Lev gulped down. He knows what will happen if he uttered the head servant's name. It wasn't the head servant that he feared. That man was nothing for him to be feared of and neither was those servants who smiled while watching him being whipped by the belt, he didn't care about any of those. He wasn't fearful of her mother either, shown by his daringness to reply back to the older woman's words, no. It was the fear that he would be the one who cause the rift in between the mother daughter relationship.
The last thing he wants was for Ilyana to lose her family out of argument stemmed from him. At first he doubted that her mother had ordered the head servant to beat him up, but he couldn't doubt it for too long knowing that he had been aggressive the same way the older woman was when it comes to judging him in front of Ilyana. Even though she love Ilyana, he wasn't her son, he was merely the bastard that took away her daughter to her eyes.
