait, Cynthia, more importantly, you have a wild card?!" Steven interjected her and asked his question instead.
"No wait, most importantly, HE is your wild card!" This time, it was Lusamine, sure he knew that boy, but she never heard that he's Lance's wild card.
"Now now, you don't have to say things to me, how about we just spectate this match?" Lance just calmly said without taking a gaze on them.
But more importantly, there's Alain, who instantly familiarized the boy before, but as he thought further and further, he was interrupted by someone entering the door, much to his doom.
"H-Hi Ma'am Lusamine, can we join too?" It was Leaf, together with Koharu, at the sight of the Galar girl, the Galar professor quickly perk up.
"Ah, Leaf and Koharu, how good to see you, you didn't told us that Ash down there is a wild card of that man over there." Professor Sakuragi greeted them.
"Dad you're here!" Koharu said and then hugged her father.
"It's good to see you girls, how come you didn't told us your brother is a wild card?" Lusamine asked and glared playfully at the girl.
"Uhh, it's because you didn't asked?" Leaf also playfully replied, Lusamine just giggled at her response, the Alola gang were also there and greeted the girl, but as the greetings are done, she and Alain's eyes met.
"You..." Alain was the first one to mutter, gaining the other's attention, especially Diantha.
"What about her?" Diantha asked.
"She's the one I've been talking about." Alain respondedam and got Diantha's attention.
"Oh, you're the one back at Lumiose! That was a fine battle back then." Leaf casually said and smiled.
"You're the girl who beat him? With your Gardevoir?" Diantha asked, but someone interrupted their small reunion.
"Shh, the battle's starting!" It was Drake, who were now annoyed at the noise the stand is producing, so Diantha shrugged it off for now and all of them focused on the battle.
...
"Trainers, this will be a six on six full battle, the first one to defeat all of one's pokemons wins."
"Are you both ready?" Ash and Calem nodded at that.
"Very well then, reveal your pokemons!"
"I don't care about you being Lance's wild card, but I'm the one who will be taking this league! Chesnaught, time to roll!" Calem yelled and sent off his Chesnaught, it stood menacingly on the field.
"Charizard, you're the one I first owned, so let's also do our first debut here in this tournament, I choose you!" Ash yelled and also tossed it's pokeball, revealing a slightly bigger Charizard than the usual ones, it gave off a loud, intimidating roar before glaring at his opponent.
Sure he hasn't been used for awhile, but for the past months they have been training together, hard, making him one of the powerhouses in his party, he uses him for some occasions, preferably, the one happening right now.
It already had the attention of the audience, as well as the spectators on the private stand.
"Battle begin!"
"You're appearance will not intimadate us, Chesnaught use Rollout!" Calem commanded.
Chesnaught roared first before curling himself in a ball and charged towards Charizard, it's spiky back makes it look more intimidating.
"Stop it's tracks." Ash ordered, slightly calm, he's fond of Charizards power, so he's confident that he'll do fine.
Chesnaught continued on rolling towards Charizard, who just stood there, and it was about to smash himself into Charizard when his bare claws stopped it from rolling, he threw Chesnaught back to where it came from, without even breaking a sweat.
"Th-That's a strong display of power back there!" The announcer yelled, he stood on his seat to get a clear view of the battlefield, as he can't believe what he just saw.
"I-Impossible..." Calem muttered, but that didn't stop him.
"Chesnaught, let's play safe, use Pin Missile!"
"Counter with Thunder Punch!"
And with that being said, Chesnaught fired off the bug type move from it's back and aimed it towards Charizard, but it was easily deflected with it's Thunderpunch.
"Let's set the bar even higher, charge through with Steel Wing!"
"Block it with Wood Hammer, quick!"
Charizard roared before taking off, it's wings glowed white and grew a bit longer and he charged towards the grass type Kalos starter, Chesnaught manage to deflect it's left wing but it manuevered, resulting for him to get hit by the other wing.
"Finish this with Flamethrower!" Ash yelled in victory, and with that, Charizard roared before letting out a thick stream of fire and headed towards the weakened grass type, Calem watched in horror as his pokemon was hit by a deadly large Flamethrower, but he was too late to respond, Chesnaught took the hit and was quickly fainted.
"Chesnaught is unable to battle! Charizard wins the round, trainer, release your second pokemon." The referee called out, Calem sighed and returned back his Chesnaught, and revealed his second pokemon.
"Talonflame, take the skies!"

It is the last round, Calem had lost his cool, to think that he's swept the elimination rounds and quarterfinal rounds, and yet, he's here, getting swept by some unknown guy of Kanto, even the spectators can't seem to believe at what they were seeing.
"Absol, you're my last hope, at least win this round for your other team!" Calem exclaimed as he tossed out his last pokeball, it revealed the disaster Pokemon, Absol, it has a mega stone attached to a pendant on his neck.
"Charizard, can you still go on?" Ash asked the lizard pokemon, just to make sure. Charizard responded by giving him a thumbs up.
"Very well then." Ash is assured.
"Battle begin!"
"Absol, start things off with Shadow Ball!"
"Charizard, crush that Shadow Ball with Thunder Punch!"
With that cue, Absol quickly fired off Shadow Ball towards the fire type starter, but just like before, it was easily deflected by his Thunder Punch.
