Chereads / The Mid Laner Belongs To The Jungler / Chapter 83 - ... A Sign?

Chapter 83 - ... A Sign?

"Congratulations on your victory! That was a great game!"

The same female host welcomed Fu Yue and Wei Chen who were invited to do the post-game interview with a big smile.

Wei Chen brought the microphone closer to his lips and gave a slight bow, "Thank you."

The host grinned, "Everyone has been praising 404's performance non-stop. Silence, you must've been proud as you are the one to scout him into the team."

Wei Chen didn't shy away from her flattery and nodded, "I am."

Hearing this, the host covered her lips with the script, her eyes bent twinkling with mischievousness.

Fu Yue glanced at the host and internally sighed, knowing that the incoming question would be another controversial topic.

As expected, the host tossed out an ambiguous question with a meaningful smile.

"You two work really well together. Are you two close in private?"

It would be too abrupt if Fu Yue were to suddenly step in so he could only look at Wei Chen from the side waiting to hear his response.

He wouldn't say anything strange, right?

Fortunately, Wei Chen knew his limits and didn't fan the flame, "The schedule is tight so we have to train together every day to build the rapport."

Receiving such a standard response, a tinge of disappointment flitted through the host's eyes.

Hey, you have been so bold recently, why are you suddenly being sensible now?

Knowing that she wouldn't gain anything from a veteran like Wei Chen, she quickly regained her composure and switched the target to Fu Yue.

"404, you've made your appearance twice and got crowned as the MVP both times. How do you feel?"

Suddenly being cued, Fu Yue put on a polite smile and humbly said, "I am glad that I am executing my role well."

The host further asked with a curious expression, "What was your strategy?"

Want me to spill the beans? No way.

Not falling for her trap, he confidently responded with a short reply, "Just win."

Being slapped with such a dumb answer, the host's smile finally stiffened.

Still, the host didn't give up on getting a hot scoop. She steered the topic back to Wei Chen's recent controversy.

"Ah, right. I almost forgot. There is another thing to celebrate, isn't it? Silence, has spring finally come?"

Not expecting such a direct question, Fu Yue's eyes couldn't help but twitch.

Is this a post-game interview or gossip news?

Usually, the players' private lives wouldn't be brought up as a form of courtesy.

All players had to do was to be careful not to leak their tactics during interviews.

Even last time, the host was only beating around the bush, not being so blunt like this.

Despite the question being a bit impolite, the crowd wildly cheered for the host and kept giving her thumbs up for her boldness.

Fu Yue, who was the recipient of Wei Chen's confession, had his heart almost leap out of his chest with everyone's enthusiasm.

Under everyone's expectant gaze, Wei Chen's expression remained unchanged. His lips parted and he calmly answered with a slight nod, "Spring indeed arrived early this year."

The host: "..."

The audience: "..."

Fu Yue: "Pfff."

Fu Yue's abrupt laugh broke the silence and soon, the venue was filled with laughter.

[Hahahaha true!]

[He dodged the question with precision! lol]

[There is someone who actually believed in this rumor?]

[Well, I didn't believe it initially but after watching Silence's broadcast, I am, too, not sure…]

[Has nobody dug up anything about No Inted Just Bad yet?]

[Don't believe everything on the internet, go touch some grass!]

[Online romance will never work!]

Getting into the van with the heater on, Fu Yue felt the chill surrounding his body gradually dissipate.

Although the temperature had already risen above zero, Fu Yue still shivered from the cold wind.

Looking out of the window to see the once-bald trees have now started to sprout new leaves, he softly mumbled, "I guess spring is really here."

"A City has a lot of beautiful scenic spots, especially in spring, flowers are blooming everywhere."

Hearing this, Fu Yue turned to look at Wei Chen who was sitting beside him in surprise, "Captain, you actually go out sightseeing?"

Aren't you a shut-in?

Perhaps, his gaze was too direct and Wei Chen was able to understand his implication easily.

He calmly said, "I am a local here."

Fu Yue's eyes widened in shock, "You are from A City?!"

Since Wei Chen was always staying at the base, Fu Yue assumed that he came from another city just like him.

Now that he thinks about it, he knows close to nothing about Wei Chen…

This realization suddenly hit Fu Yue that outside of the game, the two of them were actually not that close.

Even in private all they talked about were games…

Wait. Is Wei Chen's 'like' only at the level of having a crush?

Like how someone from class A has a crush on someone in class B despite barely knowing each other?

After all, Wei Chen has never said out loud that he likes him either.

… Is this just a fling?

If so, it makes sense why Wei Chen could still behave like nothing happened and didn't press him for a reply.

This momentary feeling is not deep and will pass soon.

Having figured this out, Fu Yue should have been pleased about this discovery but instead, he felt… uncomfortable.

"What are you thinking?"

Suddenly being asked out of the blue, Fu Yue blurted out his honest thought, "Thinking about Wei Chen."

Only after words escaped his mouth did Fu Yue come back to his senses and hurriedly look to the side trying to explain himself.

"Ah, I mean I seem to not know much about you! Don't misunderstand!"

Looking at the flustered Fu Yue, Wei Chen's eyes were full of smiles, "Oh? Do you want to learn more about me?"

To avoid embarrassment, Fu Yue slightly cleared his throat and reasoned, "Well, we will work together for a long time so it won't hurt to get to know each other better."

