The Monster Hunter
A long time ago. Long before the first writings there was man. Before dwarves, demons or elves there was man. Of all the masters of the world only one took pity on her weak creatures. Self-proclaimed goddess, she is called "War", thanks to her, Men knew prosperity and wealth. However, too much peace makes the warriors jealous, and the beings who once reigned over this world and who today count among the fallen defied Men by throwing on them hunger and thirst and made them know death and especially war. One day a man got up and built a new kingdom, this king is called Alexander the Great. He made the Gods tremble and made his goddess and all her species proud. One day the king, in his eternal quest for knowledge, opened a portal that leads to hell. This was the day when Ragnarock saw the first monsters tread its soil. Naturally aggressive towards Men, and endowed with a strength and a unique affinity for magic, they soon sparked an eternal conflict between all the creatures of the continent. The men possessing neither magic nor strength, found themselves quickly invaded by the enemy. But when all hopes seemed vain for this race of the past, only one stood up and drew his blade on behalf of his people. Shivaxi is what he is called and history does not intend to forget his title anytime soon, and for good reason he slices monsters like a loaf of bread and massacres people every morning. Which also earned him the charming title " Of Cutthroat ". After having emptied the earth of those who threatened his own, he perished and was summoned to the pantheon by his goddess. She asked him to create something for him that will protect his people even after his death, so he would bring forth the human race and his carnal desire for power.
"The Monster Hunter".
And so the story begins…. Once upon a time there was a man...
Under the cold rain of the southern mountains the clash of the blades is heard and in the dark night we can observe the two shadows fighting and making their war cries heard. The two enemies attack each other fiercely, screaming with what strength they have left to contract their muscles and throw punches in the falling rain, the fight has started for several hours and fatigue is in love with them. A long time ago, now they only have some residual energy left to move their arm anyway. One of the two adversaries stops and puts one knee on the ground out of breath he can no longer continue. His opponent still stands and walks towards him cautiously. When he judges that his adversary is no longer in a condition to fight, he puts the blade of his sword on his gore and suddenly withdraws his head without the slightest hesitation. However, he too, out of breath, considered the idea of resting but realizing that sleeping in the pouring rain in the mountains and in the middle of the night is not the best idea, he headed for a fairly large cavity. to hold a man tight. Can't be comfortable but secure for one night. This fight did not leave him unscathed, on the contrary, several injuries to his chest and his shoulder no longer function. Obviously he won't survive long with such injuries in the wild. A village will be a very pleasant outcome but not feasible. He remembers an old man telling him that the night brings advice , it must be said that indeed advice will be welcome especially if said advice finds the kindness to appear at the critical moment so this one . Although fatigue torments our Unhappy man, he is nonetheless extremely hurt, in a dark night in freezing cold. To top it off, it is in the south where the monsters are known to be terribly active and the night does not make it easy for the idiots who had the wonderful idea of facing these creatures whose strength and cruelty is beyond comprehension. In a word "He will die", this reality is not so terrifying for an adventurer like this. Orphaned from an early age, he only knew hunger and the church bells that haunt these nightmares to this day. He had met adventurers by listening to tales of the past and the legends that surround monsters and men. Terrifying stories for a child, but for him it was a revelation, the world is not a city and creatures far more powerful than anything he could have imagined exist outside of this cult-led village of the "goddesses of desires". He decided during his 17 years to leave his native land and headed for the life of an adventurer. A silly choice, because being an adventurer means you're not going to die surrounded by loved ones, but rather dissolved in an ogre's belly, or slaughtered by bandits, or hanged by elves, or even impaled. by a demon. Death awaits you every moment, but it knows that sooner or later "it will get you". On this thought our young man felt a deep sadness and an unnamed desolation. He is going to die for good, there will be no turning back, yet he did not live to be very old, 18 years old he is only a young man and he is going to die in this little hole, without anything or anyone can find him or even mourn him. He began to wander, who is going to mourn him? The ready ? He must have hated him since he left. his comrades? They all died two weeks ago.
" And me ? Who's going to mourn me? WHO ?! ".