"We will not go down that easily, Charizard, you use Steel Wing!" Ash exclaimed excitedly, he's really feeling the match. He isn't like Leaf when he battles, sure he can also do that, but at circumstances like this, he'll show his emotions through official pokemon battles, just to make sure he's one with his pokemon.
"Oh no you don't, counter with Megahorn!" Calem also responded, although this is his last match, he's desperate to take out his Charizard, that way, he'll be contented.
The attacks went head on, Absol is in par with Charizard, but still having a hard time adjusting to it's strength, but overall, he managed to hold on. They broke the collision and went back to their places.
"That Absol is good." Ash acknowledged.
"Thank you, but at this point, I'm gonna raise the bar even higher, Absol, let's do this, mega evolve!" Calem yelled as he raised his mega bracelet containing the Absolite in there, Absol howled and then undergo mega evolution, after the light died down, it revealed a much more magestic Absol, it's horn grew longer, it also managed to get itself a pair of angelic wings, it also had striders down on it's feet. It howled once again and did battle stance.
"That's a cool looking Absol, but it'll not stop us, Charizard, fight with Flamethrower!" Ash commanded.
"Quickly deflect it with your Dark Pulse!" Calem quickly responded and Absol had his attack fired off towards the stream of flames that is headed towards it, but it was overpowered, so he quickly dashed sideways to evade the attack.
"Even if he's mega evolved, it's still overpowered..." Calem muttered, but shrugged it off.
On the other side, Ash also felt that Charizard's power is depleating, and he knows he should do something about it.
"Absol, strengthen up and use Megahorn!" Calem exclaimed.
"Charizard, I know your tired, but let's do this together, I know you can still hold on, deflect it with Thunder Punch!" Ash exclaimed desperately.
Charizard topped that and went head on with Absol, electricity ran through it's fist and made collision with Absol's Megahorn. Both attacks made huge impact throughout the field.
'It's happening again.'
Ash felt a new power surging around him, and so does Charizard, Ash felt like he sees Absol through Charizard.
"Do you feel it Charizard?! This power...let's get stronger together. Stronger and stronger!" Ash shouted, and so does Charizard, and with that, Charizard was suddenly engulfed in a fiery vortex, it wasn't a Fire Spin, it was actuallt thicker and covered Charizard's whole body, Absol back up a bit, and Calem was horrified at the sight.
...
"What is that thing?!" Everyone in the private box yelled, except for Lance, Leaf and Koharu, sure Leaf and Koharu is used to seeing that kind of phenomenon, but it's also something new to them, as for Lance, he didn't knew anything about it and was actually genuinely surprised at the display of power his wild card gave, he didn't regret a single thing about making the boy his wild card and represent Kanto.
"Are we seeing this?" Steven asked, this is beyond his knowledge of mega evolution, or maybe in fact, this wasn't a mega evolution.
"That is insane!" It was Cynthia, this is far more mysterious than her knowledge about Charizard.
Lusamine diverted her looks at a certain young girl, Leaf just sweatdropped at that.
"Bond Phenomenon, but this is our first." Leaf quickly said. Lusamine chuckled and returned her gaze at the battle.
...
The fiery vortex died down and what's infront of them is somewhat a new form of Charizard, instead of the usual one, it's tail is now rather longer, the flames at the tip of it's tail is more fiery than before, the large structure grew even larger and more intimidating, it's menacing eyes also emitted fire, as well as the side of it's mouth, it's belly had red streaks through it, mixing with it's orange colored body, and it's wings are on fire and was also larger than before. The intimidating form of Charizard towered the battlefield, it roared loudly and took the air.
The crowd went silent, they couldn't believe their own eyes.
"Calem, I'm afraid I have to end this battle now, Charizard, Flamethrower!" Ash yelled.
"Quick, counter with Dark Pulse, full power!" Calem responded, shivering at the sight of the Charizard's form.
Charizards flames were more deadlier, stronger and more powerful than before, but Absol was the same too, as it's Dark Pulse were also larger compared to the ones before.
The attacks collided with each other, and after few seconds, the Flamethrower easily overpowered the dark type move, and Absol did manage to dodge in the last second but Ash quickly reacted.
"Steel Wing, don't let him get away!" Ash quickly yelled, and with that, Charizard charged towards Absol, it's fiery wings glowed brighter red. Absol wasn't too quick to dodge that one this time and was hit pretty fair.
"Absol no!" Calem called out, but unfortunately, Absol fainted on the spot and reverted back to it's original form.
Charizard roared victoriously, before engulfing himself back in flames again, and returning back to the original form, it landed on the battlefield and gave Ash the usual thumbs up.
"Absol is unable to battle, which means the winner for this match is the wild card of Kanto, Ash Ketchum!" The referee announced.
Cheerd boomed throughout the huge stadium, Ash's name were chanted.
Calem returned back his fainted Absol and walked towards Ash.
"That's a fine Charizard you have there, what was that?" Calem asked.
"Thank you, and it was probably because of our bond." Ash replied.
"I want to battle you again soon, and if that time comes, let me battle Charizard again." Calem said and smirked.
"You're on." Ash replied and both shook each other's hand to show off sportmanship.
"Ladies and gentlemen, that was a fine battle we just witnessed back there! Kanto's wild card is not a joking matter, let's give it up once again for the winner, Ash Ketchum!"
Again, the crowd went wild for the last time, and Ash just realized something.
"Oh, I sense explanation."