As if agreeing with his words, Wei Chen nodded his head and suddenly posed a question, "Then can you tell me your likes and dislikes?"

Fu Yue blinked his eyes in confusion, "All of a sudden?"

Why does the topic suddenly turn to him?

Wei Chen looked back, and calmly said, "I, too, want to know you better."

Not expecting this move at all, Fu Yue's face immediately burnt. He subconsciously looked at other people in the van.

Coach He had his eyes glued to his notebook, seemingly not hearing anything.

Zhao Fu, on the other hand, was sleeping right next to the coach while their bot lane had their headphones on.

Feeling relieved that no one seemed to overhear their conversation, Fu Yue whispered, "Let's not talk about it here."

Wei Chen didn't care whether their talk was overheard or not but he still followed Fu Yue to speak in a whisper, "Then let's continue in private?"

Fu Yue looked at him speechlessly, "Why are you so obsessed over this matter?"

Wei Chen didn't beat around the bush and honestly replied, "Because I want to be on your like list."

Fu Yue was so caught off-guard by his statement that his heartbeat accelerated and he accidentally released his pheromones.

Catching a whiff of the woody pheromones, Wei Chen paused. He slightly retreated, "... Your pheromones are leaking."

Fu Yue snapped back to his senses and quickly curbed his pheromones, he apologized, "I'm sorry."

Wei Chen reassured, "Don't be." After a small pause, he added, "Your pheromones are quite strong so I am afraid that the other Alphas would be affected and you will be put in an uncomfortable situation."

Hearing this, Fu Yue glanced at Wei Chen who seemed to be unaffected. He reconfirmed in a doubtful tone, "Really? But you seem fine to me though?"

Not to brag but Fu Yue had good control over his pheromones. So far, he never caused inconvenience to others except for Wei Chen.

Other than his family, Wei Chen might be the only one who knew what his pheromones smell like.

Not to mention, Wei Chen even stayed in the same building as him during his heat cycle so Fu Yue didn't have the impression that his pheromones could be lethal to others.

In the meantime, Wei Chen, who rarely got stumped, slightly pursed his lips, trying to come up with an answer that wouldn't make him sound like a pervert.

In the end, Wei Chen slightly turned his head to the side and muttered, "Just because…"

Fu Yue craned his neck closer trying to hear what the other person was saying.

Wei Chen finished his sentence, "I am jealous."

After these words, the atmosphere instantly plunged into silence. It took another short while before Fu Yue was able to recover from the shock and gave an awkward oh.

He scooted to the side and stiffly looked outside of the window.

What to do… Why can't I stop smiling?

...

The next day, Fu Yue started the live broadcast at his usual time.

Despite still being early in the morning, the number of viewers jumped to tens of thousands almost immediately.

Fu Yue was greeted by numerous gifts and messages.

[404 you were really handsome yesterday!]

[Oh my gosh, he is really beautiful!]

[I watched the game in person and man, he is even prettier in real life!]

[To think that he is so ruthless in the game… I almost forgot that he is an O.]

[Si-ge, please accept me as your Didi!]

[Why are you up so early?]

[Xiao Si, marry me!]

[Xiao Si, have my babies!]

Fu Yue: "..."

Growing up as a man, the last one was a big culture shock to him.

Fu Yue pretended not to see it and thanked everyone for the gifts.

"I will double row today."

[With who?]

[Is there anyone who wakes up around this time?]

[Upstairs, did you forget that Silence exists?]

[Chenyue?! Ah ah ah! What a great way to start the day!]

[Are you playing with Silence?!]

Opening the game, Fu Yue nodded, "I am going to play with my Captain."

His words just fell and the door to the training room opened.

Even though the camera could only capture up to the newcomer's shoulders, everyone could discern that the person was Wei Chen dressed in casual clothes.

[Sometimes I still can't believe that a Dominant Alpha like Silence is alone in the same room as a Dominant Omega and everyone seems to be fine with it.]

[Hey. Do you think A and O are like wild animals who get into heat just by being in the same space?]

[Who is Silence? He is not like those unsculptured Alphas who think with their lower body!]

[Didn't Silence already have a thing with that game anchor? He wouldn't lay his hand on his teammate, right?]

[Right. Stay away from my Xiao Si. He is mine!]

Just as Fu Yue wondered whether he should close the chat completely, the smell of shampoo suddenly reached his nose followed by another person's body heat.

Wei Chen with his hair still slightly damped appeared in the same frame as Fu Yue. He glanced at the chat and coldly said, "He is my mid-laner, not yours."

He then simply banned that person and said to Fu Yue, "Next time, just ban them."

Fu Yue obediently nodded, "Oh. Got it."

Only after receiving his answer did Wei Chen back away and go to sit down in front of his computer.

In the meantime, the direction of the barrage shifted and everyone squealed excitedly.

[Silence is exerting his dominance! Ahhhhhh]

[Silence is jealous!]

[Wow, the alpha pheromones almost leaked through the screen.]

[How did 404 stay sane after having a firsthand experience of this?]

[I don't know whether I should be jealous of Silence or 404…]

[I think No Inted Just Bad is just a distraction! The real mistress is 404!]

[Who knows? No Inted Just Bad might turn out to be 404?]

[I think so too.]

Fu Yue: "..." It is okay to be stupid sometimes guys.
