It was still early in the day. Most kids were in school and most adults were at work. The only people out were older couples or new moms with their babies. They all went away from Nick after he roared. They didn't want to be around such a loud man.
Nick noticed them leave and wondered if he did the wrong thing. He didn't care as long as Amber was not upset with him. He kissed her hand that was covering his mouth and Amber laughed. It tickled.
Blue Tang came up to them and let out a siren whistle. The water all stopped for a moment and resumed flowing. Amber's eyes widened and she looked at Blue Tang. "You can't do that here. You guys have to try and blend in or the army might take you away to do experiments on you."
She was worried for them. They were strong beast men and could fight any man here, but if the entire army came after them she was sure they could be killed. It was better not to draw too much attention.
Blue Tang didn't know what an army was but nodded his head. He understood that Amber wanted him to blend in with the other people in this world. He would do it if it made her happy.
Amber looked around and breathed a sigh of relief when she noticed the other people had not seen Blue Tang's water stunt. They had all moved further away. She thought about something since there were no people around.
"I'm curious how you guys just showed up in front of me when I thought about you. Nick, carry me over to the other side of the garden and Blue Tang stay here. I will try and summon you to me."
They did as she asked and Nick carried Amber far away to the other side. The Water Gardens were dug below the ground and were not in the eye line of anyone on the surface level. It was a very large lawn.
When Amber reached the other side, Nick placed her on the field. Amber thought about Blue Tang and she felt her mate mark heat up a little. He appeared in front of her in an instant.
Amber was surprised and happy at the same time. This meant that she could summon them in this world if she needed to. She explained, "I need to go home soon. I can't bring you guys with me, but I will summon you after everyone goes to sleep."
Blue Tang was ok with this but Nick was not. He didn't want to be away from Amber for another few hours until everyone went to sleep. He also felt that Amber shouldn't be all alone in this unfamiliar world.
Amber sensed his hesitation and explained, "This world is different from yours. We have laws and police officers to enforce the laws. They keep everyone in order. We don't have to kill and fight for food. We can buy it."
She took them to a restaurant downtown to show them how to buy food. There was a fast-food restaurant with outdoor seating. Amber ordered some burgers, chicken, and fries. She ordered a little of everything so they could try them.
She knew they had large appetites. She showed them how to pay with a credit card. Blue Tang didn't have pockets in his swim shorts, so she handed the credit card to Nick. Nick looked at Blue Tang with a smug smile.
He was happy that Amber trusted him with the card and he took it happily. He gently placed it in his pocket. They ate outside and watched the oceanfront over the sea wall. Blue Tang asked, "Are there other sea creatures in the water?"
Amber answered, "We don't have mermen in this world, but there are fish, sharks, jellyfish, and other sea creatures." When Blue Tang heard her words he was excited to explore this new ocean.
They ate the food and the guys thought the food was too salty. They were not used to the seasonings in this world. Amber's cooking was the best food they had tried, and they still preferred it.
After they ate, Amber walked with them to the shoreline. She walked to the park overlooking the water. There was a fishing pier that went into the water. A fisherman had caught a small hammerhead shark. He just finished reeling it in and was gutting it.
Nick and Blue Tang watched the man clean the fish. They were hungry again after they just ate. They wanted some raw fish to balance out all the salt from the other food.
Amber noticed their gazes and whispered, "You guys can go fishing after the other people leave. Make sure no one sees you." She didn't have a fishing pole and she knew they would just eat the fish raw.
Blue Tang nodded his head and waited for the people to move away. Amber received a call letting her know that the water bed frame was on its way to her house.
"OK, I'm on my way. If you get there first please wait for me." She hung up and called for a taxi. She hugged Nick and Blue Tang and advised, "Try to not be noticed by other people. I will call you both later. Stay safe."
Nick was not happy, but he decided to stay here until Amber called him. Blue Tang nodded and jumped into the ocean when no one was watching him. Nick didn't want to go swimming, so he just waited on the pier.
Amber went home and met the delivery man. They helped her set up the new bed frame and took away the broken bed frame. One of the delivery men commented, "You can get a reinforced steel frame so this doesn't happen next time."
Amber was embarrassed and responded, "No thank you. It won't happen again." Hopefully, they would all go back to the beast world tonight and Nick won't break her bed again.
Downtown
Nick waited on the pier silently releasing his beast pressure to keep the nosey people away while Blue Tang went fishing.
Blue Tang was able to catch a few large fish and a shark. He threw the fish to Nick. Nick caught them out of the air and skinned them with his claw. He ate them and spit out the bones.
Blue Tang ate the shark. He liked the taste of the shark in this world. In the beast world sharks were much larger and it would be harder to kill. The meat was also not as tender as these.
They ate until they were not hungry anymore. Blue Tang wanted to explore the ocean, so he told Nick, "I'll see you later when Amber summons us. I am going to explore underwater."
Nick nodded and left the pier. He didn't need to supervise this merman. They were both level five beast men. They could protect themselves. He started walking in the direction Amber went.
Nick found the cars to be annoying. They honked at him when he walked on the stone floor. He didn't know how to use the crosswalks, so he just crossed the street when he wanted to.
He made his way across town. Amber lived in the center of the city, but he had to pass many roads to get to her. He felt her presence through the mate mark. It was like his internal compass.
He noticed many things on the way to Amber's house. It was getting later in the day and the schools started to let the kids out.
Nick passed by some teenagers who were taking pictures and selfies with their phones. One of the teenage girls noticed Nick's good looks and she squealed. She asked, "Are you a model or a celebrity?"
Nick didn't know what a celebrity was, but he remembered Amber talking about a model or a band. He responded, "Model." The girls all became fans instantly. One asked, "Can we get a picture with you?"
Nick didn't like other females other than Amber. These females were loud and annoying. He just ignored them and kept walking. One of them had taken his picture before he left.
She uploaded it online and instantly got 100 likes. She was so infatuated with this handsome man. She was sure he would become a famous model with his looks. Nick had no idea that his picture would become famous online.
He didn't care about fame. He only wanted to make his way to Amber.
Back at Amber's house, she was happy the bed was fixed before her mother came home. Amber called her mom and let her know that she went home early because of cramps.
Her mother understood and told her to stay home and rest. When they came home Amber acted like she had just woken from a nap. She was wearing her house clothes and her hair was a little messy.
