Melinda stepped off her bed, pushing away the covers and getting on her feet, did a few stretches in the dim room, and then moved towards where the windows were and pulled away the curtains, letting light into the room.
"Alexa, play some music," she called out to the home assistant system, hoping it still functioned by voice recognition as she glanced out at the city below, but there was no response from the home assistant system.
At this point, she was very sure that something was wrong with the home assistance system, but she couldn't for the life of her determine what it was, and since she couldn't, she decided to leave the job of figuring out what was wrong with the home assistance system for later.
