Chapter 5 - Kyoshi Warriors

Appa finally swooped down, past the cloud cover, and Keoshi island came into view. Keo was once again stuck by the beauty of a landscape, primarily untainted by humans.

A crowd quickly formed around Appa, and Aang explained that he was the avatar, along with some air-bending demonstrations.

Soon, a group of Keoshi warriors appeared, and some differences from the show quickly became apparent. The Keoshi warriors were a group of female fighters; while they all were experts in unarmed combat and the use of their signature war fans, they also all come equipped with katanas, and some were armed with bows.

There was twenty-five warriors total, but each was trained well and had unique weapons five with bow, five with spears and shields, and the rest with long swords. Overall, they were much more menacing than the warriors Tom knew.

"I'll talk to them," Keo told his friends as he walked forward.

"Halt!" the leader, who he assumed was Suki, called out.

"I come In peace; I just want to talk." Replied Keo, laying down his unstrung bow.

"Suki, calm down. I need your help." -"How do you know my name? You must be a fire nation spy!"

"I'm a seer, - I can see the future, and I come with the avatar. We request your aid."

The group of warriors turned to see Aang, who was still happily displaying his powers to the awestruck villagers, having completely trusted Keo to deal with the menacing group of fighters approaching.

The Kyoshi warriors relaxed a little at this sight, and Suki invited Keo inside the warriors' base of operations, which was just a dojo. Keo and Suki sat down opposite each other, with two guards watching Keo closely.

"The first thing I'm going to do is help you establish proper fortifications; you need to set up defenses," said Keo.

"Who said anything about you ordering us around? Also, we don't have time to put up walls as fire nation scouts would use the opportunity to attack," Suki replied.

"Then, you need to win a major victory to get them to recede a bit. As I said, I'm a seer, and I can tell you that a fire nation price will be leading an attack in the next week."

Suki sighed and told Keo to leave the room. When she summoned him back, she had made a decision.

"There are three major problems that our village is facing due to the presence of the Avatar. I am willing to give you temporary command of the Kyoshi warriors."

"I won't disappoint; I have a couple of ideas to get my plan started."
