I'm sitting back, eating my lunch at my desk as I go over some paperwork I needed to fill out for a patient. I was looking forward to this weekend, since Lance and Lirael would be coming back. My day was relatively easy today, so I'd be leaving here early to take care of the payroll at the club and do the bank drops before going back to the apartment to pack some more things.
I've still been feeling uneasy, not knowing and wanting to ask if she's had her lunch with John yet. Every night I have not been able to control myself, and have been rougher than I normally would be with her. She seems to love it though, so I don't feel that bad for it. When I got to the house on Wednesday and she was laid out on the bed in that lace....
My heart starts pounding in my chest, remembering how sexy and wonderful she is. I know I've been distant these past few days, and for her to think of doing something like this? For me?
I can't wipe the smile off my face as I think about doing something special for her. But what should I do? I get up and throw my trash away and scan the paperwork I'd been working on to send them in an email. I finish up at the office and lock up before giving David a call.
"Hey doc, what's up? You miss my pretty face or something?" David asks nonchalantly.
I scoff, "You know it, I really do have to adjust the photo frame on my urinal again." I snicker as David grumbles something under his breath.
"Ha ha ha.." David's laugh drips with sarcasm.
"Anyways, the reason why I'm calling is to ask you a question. I was thinking of doing something special for Sarina. I just wanted to run some ideas by you, get your opinion on them."
Half an hour later, I'm parked at the club still talking to David, finding out more about how he's feeling about marrying Alyssa. Once he seems like he's in a good place mentally, I let him go and head inside to the office through the back door. I run into Simon who's finishing up writing the liquor orders.
"Hey hot stuff, you're in here a little later than I expected, good thing though. Gave me some extra time to do these." He holds up the clipboard and runs his free hand through his short brown hair, ruffling it a bit.
"Thank Simon. Have there been any more issues with the bathroom in room 6?" I inquire, looking over the liquor order.
"Nope. It's all good. You about to do payroll?"
"Yeah, I'll be in the office for a while before I go do bank drops after that. Do you need change for the bar?"
"No, the police have stopped by though. You might want to give them a call. They want to talk to Lance, but I told them he's still on his honeymoon, so they asked to speak with you again."
Sighing, I nod, "Alright, I'll give them a call, get that done and over with. Thanks for letting me know."
"They were asking a lot of questions too, about drugs and how often people get roofied here. I told them that was the first instance that we are aware of and that our contracts clearly state that there is a strict safe, sane, and consensual policy here. Drugs are strictly prohibited with state laws and even if someone seems to be intoxicated they're told to leave. They wanted a copy of our contract but I told them I don't have spares for them at the moment. So, you may want to call Lance first." Simon warns me.
"Shit. Okay, I'll do that." I resign myself to the possible legal battle that was about to form if they felt that this place needed to be investigated. I enter the office and sit down and send an email with everything Simon just told me to Lance. I do the payroll, enter in the bank drops and check the change for the registers. I swap out the needed change with the bills in the bank drops, make my notes in the register that I did, recounted and marked the amounts down again before getting ready to take the cash to the bank.
My phone starts going off and it's Lance.
"Hey man, I'm sorry about that." I answer it quickly.
"No worries." Lancer starts and I hear a scuffle in the background before Lirael's voice joins in.
"Hey, Brian! We miss you!"
Hearing her happy voice brings a smile to my face, "We miss you guys, too." I chuckle.
"How's Sarina?" She asks as I hear more shuffling and hear her tell Lance to let her talk to me for five minutes and then he can have me all to himself.
"Um.. she's been alright. We're working on some things between us, but I don't see us not being able to overcome it. Oh... since I have you on the phone. I have a question for you."
"Ask away."
"Could Sarina's brother use your wedding decorations for a simple ceremony at Alyssa's house?" I ask.
"Alyssa? Who's Alyssa?"
I face palm myself, remembering they've not been here to meet or be told about Alyssa.
"Sorry, I forgot, you've not been here for the past two weeks. Long story short, Alyssa is David's high school sweetheart, you know the one that got away kind of thing."
"Okay, go on."
"She's a nurse and ended up working at the nursing home he was staying in. " She hums that she is following along. "Well, they are back together because they both realized they messed up when they were younger and she wants to enjoy everything they can while he's still here. David feels like it won't be as beautiful as she deserves and I thought maybe you could help with that?"
Lirael's draws out a long, "Awwww! It's like a romantic story..!! Yes! Of course! I was going to put them up for sale online or something but I like that so much better! There's a couple I'm keeping, but when we get home I'll make sure those get put to the side and you can take her the rest! Does she need a dress? She can borrow mine, but just make sure she knows its on loan."
"I will run it by her about the dress, but I think she might end up purchasing her own. I'll be taking David to get a suit when she was supposed to get a dress."
"Alright, well the offer is there. You know Sarina's going to start getting engagement fever with two weddings that have happened!" Lirael chuckles.
"Woman! We've only been together for three months!" I laugh back at her, "However, I've been packing up my apartment to move into her place." I inform her.
"Oh! Yay! I'm so happy for you two."
I hear her happiness, her carefree, excited spirit that I've only seen in short bursts over the years of knowing her and can't help the tear that comes to my eye. It hits me right then, that I helped her after all her trauma to get to this point. Lance was the bigger factor to her change, but still I helped this. My brother would be proud of me.
I shake my head and thank her, before more shuffling is heard and Lance comes back on the phone.
"Five minutes is five minutes, I need to talk to him about the club stuff. We will see them in just two days." Lance tells Lirael firmly, and I swear I could see and hear her little pout she does with him.
"Okay, Brian. I need you to go ahead and call the police department and tell them that I will be back by Monday. That I will take all the information they would like down there. If you can have them send me an email with the information they wish to have. Answer any of their questions, we have nothing to hide, the club's policies are clearly stated and that's why we have security to help enforce those policies. I have all the permits and paperwork filled out with the city, county, and state to have the place so nothing is illegal. When we get back home, we'll get to the bottom of things. Now, I'm going to let you go, we are going to go enjoy our last day here."
"Alright, I'll do that. You two enjoy and I'll see you in a few days." I hang up with Lance and go ahead and take care of depositing the bank drops before giving the police officer a call. I offer to stop by and leave a copy of the contracts there and answer any more questions they may have.
I send Sarina a text to let her know what I'm doing and tell her I'm not sure what time I'll be done at the police department.
She replies that she understands, that she'll be packing stuff at the apartment and taking it back to the house.
I arrive at the station and see Dass getting out of her car in the parking lot.
"Hey Dass, what are you doing here?" I ask her, making her whip her head around until she spots me.
"Oh hey, Brian. I got a call not long ago that I needed to answer a couple more questions. You get the same call?" She asks, sticking her hands in her pockets.
"No, I was told by Simon that they called and had some questions. I spoke with Lance too and he told me to just answer them honestly, that the club and it's policies are there for a reason. He'll take care of everything once he gets back here." We walk up to the doors and I open the door for her.
Before we walk inside, I see something out of the corner of my eye, but when I look, I don't see anything. Thinking maybe it was just light moving off of a car or bird, I shrug it off and head inside.