Tears run down his cheeks. He's going to die without accomplishing anything, a dumb, uninteresting death that won't even entertain the Gods. At that thought he screamed.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!! »
The rain stifles his cry and the echo does not even come back to him. He is lost for good, however a part of him hardly accepts this reality which gradually becomes an inevitable fact. That insane part of him is called instinct. And this instinct only repeats to him one word, "Live." The young man struggles in his hole trying to create a gap in the cavity to give him more space but the rock is solid. He unblocks his hand and tries to find a hold to rise to the surface, but too late the rain seeps in and drags him deeper into this already very narrow hole. He slips, now the cavity is starting to widen, he struggles to unlock his second hand, then a crack. His left hand is twisted the wrong way, he screams in pain.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH"
" Live ". Growls tell him that monsters have spotted these cries, he hears knocks on the surface, they try to pass through the cavity to catch him. He tries to slip deeper into the cavity but he hears a second crack. A gigantic red hand grabs him and pulls his stuck arm, the pressure is immense and the force of the hand is even more. This time it is a heartbreak that we hear and the echo caused by the cave only makes this scene even more terrifying. The creature to rip off the adventurer's hand and pull it up, "Live." While the monster swallows this new find, the young man screams with all of his soul, a shrill cry resounding in the night. As the monster finished his meal he wanted more and started digging. With these arms he smashes the rock to pieces, and as his face begins to pop out, the floor of the cavity collapses and gives way to a gigantic ice cave. The young man in free fall had lost too much blood to think, he barely saw the gigantic Ogre who also found himself dragged into his fall. Luckily the young man landed in a pocket of water. As for the monster, it crashed further on a peak with its mouth wide open. The young man remained unaware for a few moments of the colossal luck he had just had. And once again of his triumphant enemy the young man approached the Ogre not without stumbling, and checked that he is really no longer able to move. Then turning around had a wonderful sight. A huge cave with a cavity of ice, illuminated by the light of the moon which enters through the hole at the top of this majestic hall, heaps of silver and gold are found scattered everywhere and hundreds of precious stones are hidden in the many chests at close range. But our adventurer had little time to think about that because his arm was dripping with blood and losing too much would be certain death. He tore his already wet clothes and wrapped them around his wounds to stop the bleeding. When the adventurer turned around he had a horror vision of a lizard almost as big as the cave where he is lying. White scales cover his body, his eyes although closed remain imposing for a man, even asleep his breath would sweep an entire city, two wings made of scales protect his head during his sleep. The beast surely wakes up because of the noise caused by the death of the Ogre which still keeps bawling, the creature is up, with all its size it will not be able to stand up in this cave. Sharp claws on these four legs all as big as a man, see even more, each of these legs could scratch a race of the continent. The beast of legends stood before this adventurer. A creature created for the sole purpose of slaying gods, few have faced it and even fewer have returned, alive or dead. This is a Dragon.
"The Ice Dragon"
The creature resents being woken up from its hibernation which until now has lasted several millennia. Obviously she has to go eat her gurgle belly. The beast turned its gaze to the ogre, thinking it would make a great entrance so it swallowed it in one go, no need to move with such a long swipe. And the adventurer, still unable to move, she didn't deign to notice and decided to leave the nest instead. The creature got up and with its back smashed the roof of the ice cave, the ground and the walls tremble, the mountain will not hold, the adventurer dodges the blocks of ice falling from the sky, although it hurts him he had no choice but to run as long as possible, his bones shaking along with the mountain. But what is this abomination that has so much power to waste. The ceiling of the cave is no more, the moon illuminates the interior and gives way to a majestic and terrifying spectacle at the same time. The adventurer finds himself in front of the beast wing unfolding ready to his go when he notices the human who observes him, they met their eyes for what seemed an eternity when the adventurer saw fit to move back the ground shook, the last Chunks of ice still on the walls of the tombs cave. One of them lands right in front of the adventurer, which cuts him to miles, and blinds our hero. As he felt himself falling, the adventurer heard a terrifying roar and then felt his heart immersed in cold, and suddenly he felt nothing. Because death, she fell in love with her body, and now she alone knows what awaits her. Deep down he knew it, he didn't fight without any hope and then he had no reason other than his thirst for travel and the legends that had intrigued him so much. In reality he even accomplished his mission, he was able to see one of his mythical creatures, in short he is at peace and ready to face the fate that awaits him. However, a detail bothers him, he still feels the cold that had invaded his heart earlier and it intensifies. It doesn't sound like the death he'd heard about, the one where nothing worries you or hurts you anymore, a so-called freedom he doesn't feel. A sudden pain in his wounds and his eyes burn to the highest point, he tries to scream but realizes that he has no more voice. He can't see and yet he can feel, certainly these senses are limited to the constant pain but it remains intriguing. His severed arm solidifies, and the emptiness that was there gradually becomes flesh and blood again. When suddenly his eyes opened and the pain that engulfed his whole body disappeared, he was still deep in that cave where he was supposed to have died. He got up without the slightest problem and noticed that the blood that was flowing freely just now is no more. As if he had just been reborn, however it is still dark and the monsters, attracted by the noise, begin to approach. The adventurer stepped back ready to face these undesirables, hold on, he felt no fear or dread but only an uncontrollable craving for blood. A group of undead move towards the young man, they emit a cry to make chill in the back, the adventurer smiles. In response screamed and began to run towards the monsters. One of the creatures took his spear and tried to impale the attacker, but the young man took this opportunity to snatch the weapon from the monster's hand and pulled his head out, then in a destructive fury held his spear to two hands and impaled the second monster, then grabbed his sword and sliced the others in a flash. You could have sworn to see lightning fighting.
Calm fell over the still moonlit night, and at the bottom of this cave lies a pile of rotting corpses, and on this pile stands a man covered in blood. But this time it's not his, his eyes spurted a blue glow. And a terrifying smile lights up his face.
At the top of the universe, in a roofless room revealing a starry sky. A gigantic woman seated on an equally large throne smiled, then mockingly addressed the occupant of the throne opposite her:
"He finally decided to move. »
His interlocutor replied with a rather annoyed look:
"Yes, looks like we're going to have to get ready, what do you say Shivaxi "
A lizard with the build of a man, also on a throne, but much smaller than the others, smiled and said:
"Looks like our deal is coming to an end"
"I chose, MY CHAMPION"
