His once handsome face was badly bruised. Some parts of his clothes were torn and blood stained. His face looked pitiful but it could only arouse my disgust. I know very well my time was coming to an end, but I refuse to die while letting my killer have easy death. Anyone who dared to cross me deserves a severe punishment. I looked at him frowning to intimidate him a little, but he immediately averted his eyes and started trembling under my hateful gaze. Even though he was skilled enough to shoot me it was clear he wasn't mentally prepared to be caught.
"Who sent you?". Great now my voice was getting hoarse. I didn't expect him to shake even more by this simple statement. He looked around frantically trying to find someone who could help him. But his efforts didn't pay off since everyone didn't like him since the beginning because of his arrogance. He started talking when a guard kicked his legs "Your Majesty, p-please spare me. I-I didn't want to kill you, really it was no-nothing personal-". I scoffed and urged him to talk "Who sent you?".My vision was getting blurry and his quivering voice just worsened my headache.
"You know very well that your pleading is going to be ignored, so why don't you just start talking while I am still being nice. After all you are the only one who knows my character very well among this people. You are just embarrassing yourself. How pathetic!" even though I knew he wasn't gonna talk I tried to get at least the reason why he did this "You know, if you don't want to talk so be it". He looked at me with confusion "Guards first break his bones and then bury him alive, If you don't want to talk then there is no point in keeping you here". All the blood drained from his face making him look sickly pale. "No!" he shouted in horror "I will talk! Just don't kill me!". For once I was happy about my reputation that portrayed me as a ruthless and heartless person when it comes to justice. Even if it was a small matter I would always solve it in a way that made both parties satisfied.
"I was ordered to kill you by king Morfran Orabis. He promised I would become his son-in-law if I succeeded". I unintentionally chuckled in amusement "So, your only thought about marrying princess Claudia. Why am I not surprised? Does she even know about this agreement? Because the last time I checked she was ready to leave her family behind just to be with me". Amon glared at me with jealousy and shook his head "She has been kept in the dark huh? No wonder you are still alive if she knew about her father's plan she would have dismembered your body the moment she found out. Well, since she can't do it I shall do the honors. But I am much more merciful so you just have to drink the " Gift of Death". As soon as I decided the punishment two guards grabbed his arms and dragged him out of the room. His pleads and screams could be heard clearly, but no one reacted.
I relaxed a little knowing anyone who drank that poison would die in 5 minutes. But in those 5 minutes they would experience unimaginable pain. I don't know the details but it's safe to say that Amon would no longer be a threat. Just as I was relaxing thinking that I should be more careful with the people close to me in the future, sudden pain brought me back to reality. I could feel my heartbeat slowing. Alarmed I looked at the healer's face and sure enough the panic and despair in his eyes confirmed my suspicion. I turned my head towards the window and to my surprise saw that dawn was fast approaching. It was a beautiful sight. I stared at the it stubbornly when I felt that my conscious was slipping away. I blocked everyone's voice and only focused on the Sun, remembering my last conversation with my mom. I closed my eyes glad that my last moments were peaceful...
Angry voice that echoed in the large room reached my ears and helped me to regain consciousness. Without even opening my eyes I covered my ears not bearing the overwhelming sounds around me while trying to come up with a reason why I wasn't dead yet. It was almost like a dream with all the unexplainable things happening. Just as I was about to continue sleeping deciding that every thing about Amon was a nightmare, someone said "King Werner His Majesty is not dead, he is just sleeping".
"What?! How could that be possible?!" asked a person who I assume is my uncle king Werner.
"I am not so sure myself sir, but I suspect it has something to do with His Majesty's grandmother".
"You mean Lady Flavia's mother?"
"That is correct. As you already know her mother Wise Prestia was rumored to be a witch when she was alive. It might be possible considering that she known for brewing potions that can grow plants faster, make people age slower and even preventing someone to die because of physical wounds. She doted on her daughter and when she was leaving this world her daughter was pregnant with His Majesty. She was powerful yet she couldn't stop the death completely, but she brewed one potion for Lady Flavia that can heal her wounds in seconds right before her death. So what if Lady Flavia's unique healing powers passed down to her children?".
"Hold on! So, you are saying that Thaddeus is still alive?" uncle asked eagerly.
I didn't hear anyone answer, but they might have nodded because the next moment uncle released a sigh of relief and said "So he is still alive! Thank goodness! Now who just shouted that the king passed away, huh? Come out so I can slice your head for giving me false information and heart stroke!
With much difficulties I opened my eyes to calm down my childish uncle, but what I saw shocked me to the core.
I couldn't move a muscle as I stared at my body that was lying on the bed motionless. I quickly looked down where my body was supposed to be, but regretted doing so because it was there but it was as clear as the water. I was transparent, almost like a ghost. In my hysterical state I suddenly remembered a saying which is something like "his soul left his body" that my comrades used to say to Hugo, when he was kissed on the cheek by a beautiful maiden after confessing his love. That piece of pleasant memory calmed me down a little to think through all the things that happened to me. After remembering I could see myself I looked around to see if anyone noticed me too. And as if reading my mind healer who turned out to be Indalvur answered my question.
"But sir we have a problem. His Majesty used all of his healing energy to heal the wound that would have killed anyone normal two days ago when it happened. And now he doesn't have enough strength to wake up". So they think I am still lying unconscious like my father.
"What do you mean?" asked king Werner getting serious, clearly not liking where this was going.
What Indalvur said next made almost faint "His Majesty is going to breath and sleep like a normal person but without needing nourishments. The biggest problem here is he might never wake up ever again...".
